My town is really weird right now...

Today in Holdenville, OK, A lot of rumours are being spread about how bodies were found. The OSBI is here in town and so are about 50 state troopers. We also saw a SWAT team. They were at the post office, this afternoon, with their guns drawn towards the front doors. I don't know. Everyone is scared. I watched the news tonight though and it was weird. They said they were looking for a missing guy named Eric Stephens. They went to a house that they said housed a guy who had a high-risk warrant. They brought in the OSBI, a SWAT team, and a lot of state troopers. They barged in and no one was home. All of this for a missing guy.. something is going on and I don't know what it is. http://www.koco.com/news/oklahomanews/around-oklahoma/warrant-issued-in-holdenville-missing-persons-case/-/12530084/20165232/-/77c6kz/-/index.html

I apologize for the mobile link. This talks about the protests that are currently going on near Holdenville, at the pipeline building site. It's that pipeline that goes all the way to Canada. Well. There were two protesters who encased their arms in cement and then chained themselves to barrels filled with cement. The other protestor also encased his arms in cement.. again I apologize.

so they encased their arms in cement... dont they know that stuff will eat your flesh off... or did they use human safe cement?

They don't encase their arms. They pour the cement in a way so it has a hole in the top of the cement that they can reach their arm into. Embedded at the bottom of the hole in the cement is a loop of rebar. They reach their handcuffed hand in the hole and attach the other end of the handcuff to the rebar. Source: I've known some activists.

Now that's dedication.

Indeed.

I imagine the barrels of cement they're "chained to" and the "arms encased in cement" is meant to describe the situation I outlined above. Their arms were handcuffed in holes in the cement in the barrels.

No, it is fucking ignorant. Ask anyone who works with concrete. Long periods of even casual skin contact is detrimental. While I may applaud their intent, their method is fucking idiotic.

Nobody ever mentioned it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they line the hole with some paint, or wear a sock on their arm or something.. They don't plan on being there for just an afternoon...

Wow...that still doesn't sound comfortable.

How the hell do they free themselves?
1 [deleted] 2013-05-16
The cops came and freed them with sledgehammers and drills.
1 Wilwheatonfan87 2013-05-16
Yeesh. Figured they have some way to free themselves, though.

Here is a report that says a narcotics team is involved as well. Will be keeping an eye on this.

Itd be cool if we could get some underground journalist filming the event.

For anyone confused about OSBI like I was, It's Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

How did this suddenly turn from a swat team raiding the post office and searching for someone to talks about a protest in the comments?
2 [deleted] 2013-05-16
The post was about the current weird things going on in Holdenville.
1 [deleted] 2013-05-16

Okay, So the current craziness in holdenville I will give you a timeline.
5-13-13: Gayland Moore, 38, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound. Yeah he was actually shot in the neck with a shotgun by Franklin Combs a.k.a. Slick, 53.
5-14-13: Protests continue at Keystone pipeline construction site here in Holdenville. Protesters are doing stupid things like encasing (still using that word) their arms in concrete and chaining themselves to concrete barrels.
5-15-13: Eric Stephens reported missing. Officers think foul play is possible. Officers call in OSBI, a SWAT team, and state troopers to search a high- risk warrant home, because he was a person of interest. He wasn't home.
5-16-13: Kyle Morris, the person of interest, is pissed that they raided his house. http://www.news9.com/story/22276364/police-family-look-for-answers-in-case-of-missing-holdenville-man
5-17-13: Eric Stephens is found dead. http://www.tulsaworld.com/article.aspx/Missing_Holdenville_man_found_dead_in_Seminole_County/20130517_11_0_Thebod15421?subj=298

Could that first murder and the missing man have to do with people who leased land for the pipeline?
1 [deleted] 2013-05-16
I doubt it. Honestly, we can completely forget about the pipeline stuff. I over heard a man talking at the gas station and he said that the main drug dealers in the big cities are starting to send people to small cities and take over. They are trying to send a message now. They knew that guy was in danger when he went missing.

Just so YOU know, the weed in Oklahoma will not get you high.
6 [deleted] 2013-05-16
Half of the pot heads here in town are like 14. If you even bring up the word "weed" they usually get excited and respond with, "Awe Man! You wanna come to my birthday party!"
6 Scoled321 2013-05-16
Beer is only 3% as well. It's like my grandpa used to say. "Fuck Oklahoma".
2 mvlazysusan 2013-05-16
How else is the establishment going to drive then to trying Meth?
2 Scoled321 2013-05-16
