The way this works for money is that a series of transactions that are all related, as part of a single large (fraudulent) transaction, look just like a single transaction that is rotated in a higher dimension. The algorithm can recognize this connection efficiently. This is used to detect so-called "structuring".

Interest rate fixing works almost the same way. There is a correlation between transactions at multiple institutions that should be independent, but aren't. Each transaction represents an independent dimension. They are connected in a hidden dimension. By recognizing the entire, rotated object, the algorithm sees the connection.

The same type of algorithm is used by the "domain awareness system" (built by Microsoft) to track citizens by video surveillance, in New York and other cities, announced by Commissioner Gordon Kelly at the Aspen Security Forum just one week after the Aurora shooting.

you would think with any case of mass murder in a private or public place and live or dead suspects/perps, there would be a need for closure, but no, long drawn out affairs seem to be the thing.

James Holmes was sitting outside, in a car, all drugged out. There were at least two shooters, one at each front corner of the theater, but they always scrub eyewitness accounts to make it appear as a lone shooter.
