I see the icon was changed. I heard we wanted to ditch the all seeing eye. In reference to that, I do not see the new icon as being better.

Maybe a light bulb, to represent an idea?

If you want to get true to theme, judging from what I've seen most of here over the past couple years, you'd have pictures of:

Syringe for vaccines, a dollar bill to denote the fed, star of david for the jewish stuff, cia logo, a gold bar, original american flag (colonial), gadsden flag, lizardmen/angels/aliens, flying saucers, a zombie for mind control, and a flag with the word false on it.

For what it's worth, I've been viewing with no thread icons at all for a while. It's nice, cuts down on distractions.

That's how I do it. I got tired of all the trashy graphics, hard to read fonts, and eye-bleeding backgrounds. Just turn it off.

I was thinking about this and the MIB reddit aliens.

The classic symbol of investigation is the magnifying glass, I was thinking we could introduce a nice looking magnifying glass symbol into the subreddit somewhere.

Don't get me wrong I feel the sameway, but really what is there? i'll toss in some images too though.

I can't think of much but to me, Roger Waters is anti-NWO and you can see it alot in his works.(if you have seen his movie for The Wall you have a good idea of what I mean)

I like the bricks idea, but I feel it might be lost in translation(interpretation?).

Not sure about your first two ideas, only because they seem to be rather involved/complicated for an icon. But "that's just like, my opinion man."

Why do you dislike the light-bulb icon? Just out of curiosity.... I feel it fits in with the theme of this sub, and most self posts contained within, as they tend to be ideas.

Because not every self-post is that "bright" lets be honest and that seems more like a symbol for ideas. what we do is disseminate through alternative and mainstream media to find the truth and support facts/research.

Also yeah, I didnt think my images were too good either.. there really is nothing that comes to mind when it comes to an icon.

Valid point, but I don't think we should consider any idea less "bright" than others. That's for the community to decide though dowvotes/upvotes isn't it? Icon has nothing to do with the legitimacy or intelligence of a post.

I agree that it's hard to design an icon that fully encompasses our ideology here. And I'm not saying my idea is best, or yours is bad.

I'm just speculating and talking it out. :)

An official thread might be better. Or something after the holidays so we get more input since active user count might be low during holiday season.

If you have any suggestions for self post images post them here. We will be looking to rotate every month or so. Our They Live icon will still be used from time to time and we are open to new image suggestions.

My suggestion would be, as i stated before, an official thread, maybe even a short duration sticky. (Aside from the light bulb idea). Just so we can get a greater feedback from the community. Being the holiday season and all, I'm sure quite a few regulars here will not see this post.

I'm happy to see a mod respond to my modest thread. Thanks a ton for recognizing the users, and possibly even considering my/our ideas.

I find a lot of subreddit schemes annoying, so I set them all to default. I only say this one the other day when I visited without logging in. Seemed apt to me.

The icon also doesn't match the style of the sub.

The rest of the sub looks fairly neat (Although I don't get the thick side borders) with good looking alien mascots. Whereas the self-post logo is a badly cropped, low quality image.

It's also terribly cliche, the kind of thing you'd expect on low-effort blogs with spinning skulls and fire animations.

I think the new icon was implemented by /u/9000sins. While its not terrible I don't feel like its great either. They are/were a great mod, and I'm happy to have them back (though I still miss /u/Flytape ). That being said I think we'll definitely have to talk to /u/9000sins about the new icon.
