US Mint under the Fed Reserve (which is private, not federal) creates money from thin air. Then lends it to primary dealer banks who lend back to the government at interest (your taxes).
While you are right about Fed Reserve being private, that's really just in name only. If you look at the regulations on the Reserve, it's very apparent that it is run by the federal government.
The cyber economy is hilarious to conceptualize. It's just an on screen visual representation of "credits in an account". 0's and 1's people...0's and 1's.
The physical economy is hilarious to conceptualize. It's just a tactile representation of "things owned". Protons, neutrons, and electrons people... protons, neutrons and electrons.
It's plausible. However, Kaspersky researched this bank hack as well as the "EQUATION Group" (cough NSA cough) malware. If the bank heisters used the same tools, I'm sure Kaspersky would have made note of that. Otherwise, they would need to have an entirely separate family of malware tools that they only use for these types of jobs -- plausible, but I think a bit unlikely.
Maybe a different agency? Or maybe organized crime. Who knows...
That's a good point. They may well know far more than they are letting on -- just like they called it the "EQUATION Group" even though their analysis document lists a lot of evidence that it was indeed the NSA -- in terms of the level of sophistication and the terminology found in the malware code ("implant", "*ACID", etc.). Yet they avoided calling them out directly, and let the reader make that connection. So perhaps the same thing is happening here.

Is it really? Nobody can enter. Not the IRS, not the FBI, not even the president.

I think you're fingering the wrong agency, but yeah, haha, first thing I thought.

They are already taking our tax dollars anyway.

I'm pretty sure they don't want to be murdered. There's a reason both articles came out at the same time.

I just wish we had something more tangible.

So "hackers" steal $1B from breaching banks. Ever thought that our friends at the NSA or CIA are at work here funding their black budgets? there's this post as well. and others include their posts from elsewhere on reddit calling attention to the same thing.
