Internet Surveillance
6 2013-01-21 by sun_dagger
Quick question that I thought would be appropriately posted on this forum...
Knowing myself, I feel that I am a probable candidate for covert surveillance by government agencies.
I was wondering if there were any techniques that I could use to uncover surveillance efforts against me, either in cyberspace or everyday life?
Thanks.

The bad news is, they do have a file on you. The good (or maybe worse) news is they have a file on everybody.
If you want to see what information specifically is being surveilled, open your web browsing history, email account, bank account etc.

You could try a honey pot. Send a number of messages to a fake "network" of actvists that makes is seem as if you are going to do something, like hold a massive protest, and see if a lot of cops show up in riot gear.

For start install linux
(example) http://www.ubuntu.com/
Then secure it (like this)

Avoid these words to prevent Homeland Security from spying

And this is linux distribution you can install on USB flash memory
https://tails.boum.org/ it has integrated tor
And these are programs to install linux on USB

these are some videos

It would be nice to make a "how to" for others

after you are done you can create a walkthrough for others to help them

I'll get a netbook, do a Linux boot on it, and detail the process.
I'm short on cash. The only thing I have to access the net is a cracked iPad. When I get a netbook imma do it :)

good luck. Net books are perfect. Try to buy wireless usb like this
http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/673790/9340170/0/1244692669.jpg
You can attach outside antenna to it like this http://www.nag.ru/upload/images/15751/cantena1.jpg or you can make this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8a/WokFi-sample2.jpg/220px-WokFi-sample2.jpg
This is how to do it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WokFi
http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html
That way you can extend range of device. And with this linux distribution you can connect to any network http://www.backtrack-linux.org/
it has tools for that. This is how to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrkKpRdS1iQ
And, of course make sure that USB that you buy works with linux distribution you pick.
have fun

uncover? isn't it blatant enough for you already?
1 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
True, but I'd like to know for sure.
1 might_is_right 2013-01-21
You are.
1 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
Alright. Do you know anything funny I could do to the agents who are currently surveiling me?
3 might_is_right 2013-01-21
No. I don't think they have a sense of humor. They do have secret renditions and torture chambers if that's your cup of tea. Best thing you can do is get Stockholm Syndrome like everyone else. Keep your head down.

Out of interest, what makes you think you're likely to be under government surveillance?
2 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
I have strong opinions against big oil, bankers, pharmaceuticals, and the Iraq war. I invest heavily in physical silver. I secretly wish Fight Club was real. I routinely refuse to go through a backscatter scanner and I give the TSA officers a hard time for it. I actively research UFO information (wanttoknow.info is a good resource) and post on Facebook a lot about the information I pick up. I talk about conspiracies with people whenever possible. I research homebrew biodiesel and plan to buy a 240D to run it in. My google keywords, typed in for purely academic reasons, can be odd sometimes.
In short, a life of happiness for me is a life dedicated to unraveling the biggest secret of them all: government collaboration with extraterrestrial beings. For that reason alone I'd surveil myself. Proof of such an event would radically change the dynamics of every aspect of Earth living, from environmental activism, to driving cars, to foreign policy, to agribusiness, etc. etc... everything. Which is why if I were them, that'd be the secret I'd guard the most.

You actively participate in a community of paranoid people and you think someone is watching you?
Nobody would have seen that coming...
2 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
That's not really answering my question. I don't think someone is watching me.
edit I thought r/conspiracy would be a good resource for information. Aren't you also actively participating in said "community of paranoid people"?
I just would like to be aware of steps I could take. Nothing wrong with checking up on things, is there?
Nice try, though.

Just you posting that leaves a footprint that traces back to you. Now that they know you're aware of their presence, you're probably on the top of their list now.
We'll be there within the hour, do not leave your house.
1 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
I suppose I might be a good candidate for COINTELPRO operations.
Within the hour? Damn, you guys are late.

Funny, albeit still not contributing information...
But funny.
0 might_is_right 2013-01-21
We know that they know that we know. And they know that. Now we know that too.
0 might_is_right 2013-01-21
You constantly post in r/conspiracy while thinking it's made up of paranoid people that form a community. Did you ever think what that says about you?

Doesn't really sound like you're doing anything thát interesting to the govt. They're probably more concerned with monitoring child pornographers than some guy looking at UFO sites with an opinion on Iraq.
3 sun_dagger 2013-01-21
Catching child pornographers is the least of their worries at this moment. Just ask any politician. They're the child pornographers.
Don't even get me started on CIA and drugs.
