Where can I find a "real" news outlet?

Aye, I frequent, sometimes over the top, conspiracy forums and Natural News for news, but I know there are loads of other invaluable sources on the nets. What should I be checking out?

No need to upvote; can care less about karma.

Also be sure to look into who is saying what. Not all reporters at any given outlet are equal, and some are definitely better than others at delivering stories in a less biased way (or at least in a way more relevant to what it is you'd want to know about the topic).

There aren't any.

You see, the issue with news in general is it's always a matter of opinion, and misery loves company. This means that most of the time 'news' is merely the opinion of the editor + writer that created the piece.

Having said that, what you're really looking for is some form of news outlet that uses external sources, and isn't biased. None of the links give out by weedtastic does this sadly, as most of them spout either hypothetical rubbish, or lack any form sources. The closest I've seen to this kind of website is:

http://www.greenmedinfo.com , which although goes on rambling 'mother nature this, mother nature that' rants, do at least provide scientific resources for the articles I've read on that website.

As for news websites, generally it's a good attempt to use about 3-5 from each individual viewpoint. Here in the UK the more trustworthy ones are

www.bbc.co.uk Most neutral newspage I've seen. www.guardian.co.uk Really Left leaning. http://www.independent.co.uk Kinda right leaning, but they at least use sources.

Honestly, if you're looking for anything with any credibility, you want to avoid most of the links thrown around on this subreddit. Most of them are just rambling nutty opinions of people very rarely given any facts.

thank you. That was a very thoughtful post

I like No Agenda and Corbett Report. They're podcasts, if that matters, but the Corbett Report has a paid newsletter. That, and a fair amount of cross-reading topics on different non-MSM websites.

Was just exposed to No Agenda. Good stuff.

Drudge is helpful because the only way to understand all this is to consider all the different view-points, but even drudge is a little biased. You just have to watch and read a little of everything and remember to always be objective. Don't fall prey to any one voice, show, network, or author. But even if you do end up preferring one above others remember to always research any factual claim. I personally tend to prefer infowars.com/ the alex jones radio show because they always list the source even though their opinions may be extreme sometimes. Another show I like (not really news though) is Joe Rogan because he's so good at being objective, and he is surprisingly wise.

Why so much downvotes /r/Conspiracy?

Thanks!

I'm like you said in your first sentence...forums, r/conspiricy being probably my favorite. Just a bunch of guys and gals like you and me discussing what we believe to be true and false (with the occasional troll popping in to spin us around) Also i like the corbett report, you should check it out

Ben Swann Politics, Suspicious0bserversWeather

Democracynow.org

I even made a roku channel for them (if you own a roku).

Democracy Now! is great, the breadth of discussion is almost unparalleled. I tried to get Democracy Now! on a Canadian Roku that we had to buy to get Canadian Netflix and it was blocked. I have gotten it through Plex now, so I am good to go. Roku customer support just blew smoke up my ass when I complained, they claimed it was the "ISP" blocking it. My video 1 input has U.S. Roku attached (it works fine), while video 2 has Canadian Roku both through the same ISP. One blocks DN, the other not.

I made the Democracy Now channel and there is no restriction on it. You should be able to see it from anywhere in the world, if you have a roku.

Thanks, I will give that access code a try. I think the restrictions are actually in the Roku software/firmware, whatever, but I will see what happens with this.

Same problem...

Truthdig and Aljazeera are the closest you'll get.... But Noam Chomsky is your best bet.

I would add the state news agencies like Ria, xinhua etc. They have sometimes interesting articles what they are up to - or what they think other states are up to. The problem with the conspiracy news bubble is the isolation into which you submit yourself.

And please, everybody here, do not forget to read about local news. Some blogs, some news stations, anything that reports on your local town/city whatever. I frequently see how activists are enraged about the US, EU etc. but have no clue how fucked up politics in their local town is - where they could be the deciding sand in the machine.

I have enjoyed The Young Turks on YouTube

Thanks all for helpful suggestions.

Gary Franchi has a nice 24-hr news site that just started a couple months ago.

SPLC put him on their "hate site" list back in 2011 due to his Restore The Republic social site.

godlikeproductions.com is definitely a tricky one. there's a LOT of disinfo there, but sift through it because that's where all the MK Ultra victims leak a word here and there. You'll find that every single person on that site, save shills and trolls and the normal internet riff-raff, believes fervently that a great doom is moments away. They watch the sun for flares, the weather for haarp, the powers that be for any sign that a totalitarian authority might reveal its beastly head. I don't think this is "best" site, but it stands alone as the most raw. The posters know the site is closely watched by TPTB and they seem to gallivant blamelessly as if fulfilling a program successfully. Pretty good stuff.

I frequent that site often. Love it. Hit or miss, though.
