The White House is planing a Facebook/Twitter bomb to support gun control. Let's organize our own pro-2A social media campaign in response. X-Post r/guns

Here is the link to the whitehouse.gov page about it. When they get to a social-reach of ~24 million people, they will post the following statement through the Facebook and Twitter accounts of everyone who signed up: "I support common-sense steps to reduce gun violence. #NowIsTheTime to act. Share this if you agree:" I think we should come up with our own hashtag and message and set up a similar system. What do you think?

the plan is to hijack their hashtag before they even use it. spread this hijacking to any other subreddit/website it will be well received.

"I support common-sense steps to reduce DHS gun purchases. #NowIsTheTime to act. Share this if you agree:"

This is perfect. We have to turn the script on them. Underline their hypocrisy. Videos like this will help too:

"I support common-sense steps to reduce gun violence, only under the circumstances that those already in lawful possession of guns retain their right to defend the people per our constitutional rights. #NowIsTheTime to act. Share this if you agree." I will probably modify this, but it's my general pov.

I'm definitely anti-changing the 2A, but the white house site makes it look like the goal of the campaign is to amp up background checks and such. As long as the 2A isnt altered or revoked, I don't have a problem with this. Am I missing something?

Background checks....but what about the national registry created by them? That is the main goal.

That's the point, it will make it LOOK like that.

You would think that, r/conspiracy, of all places, would be able to see that gun control is a non-issue intended to divide the American people and keep them voting for either Republicans or Democrats. sigh

Put that in your posts when you post about gun control. Here comes the White House Anti-Gun Facebook/Twitter bomb. Our country is going to the poor house and you waste your time trying to take more rights from us? Do something productive for once instead of using misdirection to avoid facing the truth of the dire situation our country currently is in.

You would think...

I dunno. I think we'd be better going for something with more universal appeal like economic recovery.

"I support common-sense steps to heal the economy. #NowIsTheTime to act! Share this if you agree."

Theres already enough people here who don't consider the DHS purchases to be as big a deal as they're being made out to be and gun control isn't even considered a bad thing by plenty of people. However I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't oppose economic recovery.

But I guess I'm the only one here who feels that way.

Hey I'm not big with Twitter and hashtags, but the White House is about to start a Twitter and Facebook anti-gun bomb. We need to spread the word to gun advocates to hijack this push. Take their own hashtags and label them with things like this: "I support common-sense steps to reduce DHS gun purchases. #NowIsTheTime to act. Share this if you agree:" so when people search twitter for these hashtags instead of getting anti-gun posts, they get a mix of both. It's what the Government does itself to fuel misdirection. Some people might argue against this, but the truth is, until we wear people out from this type of propaganda and get them to think for themselves instead of being sheep, it will continue. If we do this and post legitimate thought provoking discussion like fast and furious, gun control push to avoid the sequester, etc. we can get people focused back on the real issues at hand instead of the misdirection intended to turn us all against each other, instead of holding the corrupt accountable. Spread this or something similar around people, let's get this going so we can focus on real problems and maybe get things done in this country for once.

Im with the white house/Obama.

Then you're in the wrong subreddit.

r/politics is leaking.
