This. The ordering of CNN.com's homepage, or pretty much any for-profit news agency (read: 99.99% of them) isn't a conspiracy. They are putting up what generates the most click-through traffic to maximize page views. Their loyalty is to the shareholders, not the American people as a whole, as is the design of a corporation in the first place. The unfortunate truth is that more people care about a guy faking sign language at a funeral and the scare-tactic du jour than they do about current events and hard news.
Hell, even reddit orders its front page the same way.
CNN is so for profit they will take money from foreign and domestic governments to run stories favorable to them. But Im sure this does not affect their "Objectivity" in the least.
Their loyalty is to the shareholders, not the American people as a whole,
That's the conspiracy. Journalism shouldn't care as much about profit, like doctors they have other ethical priorities. I'm a hardcore libertarian and I understand that.
I would agree with you but there are lots of those type of things that shareholders and profits trump. Mind you I'm not saying don't fight against them but it is a fight.
That's because it doesn't fit the narrative and real doesn't matter here. Up is down. Just like yesterday's fiasco regarding the diatribe against reddit that was removed but really wasn't ever removed.
If by fiasco you mean a borderline unstable user spamming a diatribe over and over while the mods and admins literally never did anything to censor him... then yes. That's a fiasco.
As the poster clearly said, it was removed for most of the day before being reinstated hours later under the "new" section with all of its upvotes and comments still attached. You don't know what you're talking about.
Well, the currently 11 downvotes on Dirtybrd's comment (stating it was right off the front page of cnns website) appears to disagree with you. Well the downvotes don't, but the 11 people behind them do.
yes but this is international edition (if you are not from USA you get automatically redirected to international edition)
Since I am not from USA - I had to click link for USA edition and atm on the front page is "Kim Yong UN killed his uncle" article and "US drones killed 15 Yemenis" is not even in the sideline newsbar
As a little side news on the left hand side, missing important information too, it just reads "Yemens outraged by U.S. drone strike". Only once you get through to the article can you read the real headline which includes "killing 14".
I love the part where "U.S. Officials declined to comment on the report.
Over in the UK the state-funded BBC is doing it's best to ignore and downplay the event too. There's not a mention on the homepage, but a big section dedicated to Nelson Madela still. Once you manage to find the article though they again have downplayed the headline as "Yemen wedding hit by deadly airstrike". They leave out the information that this wedding convoy was innocent and the attack was a mistake, and then even spend the rest of the article pointing out what bad guys the Al Qaeda are.
I asked a conservative republican yesterday if he had even heard of the civilians killed by the drone strike and he had no idea what I was talking about.
How many people died in the Boston Bombing? 3? 4? This is 15. Where is our huge rememberence? Our constant programming, our contstant memoriums? thats the point.
Well 20 kids getting murdered in a first world country is a little different then a drone strike in a third world country. Sure drone strikes are bad but there is tons of shit that happens out there that barely makes the news
It's always been entertainment. They're driven by advertising dollars, and the more butts they get in seats watching ads, the better off they are. This is not new. This is not novel. This is the way corporate-sponsored news agencies work.
They are all pushing an agenda, even if that agenda is as inoffensive as "watch us instead of the other guy." This should not be surprising to anybody.
The burden of proof lies on you, not me. I'm not the one making ridiculous claims. Also, Cooper was an intern at the CIA during college. If that equals a conspiracy then everything is a conspiracy. Oh god, it's all so clear now.
its the third link in latest stories, its almost as if they cycle through the front )pictured) stories over the course of a couple of hours based upon what people are finding most interesting.. of course this is a conspiracy just because they arn't picking what you think is the most important
I know nobody wants to hear it, but, nobody has released who's drone it was. So even though it could very likely be of U.S. origin, nobody knows.. Also what did you expect from mainstream media?
It was speculation either way. I saw tons of posts about how it was obamas drone before anyone said anything about U.S. involvement. i just think its funny how everyone was pointing a finger without any knowledge of the actual event. just the fact that it was a drone. The mindset for everyone: drone....drona...droba...drobam....drobama.....obama...OBAMA..
I think people confuse "hidden" with overwhelming apathy.
Thing is though, if CNN made a really big deal out of this and ran it as a top story for a while - the sheep (yes I'm using that term) would clamor about and would be outraged.
How is blowing up a wedding party helping us fight the war on terror? Oh right, it creates more terrorists - because what would you do if a drone killed your family?
I don't think you get it. A proper police state cannot function if the news goes around telling people the stuff they NEED to know. It only works when you fill their heads with useless stuff.
Did you know the Fast & Furious guy was killed? It was major news.
Also, they were more pre-occupied with what crazy North Korea's gonna do next after Kim Young Ill executed his uncle. Great opportunity to pump fear into Muricans about a nucular attack.
No where on the BBC either. It's even buried as a footnote on the dedicated "Middle East" section. Shows how much value the media place on certain peoples lives...
cause it'll destroy the narrative of obama being the president everyone has to like. it'll take away from the constant republican bashing they have lined up 24/7.

Right off the front page.

This should be the top reply.
The article which OP says is not on the front page is clearly on the front page. Come on people, at least check CNN's homepage yourself.
12 australianconspiracy 2013-12-13
if at some stage during the day it was prominent, then it doesn't matter when you look later, they change the front page for maximum clicks.

Does this qualify as a conspiracy?
1 Ambiguously_Ironic 2013-12-13
By definition yes, it does.
-2 [deleted] 2013-12-13
That's the conspiracy. Journalism shouldn't care as much about profit, like doctors they have other ethical priorities. I'm a hardcore libertarian and I understand that.

If everyone thought like us, they would change. I haven't visited CNN.com in years.
2 staiano 2013-12-13
Oh I agree. Unite to fight against the dumbness that is cnn reporting.
2 veksone 2013-12-13
True but if they don't turn a profit they can't stay on the air...
0 JasonDJ 2013-12-13
I wouldn't call that a conspiracy, since that word technically means that it is done in secret. I'd call it the system working as designed.
1 [deleted] 2013-12-13
It's of interest to the conspiracy community.

-7 TheWiredWorld 2013-12-13
Is that really what you think this place is or are you always dramatic?
5 snoil 2013-12-13
I wouldn't say dramatic, just pointless. Every comment is about what is or isn't on cnns front page, who the fuck cares? Discuss the drone strikes.
1 staiano 2013-12-13
CNN is about entertainment value that is why you see Britney Spears stories on there too.
Even though the article was there sometimes the lack of it would not actually automatically mean a conspiracy and is just about $$$$
2 Dr__House 2013-12-13

1 kickercvr 2013-12-13
14 hours later, I can't deny, it is on the FRONT page. Under Latest News, #3 in list.

Blow up some muslims at a wedding abroad? No big deal. Have a lone gunman kill some kids? OH MY GOD.
What a racist blind and insensitive media we have. Real news died during the cold war, because of it no network today is spin free.
2 FockSmulder 2013-12-13
A comparison to the Boston bombings better isolates the home-town bias. With Sandy Hook, they have the Children to think of.

Also, Anderson Cooper worked for the CIA... I'm sure he quit.
