I am currently an intelligence analyst working in Afghanistan. I predict the USA will start seeing more IED, suicide vest bombs, and terrorist-style attacks this year.
127 2013-04-19 by [deleted]
I do not wish to fear-monger, but as things start breaking down economically across the globe, I expect to see more attacks in the USA. I do not know who will initiate these attacks, but I fear they will increase with more frequency, and martial law will be declared. I'd suggest you all familiarize yourselves on what IEDs are easily made, planted, and prime locations to be detonated. I see it here everyday. Good luck and I hope I'm wrong.
Edit: I'm not willing to discuss any classified information.

They didn't buy 2700 of them, they bought 16.
2 platinum_peter 2013-04-19
Source?
5 moparornocar 2013-04-19
There was a purchase order but it was for the Navy, not the DHS.
Here is a good write up explaining that, it is towards the bottom.
Here is an article talking about the use of the 16.
and a third talking about the conspiracy that was going around.
1 shakeshakeshakeshake 2013-04-19
The shit economy has ruined the NWOs plan to take over the world!
Im in Vermont and I did see one on the highway today though...probably because of the Boston Bombers chance of escaping to Canada up through Vt?
1 moparornocar 2013-04-19
Nah the order that was the origin of this conspiracy was just misinterpreted. The order was made for the Navy, but for some reason people thought they were going to DHS. So they are still out there, just not being used on our soil, but foreign soil.
1 BuckFritzl 2013-04-19
ok it's great that the DHS has them, but how do i get one?

'analysts' dont just sit around and come up with ideas out of nowhere. its the very definition of being an analyst. to analyze data.
where's the data?
6 Aizure 2013-04-19
You sound like a pog SPC that heard a few stories at the defac and want to feel important. I guess ip address and opsec and common sense mean nothing to you. Either that or youre just another loser posing as something youre not. Wanna talk about ieds, general make and design and what cells favor what construction and implementation? You even know the difference between an rcied, ppied, vbied and the rest? Or which falls into the voied catagory? Try walking point for a year in rc south than come and talk about ieds. Youre either a 12 yr old faker or a power point ranger that doesnt know shit. Get back to the desk and let the scare tactics stop. Youre lucky your CoC doesnt get notified with your ip address and writing style. Youd lose that security clearance fast as f*ck.

yeah, Ive seen enough in my time over there to be well versed in IEDs; such as make, design, materials, how long it takes to make em, how long it takes to plant em, the indicators, the likely personnel that placed it and the chain from the guy who digs the hole all the way up to the guy with the motive and guy with the money. The fact that OP posts shit like this stating a rise in US appearance and martial law is rediculous. Wannt knowledge in IEDs, its called google and wiki for anyone outside of the usual means that deal with them. I've got plenty of knowledge and info from firsthand exp, feel free to ask. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improvised_explosive_device
0 xinfinitimortum 2013-04-19
I was in RC-S on my last tour to Afghanistan. I can vouch for the amount of IEDs that were there. Also, I was an Intel Analyst there...
1 Aizure 2013-04-19
Im not saying there arent many ieds in RC South. Walking around there you think the dirt is explosive with how many you find in a day. From my time in RC East and RC South, the south is way more volitile with IEDs as the east is with direct fire engagements. I've seen the gap in intel from us on the ground dealing with the mess as it goes up the chain to Intel analyst's hands. Yeah Ive had to deal with EIDs first hand, and put on enough tourniquets over there.
1 xinfinitimortum 2013-04-19
I was in RC-E my first tour and RC-S my second. Honestly we saw more IEDs/SAF in the South than the East. It was the makeup of the IEDs that was the dramatic change...good times....

why would the government, or the people in charge of it, want martial law... its literally dangerous for every single member of the military to try to enforce martial law. this is ridiculous. you should be ashamed of yourself.
2 dog_on_acid 2013-04-19
It's a pre-emptive strike. It's all falling down in the end so they're just trying to establish control.
3 [deleted] 2013-04-19
It's not falling down. It's just changing. Control has been established for several decades.
1 dog_on_acid 2013-04-19

3 [deleted] 2013-04-19
uh, lets see, one guy throws a few pipe bombs out the window and shoots a cop and that results in the shut down of one of the nations largest cities and mobilization of an army of 10,000 law enforcement personelle with tanks, helicopters, and various forms of guns..... yea.. id say its pretty much fucking locked down.
This isn't GTA kid. You don't get to go to the paint and body and your wanted level disappears. You want to fight the man, you lose.
1 dog_on_acid 2013-04-19
Well yeah, it was a false flag.
1 [deleted] 2013-04-19
so who we going to declare war against? Angsty foreign teenagers on methamphetamines? False flags are usually committed to appear as if the enemy committed them.... there is no enemy here other than a lonely male in a foreign land who got mixed up in drugs and violence, and ruined his and his brother's life in the process.
This is no false flag. Now it might have been fostered and enabled by shadowy elements of our government... but that doesn't make a false flag. That's just law enforcement and intelligence fostering a reason for their continued existence.Law Enforcement and the CIA only exists if evil exists. And evil only exists, if its enabled.

38 [deleted] 2013-04-19
[deleted]
6 Deebalou 2013-04-19
It was actually designed to be applicable and withheld in these states. Having a standing army is technically illegal...a well maintained navy and militia are the only military duties specified within the original constitution - a standing army being only allowed to be in service for two years after peace is declared.
4 DCMurphy 2013-04-19
Well the framers lived in an era before the military-industrial complex.
And peace wasn't declared in '53 against Korea, just a cease-fire. I suppose that's being a bit pedantic and overly literal about the wording of "peace is declared", but the U.S army has been at war pretty constantly for a very long time.

0 Deebalou 2013-04-19
Oh i'm sure after the Cold War scares, and the begining of the the war on terror, that executive order was placed to ensure civil unrest would never be a threat to the institution. It's unfortunate - it kind of eliminates the concept of the first and second amendments, along with many articles that stipulate that the military can never be used against United States citizens.

2 Durzo_Blunts 2013-04-19
Why is everybody ripping on this guy so hard? For all the people who seem to have created a reddit account soley to shoot down conspiracies, pricecj doesn't seem to have been trying to force anybody to believe this. He was just saying, hey, heres my prediction. The man gave as much proof as he could without getting court marshalled or some shit. Not to mention, this isn't bad advice regardless of whether or not you think you'll be dealing with IEDs in your neighborhood. Hell, we all ought to know what they look like and how to avoid them anyway. Its naive to think that we'd never see one. But yes, we all hope not to. Never hurts to be prepared.
Thank you, pricecj, for the warning/prediction. Even if it doesn't come true, i'll be mentally prepared. And if it does happen, well, then we'll all be posting here again to say thank you.
2 RenobReptar 2013-04-19
You think you'll be prepared because you read some analysts expectations of IEDs becoming common place? Like watching a video of a truck vaporizing after hitting a pressure plate is going to harden you to the matter. NOTHING you do will prepare you for it, watch all the videos on youtube and play all the COD missions you want, you know jack shit about the realities of it.
edit: spelling.
1 Durzo_Blunts 2013-04-19
I think you took me a little bit too seriously. I don't mean that I would be Rambo-style prepared. I don't mean that I would, because of this post, see that IED a mile away and know exactly how to disarm it. What I meant was, and I apologize for leaving it unclear, that I would be more prepared. To the extent that I would be worried about an IED outside, rather than just going to walk my dog and step on one because I had no clue. Does that make sense?
Yeah, most certainly did not mean that I would be that kind of prepared.
Edit: Punctuation
2 RenobReptar 2013-04-19
I may have taken it a bit literal. The subject is touchy for me. I didn't mean to come off as an ass hat but it is what it is. No one is ever prepared for what happens, and without actual training and experience its ignorant to think the general public will know any better. IED's are destructive, maiming and cowardly but extremely effective. Educating yourself on them is a great step but they can literally be anywhere disguised as anything. It's a life of paranoia that you don't want to start down.
1 Durzo_Blunts 2013-04-19
You know, after I posted it (really, more so after you replied) I thought that I could have said that in a better way. I know, with what our deployed guys go through on a regular basis, that this is a touchy subject for some people, so I should have put more thought into my post.
I certainly agree that the life of paranoia is a slippery slope. Honestly, when I read through things in r/conspiracy, i take it with a grain of salt. I just enjoy seeing connections I never noticed before, even if they are ridiculous. And again, I was not implying that I would be the end-all know-all of IEDs, therefore impervious to them. I'm not that ignorant of things.
I'll try to go a little more in depth to better explain the point I wanted to get across. I thought of it more like this: Lets assume some organization or whatnot has already been setting up IEDs. Without having read this post, if I saw something on the news about an IED somewhere other than home, I would most likely assume that whatever was going on, it was happening there. On the other hand, having read this post, I would see an IED on the news, remember this post, and be cautious in my own city.
Does that help you understand what I meant? I hope so, because I didn't mean to offend you.
P.S. I'm thinking that, since the IED preparedness was a touchy subject for you, you may have been/be in the military. If so thank you for your service.
1 RenobReptar 2013-04-19
I was, in the Marines for a bit, but I'm not karma whoring because of it. I just don't want fhe public thinking because they watched tears of the sun they are combat experts. Untill you experience it first hand you don't know how you will react. Some people just need a reality check. IEDs suck, every bit of em.

1 sizzletron 2013-04-19
Has there been any analysis into whether the increased strength and resilience of MRAPs has contributed to the (terrorists' need for increased) size and effectiveness of bombs and IEDs?
2 RenobReptar 2013-04-19
Let me answer your question since the analyst knows only what he reads and the pictures command has on the cork board. Yes, IEDs have increased in size to compensate for the v shaped hulls on the new trucks. It's not uncommon to see them in the 100# range, more commonly in the 50-60# area. Fortunately the trucks do exactly what they are built for and do it extremely well. When I was deployed we didn't have any fatalities from IEDs in any of the mounted platoons/sections. More than a few trucks became useless though.

1 TomSwirly 2013-04-19
I do agree with you. And this fits in with a point I keep making here:
There's no need for the government to set up "false flag" operations. As the social safety net continues to break down, as the ability for an individual to get a fair shake continues to deteriorate - as the pressure builds up, individuals will snap all on their own, and the government won't have to do a thing.
So when, say, a Sandy Hook happens, may of you look for a false flag - whereas I wonder why there aren't more things like this happening all on their own.
In particular, do consider that most terrorists are males between 17 and 25 - and those are a group who particularly have limited hope for the future in the United States particularly.
Turn up the pressure and they'll snap.

I knew a guy who lied about being in boot camp - not even the armed forces, just boot camp. I never did find out for certain why he would lie about that.

So naturally, everything you hear is a lie from then on out.
2 LDukes 2013-04-19

Not to mention the primary motivating factor behind terrorist acts committed on U.S. soil: Jewish-directed U.S. foreign policy.

No... I have clues. I'm with you. I apologized for my sarcasm. But it still doesn't take a genie to see where this is heading.

Yeah, but if they wanted to find out who you are they could just look through your post history and match your financial gains/losses/investments to all the other Intelligence Analysts throughout Afghanistan.

It's true. I saw a picture of a guy sitting at his computer eating cookies the other day. Pretty sure it was him.
1 dog_on_acid 2013-04-19
