Nearly 99% of Americans Did Not Watch the Mainstream News this Past Friday: Fox, MSNBC, and CNN are Officially Dead

It is baffling more people are not discussing the abysmal ratings of the major mainstream media outlets. On Friday during prime hours after the work week, approximately 3.5 million Americans watched Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, and Headline News. As a percentage of the total American population, this amounts to a bit over 1%.

You can find the raw ratings here, both for the 25-54 demographic and the total viewership: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/the-scoreboard-friday-july-12_b188438#more-188438

WAKE UP, PEOPLE. THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE DEAD. THEY BENEFIT THE ESTABLISHMENT ELITES AND IGNORE THE ISSUES YOU CARE ABOUT.

EDIT: The full numbers for the Zimmerman trial are not yet available, but even for this massively hyped-up media event we find that approximately 97% of the total American population did NOT watch the Zimmerman verdict on Fox, MSNBC, or CNN.

Wtf is keeping them on the air

Look at who owns them.

:(

noone watched it on CNN, foxnews, or MSNBC Because HLN was the only channel with gavel to gavel coverage.

It does not matter if tomorrow every cable subscriber in the US cancelled their subscription and stopped paying the bill: those stations would be subsidized out of their taxes to stay on the air saying the exact same thing as today.

If only 1% is listening then who gives a fuck. Babble on

Because not only is the television used as a tool used to plant opinions in people's minds, in return the talking points themselves are used as the symbol of the people's will. Look at how the president of the US keeps trying to change US law based on miniscule events portrayed on the television as something Earth-shattering.

Businesses would still show it, so they would still get eye balls, and thus advertising dollars.

Our tax dollars...

Everyone who subscribes to cable and dish tv.

Yeah, I agree with this. I mostly see people reading the filth.

I like to compare msnbc, fox, and CNN - not so much for news or anything. Truth isn't necessarily the middle ground between a bunch of lies. Then I go to alternative news sites and take a look at their sources to try to see what appears credible. I end up wading through a lot of junk but I find it a helpful exercise.

You watch the biggest loud mouth about divisive agendas on Fox and MSNBC between 7-11p each night. They almost sound like they are being remote controlled. With the same narrative and the same baseless arguments. Mainstream media has been dead to me since 2000 elections.

People are catching on, some of the more moderate people I know are beginning to express distrust for mainstream media.. Especially after the initial Snowden leak.

Can we please stop telling people to wake up in all caps? Especially in this sub where we wouldnt be here unless we'd, in one way or another, lifted the blindfold? (Of course that doesnt mean weve been able to make out exactly what it looks like on the other side, but we are looking).

Awesome news. I have nearly avoided all the typical MSM sites, sometimes going there by mistake when clicking a link. I will not even give them the "web hit". rt.com is actually one of my favorite now

Good, those idiots who regurgitate the White House talking points will start getting paid less. And the editors. And the producers. And the CEOs.

Gotcha!

They exist solely for the 1%. That's clearly the only people watching them.

People still have the authority over their own minds at the end of the day, for now at least anyway. If they choose to believe the mainstream story, it shows they are severely mentally handicapped of the ability of critical thought.
