As a local citizen of Torrance, CA. And I do a lot of nightlife throughout Los Angeles. This weekend I will be looking over my shoulder twice and obeying all traffic laws. I almost dont want to go out at all.
Just last month, cops gunned down a guy fleeing from the scene of a club. What wasn't released was how many bullets they used. Witnesses said they shot more than 30+ into the vehicle, stopped to reload and unloaded again. In that photo last night on the front page, there are more than 20+ visible bullet holes in that truck. I can take the odds of missing one bullet, but 20+ is terrifying.
This is absolutely retarded. How could that be at all effective when hundreds of thousands of people can easily replicate the information and post it on several hundreds of different subreddits.
It sounds about right to me. Have you seen this? It seems like having a few mods who delete or bump the stories wanted would be easier than creating an army of fake people. Yet the fake army has been publicly asked for.
Ok. Except that it is so so so so easy to open up another thread somewhere else. It would be pointless. This has happened hundreds of times in the past where a popular thread gets shut down and then there is a big flip out and another thread if made. There is zero chance out ability to suppress articles.
Everyone in California knows about this guy. That's close to 38 million people. EVERYONE is talking about this in California (I live there.) The news coming out about him has just very recently been announced and yet it's spreading like fire. I heard about him from my cop friend on facebook at around 930am yesterday.
It's barely been a little over a day. The LAPD is wanting the news to not be so eager to report the news as this guy is tactically trained and knows what to listen for.
From your "perspective" you just missed some articles in the same way you would miss some shitty fucking memes on the front page
Where abouts do you live because I'm about ready to call bullshit on you. I live pretty far from LA and it was on EVERY news channel, the paper and facebook.
The LAPD has every right to do that, actually. If they believe it'll help the criminal. Back during WWII, the Japanese successfully bombed several cities with balloons, but there was a media black out so Japan wouldn't send more balloons over. They didn't want them knowing they were succeeding, and the Japanese assumed they failed so they stopped bombing the Pacific Shore.
Jesus Christ. Why is it always chalked up to "The Feds." Do you even know what that means? Also, why the fuck would they try to supress information on r/wtf? Do you think that wasting that much time censoring 1 thread that can be easily replicated by HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE?
The HBGary Scandal: Using Counterterrorism Tactics on Citizen Activism
In any case, Barr is referring to an ongoing investigation conducted by the Miami and Counterterrorism Section of DOJ, with assistance from the DNI.
His “proof” that this stuff works is that it has worked in the past (he claims) in an investigation of Colombian (and Dutch) terrorists.
Now it’s not at all clear that it is valid (I’ll have more to say on this in the future, too). Barr’s coder argued that what he’s measuring is only guilt by association, not real association (see where this begins to sound familiar?). TechHerald, in a useful analysis of the paper he was going to give on Anonymous, judges,
His research has plenty of interesting aspects, but seems to have several flaws as well. He is right when he says social media can be used to target and exploit people and organizations, but wrong when he assumes the spider web links between people are proof positive of anything criminal or malicious.
In other words, what Barr has done has mapped out associations with no guarantee the associations mean anything, much less any involvement in a particular group.
Our Intelligence Agencies Talk to HBGary
The fact that Barr’s project is so dubious is all the more troubling, given that DOJ and our intelligence community seemed prepared to take his work seriously. Barr’s emails make it clear that he was in talks on February 4 with several branches of our intelligence community about sharing his analysis of Anonymous.
>> Interesting Day.
>>
>> So I have been contacted by OSD (Rosemary [Wenschel, head of Cyberops at DOD]), FBI, USG, and now DNI…all today.
>>
>> I have a meeting with FBI/OSD Monday @ 11am.
>>
>> Met with some folks at my old customer today (I should fill u in on that).
>>
>> And looks like a meeting to be set up with Dawn [Meyerriecks, head of DNI's Acquisition and Technology]…
>>
>> Let me know if you would like to get together.
>>
>> Aaron
The reference to USG or “my old customer” may mean the CIA, as someone signing an email MFM that was sent from CIA’s public domain name contacted Barr about “timely capabilities” on the 4th as well. (“My old customer” may also mean TASC and/or NSC, since Barr was in talks about being bought out to work in TASC’s Ft. Meade office.)
Barr’s contemplated work (and in some cases, ongoing discussions) with entities like DOD’s Cyberops, NSA, and CIA is all the more troubling given an exchange he had with his former colleague from Northrup Grumman. Barr described the meeting with his former client, emphasizing that that client was not capable of “doing the right activities” “because of authority and policy restrictions.”
The conversation was very interesting today. The admit they had no idea this was happening until it hit the streets. They have no idea how to manage things like this in the future. And the agree they are not capable of doing the right activities (like I did) to be better prepared in the future because of authority and policy restrictions.
That is, whoever the client was, they agreed that they couldn’t do the kind of spying domestically Barr could because of policy restrictions.
Barr’s former colleague asked “Do you suppose there might be a market for an offshore intel gathering organization that would sell results?” To which Barr responded, “absolutely needed. Government is not going to get out of their way anytime soon to be able to do this work.”
I was responding to your inquiry about why information would be suppressed.
The answer is because there's a cottage industry that has grown up around a demand curve that has State money behind it. The HB Gary scandal illustrated that clearly, but no one paid attention to it because the media found it to be 'boring'.
Yeah that has nothing to do with the government blacking anything out and being a shadow organization and more about the general public being more interested in stupid shit.
You're saying that the supposed suppression (which isn't happening) has something to do with the government doing some kind of shadow org shit when in reality it's just people not being interested at all.
Pretty sure one officers was using a long gun. There is a better photo that shows more of the police car and on the driver side, under the open door you can plainly see three long bullet casings. Currently my desktop and they are looking a lot like M16/M4 empty casings.
Speaking of which, who the fuck was shooting their trunk? Half the bullets were just shot straight into the back of the truck. What were they trying to hit?? If that is a cops' shooting prowess, god save us all. What a fucking jelly brain.
you got to wonder if he does know something they dont want out. why would that truck just be all shot to hell. no stopping them or anything just trying to kill whoever was inside. Trying to keep someone quiet maybe???
Yes, your reddit is being blocked because this is the most important thing happening on the planet right now and the powers that be better make sure YOU aren't able to keep up on it, on your user-driven website.
If it were not for /r/conspiracy I would have no idea that this is even happening. I found out this afternoon while browsing here.. nothing was on my front page.
/r/firearms has a thread that has been gaining momentum since this morning, but not a ton of people venture to that part of reddit. That's where I first heard the news, then saw the link over at /r/protectandserve after a post from /r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut led me there about some of the outrageous shit the cops were saying.
Only on WTF. because it wasn't very wtf. Also it w getting very political which is very much against the r/wtf policies. The mods have blocked threads before because of their political nature. This isn't a surprise.
I actually was tied up for most of the day and my fiancee told me she heard about it at work.. If you just google "Dorner" every single major media outlet comes up.
The original poster for the /r/WTF post ended up going to /r/pics. <- original and new posts here.
Please upvote this so everyone here can see it. We need to generate the same level of popularity on this new thread to get it back on /r/all. It's a jerk move to have taken it off /r/WTF due to activism.
Im listening to the scanner and Homeland Security is now involved and they were talking about 3+ choppers in the air... UH-60 1-140th is what they said...I googled 1-140th and thats a National Guard Aviation Unit
I live within a mile of where the helicopters flying last night.
There were four, all dual-rotors (I believe Chinooks, two came South from Camp Pendleton and the other two came from the North), all at different altitudes. The most mysterious part was that at one point they switched to a stealth/quiet mode and the noise level dropped in half.
hmmm...? maybe mountains and hills blocked the sound. Chinooks also are the fastest helicopters we have. They were probably rolling hard, low, and fast.
This happened over my house about a week ago. I could hear the helicopter coming from pretty far away. When it got close to over my house( flying fairly low ), the sound cut down to almost nothing until it started to get out of view - it started back up loud and kept going. So it's definitely a possibility.
Ya it's tough to say. The fact that Chinooks are in the air is more suspicious than anything. Could you make out the Chinooks at all? Did they have refueling booms on the front I only ask because SOF use them mostly. It would be interesting if SOF forces in the air and on the ground.
I could only tell by the lights and the noise, dual-rotor somethings.
I know at least two of them were, and given that they split North/South it may have been two Chinooks from Camp Pendleton and some other helicopters from the North.
In the slight light there was, it did not appear that they were a lighter color. Most likely dark green or black.
Also on a side note lately I've seen multiple Osprey tiltrotors flying over the ocean.. which I believed are no longer in use?
Oh just shut up already. It's all over every news station in Southern California, you moron.
No one is trying to block anything. Reddit is a massive, fluctuating, living thing. Just because your preferred link drops off the horizon doesn't mean nefarious work is afoot.
Your friend is correct. Try this link instead. Definitely has names listed and it has the stuff about the celebrities in it that the ClearChannel doesn't seem to have.
The original is the one without the guncontrol and celeb gossip in it. You know this two ways. The one with the guncontrol/celeb gossip changes writing styles and interjects the guncontrol/celeb nonsense in the middle of otherwise connected paragraphs.
Second, the guncontrol/celeb gossip manifestos didn't show up until the actual manifesto started gaining views on the net. This is an obvious discrediting tactic, to keep people from asking why the media isn't actually investigating the claims made against the LAPD.
No, you're spreading the misinformation. I read that one first before ever hearing about the other long one which came up after the shorter one. Why did ktla withhold so much? Also why did they withhold the paragraphs in the middle about gun control? To me they were added in so eat up all that misinformation because it seems to be doing you good.
Also show me their proof? Because all the links I follow I can never find the manifesto on his Facebook AT ALL unedited. So tell me how do you know the one they are portraying is the real one?
WTF!! really I'm more of a lurker here on r/conspiracy but came here looking for an answer to this. My internet has been running fine. I was on the front page, left my computer for like 15 to grab a some dinner came back to my computer still on front page, hit the front button again just to refresh things and it disappeared. Also notice comments being deleted.
Try this link. I read through the PDF hosted on ClearChannel and this link definitely has more in it than what I first read. The original manifesto I read did not mention any celebrities what so ever. What was in it was entirely meant for the LAPD and that's it, no one else.
[edit 2/09]
I'm sticking with the ClearChannel version of the manifesto as it was the earliest one posted of that day and less likely to be tampered with. I even saved a copy of it: PDF file 2/07/2013 10:41AM. I can link it if need be.
The soopermexican link is purely misinformation. The fake manifesto is still posted on the main stream media's websites. Here is the link to the LA Times.
The link you have posted has the gun control rant added into it. That was not part of the original. Look at the different spellings, the unusual change in punctuation, the difference of verbiage. That was not written by him.
This is the link where I was first exposed to it. NOT the hacked up guncontrol and celeb gossip versions that came later in the day and were obviously false.

16 I_ama_Borat 2013-02-08
Why are all these comments with the manifesto link getting deleted?
22 [deleted] 2013-02-08
they are trying to stop the spread of information
-2 ZWhitford 2013-02-08
Oh just shut up already. It's all over every news station in Southern California, you moron.
No one is trying to block anything. Reddit is a massive, fluctuating, living thing. Just because your preferred link drops off the horizon doesn't mean nefarious work is afoot.

Your friend is correct. Try this link instead. Definitely has names listed and it has the stuff about the celebrities in it that the ClearChannel doesn't seem to have.
3 JeffBoucher 2013-02-08
That's actually the edited one. The one that's not edited doesn't have any of the celebrity call outs or gun control ban. http://ktla.com/2013/02/07/read-christopher-dorners-so-called-manifesto/#ixzz2KDVW09yo
1 drfrydaddy 2013-02-08
How do you know which is original?
2 ronintetsuro 2013-02-08
The original is the one without the guncontrol and celeb gossip in it. You know this two ways. The one with the guncontrol/celeb gossip changes writing styles and interjects the guncontrol/celeb nonsense in the middle of otherwise connected paragraphs.
Second, the guncontrol/celeb gossip manifestos didn't show up until the actual manifesto started gaining views on the net. This is an obvious discrediting tactic, to keep people from asking why the media isn't actually investigating the claims made against the LAPD.
Many are enabling that disinformation.
1 JeffBoucher 2013-02-08
I don't. Just my reasoning skills.
1 drfrydaddy 2013-02-08
Then all you are accomplishing is the spread of misinformation.
1 JeffBoucher 2013-02-08
No, you're spreading the misinformation. I read that one first before ever hearing about the other long one which came up after the shorter one. Why did ktla withhold so much? Also why did they withhold the paragraphs in the middle about gun control? To me they were added in so eat up all that misinformation because it seems to be doing you good.
1 JeffBoucher 2013-02-08
Also show me their proof? Because all the links I follow I can never find the manifesto on his Facebook AT ALL unedited. So tell me how do you know the one they are portraying is the real one?
1 drfrydaddy 2013-02-08
I don't. That's my point. Neither do you. So stop saying you know which is which.
1 JeffBoucher 2013-02-08
I can disagree with people. I think they are wrong and are posting the misinformation. Go tell them to stop saying which one is the correct one then.
1 BelleRed 2013-02-08
Well, I've read so many now that I have a pretty good idea of what he was writing about so...

WTF!! really I'm more of a lurker here on r/conspiracy but came here looking for an answer to this. My internet has been running fine. I was on the front page, left my computer for like 15 to grab a some dinner came back to my computer still on front page, hit the front button again just to refresh things and it disappeared. Also notice comments being deleted.

-3 BelleRed 2013-02-08
Try this link.
I read through the PDF hosted on ClearChannel and this link definitely has more in it than what I first read. The original manifesto I read did not mention any celebrities what so ever. What was in it was entirely meant for the LAPD and that's it, no one else.[edit 2/09] I'm sticking with the ClearChannel version of the manifesto as it was the earliest one posted of that day and less likely to be tampered with. I even saved a copy of it: PDF file 2/07/2013 10:41AM. I can link it if need be.

I think it might be the other way around. http://www.soopermexican.com/2013/02/07/news-media-scrub-cop-murderers-manifesto-of-pro-obama-pro-hillary-loved-msnbc-pro-gay-and-anti-gun-comments/
-1 xX_Justin_Xx 2013-02-08
The soopermexican link is purely misinformation. The fake manifesto is still posted on the main stream media's websites. Here is the link to the LA Times.
1 urlgray 2013-02-08
The abbreviated version you linked can be found on other MSM sources as well, Faux News, KTLA and ABC.
2 sarahlucky13 2013-02-08
this is not it in its entirety. this is- http://boywithgrenade.org/2013/02/07/christopher-dorners-manifesto/
2 xX_Justin_Xx 2013-02-08
The link you have posted has the gun control rant added into it. That was not part of the original. Look at the different spellings, the unusual change in punctuation, the difference of verbiage. That was not written by him.
1 acronyman 2013-02-08
How can you be sure that either was written by him? I'd have preferred a video.
1 xX_Justin_Xx 2013-02-08
This article, and many others like it, state his manifesto is 11 pages long. Unlike the 22 page long fake manifesto that is being circulated.
