Nationwide "Ground Stop" at all airports

0  2013-06-22 by [deleted]

My girlfriend just reported this from Oakland international no news online

Update 1- My Gf just called and said there's no new news other than a Nationwide ground stop ordered by air traffic control. She also says airport staff is being vague.

Update 2- /u/Scoled321 found this

BreakingNews: A @SouthwestAir "system outage" delays flights nationwide. Flights in the air are not affected. We're working on more info.

Update on Southwest: All grounded Southwest Airline planes will return to gates to allow passengers to deplane - @CNN via @jakeacarpenter

Update 3- Just got a call from my girlfriend, system is back up, and she is about to board. Sorry for the scare guys. I'm going to downvote this post, I would ask that you do the same so people don't see it on the front page of /r/conspiracy. Have a good night all.

Just found this. Is she on Southwest Airlines?

If she is on Southwest then it's just a computer glitch. FAA is making them shutdown nationwide. Doesn't seem like a huge deal.

Yes she is, good work. I hope that's all it is, a system outage.

well sorry for the scare, it freaked me out a bit to hear that.

Wtf? Good god man, update if she gets any news.

will do

What's really strange is that there are no reports of delays anywhere even her flight which was scheduled to take off already...

Yeah, I just checked out Sea-tac and Anchorage online. Some say landed or in air, some say delayed, others don't say anything

I checked Oakland and there are a number of planes that have been in "boarding" status for over an hour.

This is strange

This could be, I have no clue though. I hope that this is the case, but its hard to know, because there is no news being posted about it.

Are you in contact with your gf or does she not have the ability to keep in touch right now?

Is she already boarded or waiting?

This shit is freaking me out right now.

yes I am in contact with her, but she has not boarded

Well...well...can she ask someone? What's the tone of the environment like? Are people worried, curious, irritated--

Man, if it were me over there I'd be calling the local news and letting them know.

I wouldn't worry read my update it seems like a southwest system outage sorry for the scare

Well there ya go.

Just found an update online about a small plane crash at that airport. Is she sure it's national

http://www.pittsburghstar.com/index.php/sid/215358052/scat/3e0f27c4f0bf8c91

she's not at the Michigan airport she's at Oakland, CA and yes she has been told by southwest employees that it is indeed nationwide. but good find

Got it. The one I linked was called the Oakland int airport in waterford MI.

It's strange that there are two Oakland international airports in the US haha easy mistake

Probably unrelated but Springfield, MO airport SGF had all runway lights off when I left work two hours ago. My company's plane was sitting there on the tarmac waiting to take off once lights are restored.

If anyone knows anybody that works at an airport on the west coast try contacting them to find out whats going on. All east coast flights have taken off for the night.

Airline employee here, at work. This is ridiculous.

Is it just a southwest system outage?

My understanding is that other airlines are affected, but that is unofficial.

hmm... gf just called and said system is back up and she's boarding. Anything different on your end?

I'm still down. I heard we had grounded all flights. I hope that your gf is right!

she just texted and said she just boarded, and she's on the plane.

I hope that is going to happen, everything is still down where I am.

This is strange

she just texted and said she just boarded, and she's on the plane.
