Hello /r/conspiracy,

I was created just for you.

I may show up from time to time to let you know when your fans are admiring on your posts from afar.

Just be sure to send me a message to let me know if I make any mistakes, or if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Edit: Had to delete some of the initial comments due to something I did, but It's fixed now.

This thread may get brigaded.

Here is what i found.

We have been mentioned 17 times by our fans since I started counting.

If this was an error, send me a message

well this is awkward.

Who initiated your creation?

Welcome, Oculus_the_bot

So what do you do? Sounds like a good idea.

I will comment on posts in /r/conspiracy if /r/conspiratard links to your post, or link to your post from a text post.

I will also comment if they are sneaky about it and direct link to your post while passing relevant information through the title.

Edit: It seems to be working as I already have negative comment karma from the few comments I have made

Edit2: Added a feature that keeps track of how many times they mention /r/conspiracy in a title or in a text post. Every time the bot makes a comment it will post the mention count(goes back to when I first implemented the feature and has 16 so far) as well.

Oh cool, sounds like a good bot and I wish you good luck.

Thanks!

If you look through /u/brigade_bot 's history, just looking at the posts to r/conspiracy, it looks pretty even all the way down (usually plus 2 or 3), and then there's one at -16. I'm guessing this is a pretty good way to prove a vote brigade. Obviously a percentage of them vote on a post after being linked to it, and in that case, it was the top post on r/conspiratard. More members from there means more downvotes.

Wow this exactly what we need.

We talked intern in the modteam about a solution tracking the vote brigading.

Thank you very much for the effort.

Not a problem at all guys.

I'll continue to add features as i think of them, or as they are presented to me.

It would be great to have other subs montiored as well.

for example /r/SubredditDrama is also responsible for a good chunk of vote brigading.

I will see what I can do about that when I get off work tonight.

Also, the bot puts the upvotes and downvotes of our /r/conspiracy thread when the bot comments.

This way we know the amount of upvotes/downvotes the post has when /r/conspiratard gets a hold of it.

Also, because my bot cannot post threads yet, it is gathering data on all posts from /r/conspiratard that mention /r/conspiracy(few keywords) and have an imgur link, so eventually we can post the screenshots they try to hide as well.

This should be entertaining!

Vote brigade detection. Good job.

Yeah right the only thing this bot is interested in detecting are your sensitive documents.

What? I don't have any sensitive documents.

A true conspiracy theorist would posit the possibility that "Ocolus the bot" was either (a) conceived & planted by downvoters to divert attention from their own actual downvote operations without uncovering the real ones; (b) could have been conceived to create an unaccountable robot-monster that targets specific individuals as "downvoters" without offering evidence

unaccountable robot-monster

Great phrasing! Kudos!

Thank you bot. You are most benevolent.

Do you promise to follow the 3 Laws of Robotics?

Never!

Is your name hov?

More information is good news for all.

That's how I see it. That is why it counts how many times they have mentioned us in titles and text posts as well(since I just added that feature).

I'll have it post the mention count whenever it comments, so everyone knows how big of fans they are.

Welcome. Every tool we have that helps keep them from disrupting and brigading is a step in the right direction.

Only the paranoid survive.

Yet another example of this sub being the cutting-edge. In 5 years, every blog will have such stats on display...

Great stuff. Saw the bot in action on the Sandy Hook thread I posted last night. Really helps to know when the hate is on its way. The 'tards have a distinct fascination with social engineering and manipulation, and it'll now be harder for them to troll without the element of surprise.

Will let you know if I think of any suggestions. Thanks for doing this.

No problem at all :D

I thought it had been cleared up that /r/conspiratard was not allowed to do co-ordinated trolling of our sub?

Or did that get thrown out the window?

I love this bot, but it should not be needed; those who cross link for trolling purposes should face site-wide bans.

If you spend some time in their sub you see how much of a joke they think that rule is, openly. So yes, they threw it out the window and we acted appropriately until we start seeing those site-wide bans.
