RIP /u/161719, the recent bestof drama has caused this user to delete their reddit account.

For the last couple of days we have all been moved by the words forged by /u/161719. We were then shocked that his words were censored (curated) from /r/best of. We were then amused at the nuke from orbit approach that the /r/bestof mods took by banning any comment that originated from /r/conspiracy from being accepted in their "curated" space. And as if this wasn't enough, they then removed all of /u/161719's comments from /r/bestof, included the highest voted comment in the history of /r/bestof which happened to be authored by /u/161719.
161719 did the equivalent on reddit of self immolation, he deleted his account.

I have to admit that I was relieved, only slightly, when I discovered that his account was self-deleted and not banned by reddit. And I would be lying if I didn't admit that I am considering doing the same with my own account.
161719 didn't hate Jews. He didn't even hate Israel. He hated the state's policies on how they have handled this tragic situation with the Palestinians, he hated that we aren't being told both sides of the story. My perception, and I could be wrong, was that he was embarrassed when he found himself on the other side of that wall. Embarrassed that he wasn't aware that anything was wrong, that he couldn't help.
A person doesn't accidentally get featured on /r/bestof 5 or 6 times, that only happens when someone demonstrates a clarity of thought and perspective. When someone is consistently wise.
I'm not going to go so far as to say that reddit doesn't want wisdom, but /r/bestof certainly doesn't. They want entertainment. They don't want people tackling troublesome geopolitical issues.
Its okay to bash the Saudis for their religious overtones, but please... leave Israel alone. We aren't allowed to discuss their flaws.

I'd like to point out that the guilded section of /r/bestof is all filled with rhetoric about Israel and how lovely they are. Just briefly glancing at the page I count EIGHT posts on the guilded page that were direct "rebuttals" to /u/161719's post.
That's somewhat insulting.

i think you mean glided right?

Dude, are you the mod who removed the post from bestof? If so, why? Is it because it was part of r/conspiracy? Just want to know whatever the reason was.
-2 soupyhands 2013-11-07
nope, i'm not.

You are listed as a mod for that subreddit - perhaps you know what the decision process is for deciding why particular submissions are removed?
-3 soupyhands 2013-11-07
The decision process is entirely rooted in the rules. They are listed in the sidebar.
6 jrriddle 2013-11-07
Which rule was broken?
2 fuckyoua 2013-11-07
The first rule of Israel Club.
2 tyberus 2013-11-07
Rule 8: The moderators reserve the right to remove posts and comments at their own discretion.

This whole thing is just a microcosm of what's happening globally when ANYONE says ANYTHING slightly negative about Israel.
6 Flytape 2013-11-07
I agree.

Israel bombed Syria last week, twice in fact, and barely a PEEP in the media
Now flip that around. What would have happened if Syria bombed israel?

Did he delete it himself or did the admins delete it? They're the only ones able to ban an IP address.
-2 Flytape 2013-11-07
It looks like he deleted it himself.
2 SovereignMan 2013-11-07
How are you able to verify that?
0 Flytape 2013-11-07
To verify whether banned or not: http://www.reddit.com/user/xxxxxxxx/about.json (if deleted it will display " {"error": 404} ")
1 [deleted] 2013-11-07
Isn't there two types of bans so you wouldn't be able to tell?
3 eyesareitchy 2013-11-07
You are doing a serious disservice to anyone who has actually self-immolated for their cause by comparing the deletion of an account to a fiery death.
Seriously. Guys. How are we all this surprised by this?
2 AssuredlyAThrowAway 2013-11-07
We need to hear from OP himself as to the timeline over the past few hours.
1 Flytape 2013-11-07
I would like to hear from him.
I don't think that we will. There may even be imposters that we hear from.
1 AssuredlyAThrowAway 2013-11-07
His Syntax is unique and I've known him for a while. We'll see. I'm stupid, I meant to get him on my private irc but couldn't get him offsite in time :(.

Did automod pull this when he deleted his account?

Does anyone know /u/161719 real name or a way to contact him?
1 Christ_Forgives_You 2013-11-07
Do we have copies of all the posts?
3 Flytape 2013-11-07
Yes.

Always make copies of everything that you see being censored on reddit, it is the only way they will stop. They know press can v4 them.
0 CaptFluffyBunny 2013-11-07
Are you being sarcastic when you equate deleting a reddit account to pouring gasoline over your body and lighting yourself on fire, dying a painful death?
Are they really in the same ballpark in your mind?
0 Flytape 2013-11-07

This is what bullying leads to. They should make bullying illegal.
2 startledCoyote 2013-11-07
What was the bullying?
-5 know_comment 2013-11-07
the mods bullied u/161719, and this is the result. He's probably laying dead somewhere in a ditch.
