Introducing a flair system for posts which report censorship in other subreddits.

39  2014-03-31 by AssuredlyAThrowAway

Hello,

I have decided to roll out an idea which I have been mulling over for a few weeks now with regards flaring posts which expose censorship in other subreddits. The intention here is to make categorization and historical searching of these threads a bit easier.

This idea originated here and users seemed to be in support of the proposal.

I will now begin the process of flaring posts that I come across which deal with reports of censorship in other subs.

If I miss your submissions dealing with censorship in other subs for whatever reason, by all means feel free to PM me and I will add the appropriate flair.

By all means please leave any feedback, questions, or concerns here and I will adapt this system as needed.

Overall the general intention of this idea (amalgamating the method of undelete with the discussion centric approach often used here) is well summed up by /u/oblivioustoobvious,

People can scan /r/undelete for nefarious removals and then xpost them here so we can tag/discuss them.

and I wish to thank him for that valuable contribution to this idea.

Cheers and regards,

AATA

Might also want to scan /r/longtail for deletions from another top 900 subreddits.

This would also make for interesting "weekly censorship recap" threads.

Why yes, yes it would. I almost feel like we could produce a weekly serial on meta reddit censorship. I wonder if anyone else would wish to help out?

This sounds like a great idea, and I think it will really show visitors to our sub just how much censorship is going on throughout Reddit.

Excellent initiative.

Flair added, thank you sir.

I wondered what happened, all I did was blink my eyes.

Wow, thanks for the shout out. :)

I am excited and a little bit scared to see how well this helps shine even more light on censorship on reddit.

Hi,

Thank you for your link, I remember that specific incident quite well.

However I need to let you know that you've been shadowbanned by the reddit admins. I don't know why this happened on what you did to draw their ire.

However, I will approve your comments and submissions if I see them in /r/conspiracy.

Thank you, that is exactly the type of submission I will flair.

Yeah its the parent submission of the til I mistakenly posted.

Yea, thanks for that.

Did you just go from shadowbanned to not shadowbanned during the course of this conversation? If so how did you pull that off?

Am I not now? Never knowingly been sbanned before but aware of what it was. Didnt think I had done anything wrong . Have crosslinked witout .np though. Was going to ask if the use of user history bot in this thread may constutute doxxing http://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/21sm46/mod_abuse_on_reddit_problem_reacton_solution/ constitute doxxing or something? Am I not shadowbanned currently?

You are currently not shadowbanned.

However, 35 minutes ago you were shadowbanned but then 15 minutes ago you randomly become unshadowbanned.

That was a very strange series of events. I don't see any doxxing in that thread that you linked and unless you were calling for votes admins won't shadowban simply for crossposting without np.

Do you think voting on np. Links might do it? Im on my phone mostly and the option to vote is enabled. Do you know the link to message the admins? Not sure I should contact me lest they examine my behaviour more thoroughly but its a bit irksome.

My advice would be to just leave it be for the moment. If they hit your account again you can message them at the /r/reddit.com modmail.

This is an awesome idea - I'm curious to see how it'll play out.

Does censorship include breaking the rules of a subreddit?

That guy has such a raging boner (emphasis on the rage part) for us. He seems to be the OP for nearly every c-tard x-post I see.

Yep, it's crazy. He probably accounts for half the comments this bot makes...

Also strange that he implies "conspiracies" of his own some times in his xposts. A bit hypocritical if you ask me.
