Does Anybody Remember The Truman Show w/ Jim Carey (1998)? - "We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented"

I remember seeing this film when I was younger and really never thought twice about it, but watching it 15 years later the film has a whole new meaning. Does anyone remember this movie and know what I am talking about?

Basic Plot: Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is the unsuspecting star of The Truman Show, a reality television program in which his entire life, since before birth, is filmed by thousands of hidden cameras, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and broadcast live around the world.

That movie is absolutely amazing. The guy orchestrating it all tried so hard to stop Mr. Truman and break his spirit... but only to prove to himself that mankind had what it took to prevail despite the odds. Makes me wonder if this is what all this police state shit is about, maybe we're destined to break free when we're ready. Who knows how many times this has happened before... look at all the wars that have been fought because it was the governments calling the shots and manipulating the minds of the people. When we have the power to stand up and tell the government to cease this madness, we will be ready to rip our way beyind the painted sky....

In order for this to happen humanity must been given the tools of self-education. So many people are purposefully left in dark and are then aptly fooled by the power holders of the time. Humanity must learn that they are each their own individual leaders and do not need some shepherd to guide them.

It was basically an adaption on Plato's The Cave.

The average American has no clue about Plato's writings or the Caverns of Socrates.

Why would they? this stuff is not taught in school unless you take philosophy. Next question, why isn't this stuff taught to everyone? One could say our school system is an adaptation on the Allegory of the Cave...

Right about the time they stopped teaching Latin and the Classics, unfortunately, somewhere in the 50's-60's.

Something happened in the 50's...I don't know what, but it seems to me that's when the S really started to hit the fan...

That whole military industrial complex thing got started and the Cold War got officially inflamed.

I would tend to agree, we were forewarned.

I just watched the Truman Show again last week, it's an entertaining movie that provokes thought.
