They used to be here, but several years ago the subreddit went from actual conspiracy stuff to r/theusgovernmentsucks.

in the conspiracy circle, all that spying on people was not common knowledge yet. When it came to light with revelations of the nsa, the suspicion was lifted. It was a fact. For many years preceding this event, even up until the snowden revelations, you would have been considered batty for believing it. It was the definition of a conspiracy theory.

Remember it, if you try to diminish this fact it drops the value of the events revelations, and makes years worth of lies, torture, and the like seem acceptable.

It seems like a lot of people stopped posting when the Snowden stuff came out. I think, even though some spying was pretty common knowledge, the extent was not really known. They assumed they were at least somewhat anonymous, posting under a pseudonym or through a couple of proxies. But that's unfortunately not the case.

In reality, NSA sniffs everything. They infiltrate and subvert everything. They data-mine everything. They store everything they can. They are very sloppy in their methods. And the data is easily available to be used for some very criminal stuff.

There's a reason my username is what it is, and has been for over a decade now.
