Why do you say "by 2017"? I talked to a fellow doomer a few days ago who was convinced it'd be during the elections this fall and I've seen all sorts of other time frames. IMO another 2008 on its own won't be The Cause for the dollar losing global reserve status, but the ramifications of and responses to another correction could definitely hasten it. I have a very hard time guessing at when losing reverse status will happen though. The dollar is in a bad way, for sure.

It is best not to worry, but be prepared. When and if shit hits the fan, you will have no control over the result other than to be the best prepared you can to take care of your family. Our lives are not under our control as we like to understand it. Knowing you cannot control tomorrow's outcome, some see that as a comfort. For if you could control the chaos, who would you choose to live or die?

Simply being aware of the potential future problems means you are more prepared than those ignorant of the fact. Worrying is okay but allowing it to control your emotions to the extent of disallowing you to fully function to protect your family is not. Mind this and you will do great.

There's always something that can end life as we know it. Before all this stuff now we had swine flu, bird flu, El Nino, Cold War, WWII, etc. Just lumping all the bad stuff happening now and trying to make a pattern out of it is a waste of time.

Fukushima is a lot worse than people realize and has been since the day of the meltdown. A lot has been done to keep our collective attention off of it and our worry low.

I've been paying attention to the doom level of the world for the past 15 years and I am 100% certain it has never been this bad. In the early 2000s, we would have doomish events happening maybe once every 4-5 months. After 2008 it started accelerating until these huge events started happening about every 1-2 months.

Now we see collapse type events happening about every 1-2 weeks. We are getting close. I think we have 5 years maximum before the majority of the people in the western world are struggling to survive on a day-to-day basis. Personally, I think the dollar will be abandoned by most of the world before BO leaves office. I also think we are already in the early stages of ww3, which involves economic and cyber warfare.
