Dear shills and newbies. Welcome to /r/conspiracy. (Not to be confused with /r/news or /r/gardening.) In this forum, we discuss "conspiracy" theories. If you have no theories to present (or discuss), and you are simply here to troll and disrupt, we will report you to the mods.

I'm the quiet bystander who likes to stay informed.

I was too until this week. Can't people discuss without making character attacks? I've been called a Newtowntard I don't know how many times. I've never even said anything about Newtown except "why are people insisting I have some theory about Newtown?"

edit: the smartass below has a well established history of doing this to people.

So the people of Newtown didn't conspire to murder their children? ;)

Gotta keep an eye on those quiet ones.

So is it safe to disagree with a theory without being labeled a shill?

Absolutely. The name calling and derogatory comments some make are unwelcome.

Agreed and that is where moderators need to step in. Decorum. We can have differing opinions and we can argue about the minutiae, but if we can try to keep a modicum of respect, it would go a long way to building some credibility for this subreddit.

Good luck with that.

Yeah. Not holding my breath.

As long as you dont ask for evidence or give evidence which contradicts the conspracy

Well we know how this sub feels about things like evidence and facts.

Attacking the sub as a whole...

Do you disagree with Christianity and troll their forums?

Disagreeing with a specific theory doesn't mean you disagree with all theories. let's be honest, a lot of theories posted here are completely nonsense and everyone knows it. I mean, come on, there's still posts blaming victims and pretending like they're all just really really good actors, despite the fact that there was an obvious blast with obvious property damage and obvious injuries with real lives affected. Not only is that inane, it's incredibly disrespectful to those who were injured and the families of the deceased. It's also far worse than anything the government could do, basically treating everyone at the event as scum. And these posts should be responded to as such. However there are also some decently thought out theories, and these deserve intelligent discussion.

Although I may not believe in certain theories, I would never say it is disrespectful to anyone to theorise about any events. It is only idiots who accuse without evidence that do a disservice.

I believe that to question any traumatic incident and look at alternative causes or problems is a mark of respect. Our media have simply convinced us of the opposite.

That's just it though, they have no evidence, which makes it 1000x worse. It's simply "oh you were there? you're suspicious and we're going to invade your life!" I mean, call me crazy, but even the feds don't abuse citizens to this degree.

I really have no problem with people pouring over matters of public record, but yes I do agree invading other peoples lives over baseless suspicion is wrong.

However, I do reserve the right to call you crazy, more abuse than the Feds?

Stupid questions and harassment are not equatable to rendition, torture, imprisonment or denial of civil liberties.

Sorry what I meant was more along the lines of random citizens. Yes, the feds can do some nasty shit, but they don't just pick a random injured person at the the scene and assume they did it. They collect physical evidence, they talk to potential witnesses, they spend hours upon hours combing over surveillance footage before they bring the heat down on someone. They it it wrong sometimes, but they're careful.

But what some people in this sub do, they see a guy with mangled legs and automatically assume they're prosthetic. They refer to them as fake legs like that's an indisputable fact. They continually spread misinformation and label the victim a federal shill, continually flood the media with accusations of faked injuries, even though there is zero evidence to support this. They don't think, they just find the first scapegoat they can think of and latch on to it. The sub should be about free thinking, but they just replace presented facts with circumstantial assumptions with no thought process at all. They take whatever fits their deluded view of what they don't know and stick with it, never once questioning the things that don't fit.

there's still posts blaming victims

Hiding facts behind emotion is a fallacy designed to break down critical analysis. All ideas are worth exploring, if you can't wrap you head around it you're in the wrong sub.

incredibly disrespectful to those who were injured and the families

Again with the appeal to emotion. Finding the truth of an incident is about as respectful as you can get towards a family.

Nope. I make fun of them on /r/athesim. When it comes to religion, its more fun to argue with them in person. Then when they try to kick my ass I can remind them about turning the other cheek.

So basically you troll and never actually contribute to forums.

No, I question the information that is presented. I do research into debunking the "facts" that are really just "opnions" and (as my flair says) I play Devil's Advocate to the theory being presented. If a theory cant hold up under even light scrutiny, its not much of a solid theory.

No, I question the information that is presented.

Show me a single post you made questioning the media story.

Show me a single post you made questioning the media story.

No, I question the information presented by the conspiracy theorists: Opinion carefully disguised as fact.

So you are religious after all! You blindly accept a story based on faith, praise the idiot box!

You're adorable.

Sure just no name calling.

Why participate in a subreddit if you are not into conspiracy theories?

Can you imagine how infantile you have to be to tell yourself "Today, I think i'm going to go troll /r/conspiracy , that'll show 'em"

The Internet never fails to provide the brave souls that do that.

Dear OP. "Discuss" does not mean "agree with".

FYI

How many of these posts are there going to be? I'm going to start reporting people who call shill on any dissenting comment.

Uh yea, the memes can't even be kept out of here, so good luck with that.

So the presentation of evidence that debunks a theory is against your rules?

[deleted]

Yea, that's what I got from your title as well. Sort of reads like, "If you don't believe what is posted here and post your disbelief, you will be reported."

I mean, I like viewing this subreddit. I don't post much, but that's just because most times what I think has already been said. Doesn't mean I'm against you or anything.

Some here would call that disruption.

Why is this a post? This is clearly the work of a SHILL. SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNIE!

[deleted]

I down-voted your post because it contributes nothing to the subreddit.

Typical "anyone who disagrees with me must be a shill" way of thinking.
