Something strange on CNN....

I was just watching CNN and they were talking to two people that knew the Bombing Suspect (Jahar). They said something strange, that is that he drove "a nice BMW". I wasn't recording it and it happened less than 10 minutes ago. I seems strange that we would be able to afford a BMW when he has said today that he can't afford a lawyer. Any ideas?

I also looked up his plate number that was reported on CNN, and Fox... and it doesn't exist even though there are pictures of the car with the number. https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/RegInquiry/regInquiry.aspx plate type is PAN (a normal passenger plate) and the number is 116 6C7. There is even a picture of the car here http://cdn.theatlanticwire.com/img/upload/2013/04/19/rendered/2fdbe7ca6a1d2d00ced8cceb0da3c238_300x187.jpg.

Only this also isn't a BMW it's a honda, but it was reported to be suspect #2's car.

Furthermore that plate number should be invalid ( it should be ### and then 3 letters). That configuration doesn't exist on an Mass. plates. Sorta weird?

where are you getting your info from? Go to google. Search "MA License Plates" and then hit images. I count 20 plates right off the bat that have 3 numbers and then a combination of numbers and letters

Well even if that is solved what about the invalid plate number on the Honda? I am now looking through police records for stolen BMWs will post results.

The Spirit of America plate that has been issued in pairs is still in use in four formats, the latest of which has just been released. The original Spirit plates were in the 3 number/3 letter format from WAA through ZZZ, followed by the 1234 AB format. The next format was the complicated 12A B34 format that is explained below. That format is still being issued for all months except October, keeping in mind that there are no passenger plates issued with November or December expirations.

I can tell you that this might be true in theory but I have never seen a mass. plate without the ###ABC format, I am going to go for a walk now to see if I can find any.

Yeah, I went for a walk I found some. The plate just looked strange to me but I admit you are correct. I also think you are right about me not realizing the Spirit of America is a vanity plate. Thanks for your help!

That was the car they stole

their parents bought it for them

It was bought before hard economic times but now thye have less money

A lawyer for such a high profile case is a lot of money.

I've went through his twitter and he had tweeted about WANTING a BMW and that one day he would own one but never said anything about having one. I have read on various sites that he drove a Honda.

I guess he usually drove a "nice BMW". There are also several pictures on his twitter showing him in and around nice cars, including one that shows him saying something about keeping a Toyota for the spring.

They are reporting that the BMW belonged to 2 friends of the bombing suspects,who were arrested for immigration violations.They supposedly rented or leased the car.The plate is a vanity plate not a real plate,you could purchase these at stores.He mentioned something about a Honda on his twitter..here it is.
