Does this sub need a sticky about this sub being overrun and infected with Ebola fearmongering propaganda? Is /r/conspiracy just another extension of the MSM now?

I think we need to sticky something along this line because there have been a few highly active and upvoted posts about this sub being just another infected Ebola fear outlet, but they eventually work their way down and off the front pages. I am not saying people should not make posts related to Ebola, but come on. this is getting out of hand now.

Are we not a little better and more thoughtful than this?

If the MSM says don't worry it's not that contagious some people here freak out and say they are downplaying it. If they say it's a big issue and that we need to take precaution some people say it's fearmongering.

I think we just have to expect posts from every point of view in a sub this large.

It's mostly just /u/MozillaFirefaux who's spamming his fear all over our faces. Report him when you see him breaking sub rules and he'll get taken care of.

Will do.

The person you're responding to is incorrect. /u/mozillafirefaux is one of the only people here who is questioning the official MSM doom porn narrative being spun.

You realize he's just spinning lies, right? He's mongering fear at an unparalleled rate and never responds to comments that question his narrative.

Sounds like someone with an agenda to me (on in the pocket of a fear-blog like InfoWars).

How is he "mongering fear"? He's literally doing the exact opposite by questioning the fear mongering MSM narrative. Do you really not understand that?

Ah yes, the old deflecting because you can't answer my question without invalidating your original point.

Here's a simple one for you: how is it fear mongering to question the MSM's fear mongering? Do you really not see how little sense that makes?

That guy is doing nothing but spamming crossposts to his personal ebola sub, with one of his many accts.

Okay? What does any of that have to do with this guy claiming that he's "fear mongering"? The answer is nothing, because he isn't - he's questioning the fear mongering. /u/ModsRCorrupt is wrong, that is and has been my only point here.

Nice 12 day old account by the way.

Well, fair play, I agree fear mongering is NOT what he's doing. However he is doing his best to run this sub into the shitter.

brand new account is concerned about /r/conspiracy

Wow I am honored to have you chime on good sir.

I didn't say it was fear mongering to question the MSM. I don't know where you think I connected the two.

It's mostly just /u/MozillaFirefaux[1] [+9] who's spamming his fear all over our faces.

Cool random quote. Now where'd he connect it to the MSM?

Who else is spreading fear about ebola?

I think AI is just being defensive and hurling any attempt at discrediting me out there to see what sticks.

On the contrary he's one of the few users here who's actually questioning all of the MSM ebola fear mongering and doom porn being posted by other users. If you're going to call someone out, at least know what you're talking about.

To someone who wasn't you? Yeah. What is your point? I'm not allowed to express an opinion to more than one person?

Isn't that what you just said?

I was responding to two different users.

You just said that to someone else.

I'm aware. I made the same point to two different users. What point are you making?

That I found your interaction with those other users amusing and I thought I would respond in the same manner as them in an attempt to get a rise out of you and maybe highlight the absurdity of the situation.

Ah, as I suspected. Troll on my friend - you're in good company in this thread.

It's hard to resist sometimes.

What is it, exactly, that you view as ebola fearmongering? (Im asking for specific posts and stuff...).

I don't want to name names and call people out like that. I guess I just think a sticky would make people think before flamming out another Ebola post. I don't think it does much good for this sub to just throw up a post that you can read anywhere and everywhere else on the internet.

Well, i might agree with you. I do appreciate the posts that link up to news articles concerning new infections in america, for example. But its the ten reposts of the same article that i dont like.

Maybe itbwas too much for me to ask for specific posts, but what if you gave a general example of a post you find is fearmongering, so as not to call anyone out?

I don't want to name names and call people out like that.

It's okay, I can handle it.

:-)

Yeah I have been hiding all the ebola stuff now. way to many posts about it, probable from propaganda sources.

Not to mention the obvious click bait posts. Example see Ebola is airborne literally nothing new that it can spread from sneezing which it has had a "splash zone" warning since past outbreaks. Some people just look into anything the news talks about to work it into their own mental conspiracy narrative.

Is /r/conspiracy just another extension of the MSM now?

I think it is great you bring this question up. I noticed this awhile ago, concerning this sub, and it is interesting to note that this sub generally as a whole directly mimics the pop news cycle we get every week from mainstream misinformation. What we aren't talking about is what is really going on and what we are talking about probably has no relevance to what the fuck is actually taking place.

For those who want coverage of Ebola, there are additional outlets for you now: /r/ebola and for those that want less vetted information, /r/ebolahoax

This sub has lost all credibility. I can guess what you guys are mainly on about without being here for months. Almost 9/11? Truthers come out full force. Big disease scare? I think we all know what's going on in /r/conspiracy now! (And I was right, I came here just to see if this place was filled with Ebola stories like I guessed.)

How do you guys on one hand claim that everything you say is true, but on the other hand your focus is as easily swayed by the MSM as any other person on earth?
