As I'm sure plenty of you know Congress is set to have a vote on June 1st on letting The Patriot Act expire, be amended, or reauthorized.

I have just emailed my congressmen and senators letting them know I would like for this bill to expire. You Should too.

Something catastrophic will occur between now and then resulting in a unanimous decision reinstating the Patriot Act.

Hopefully not

I agree but it is April aka National False Flag Month.

What has occurred in April?

Lots heres a link

Interesting. Thanks

Np It's pretty crazy how many events occurred during the last two weeks of April.

yeah, looks like April is the "Friday the 13th" month of the year.

It's also the month of April Fools-very fitting!

Or nothing catastrophic will occur and they reinstate it anyway. I see absolutely no reason for them not to.

Ya, cuz if we tell them what we want, they will listen.

Yes plenty of times this does occur

You kid yourself.

Which is no big deal, but spreading this kind of misinformation is evil.

the misinformation that if you reach out to your representative to give your voice will do nothing for such cause? welp no point in doing it anyway then...

There isn't. Most major changes come after large scale protests; the anti-war movement for Vietnam and civil rights marches. Think about just how many civil rights marches there were...

The 2003 Iraq war protests were pretty big, but covered less and were no where near as continual as the protests in the 1960s. That generation is demonized as being ineffective, ungrateful hippies, but they caused an amazing amount of unrest.

All the media control and domestic spying that has grown since then has all been attempts by the US government to prevent the 1960s again; to prevent realization.

Think you have a free media? Think NPR or the BBC are great? Tell me then why none of them tell the truth about 9/11. The US is exactly in the same state as North Korea as far as propaganda goes; but the illusion is more complete so it's much harder to tell.

Not really; rarely on major issues. They could give two shits about their constituency. Elections are a game of advertising signs and mice. Two people play a game, but the same people back their funding.

Even in Australia where they have mandatory voting, order of preference and instance run-off (you literally cannot throw your vote away), the government has gotten more and more stuff moved to the bottom half (the non-required section) of the ballot. They've effectively turned on the most fair voting systems in the world into being useless.

NZ's MMP is no better really (and just much more confusing). All over the world, elections are to vote on your kings and queens. There might be minor differences between candidates on trivial social issues, but it's symbolic to appease people.

Voting is purely symbolic.

Does your congressman have any requirement to vote in any way that represents you?

If they don't I don't vote for them

LOL

oh that's so cute.

I already did this awhile ago and received a mass e-mail from my representative explaining that he thanked me for my concerns, but that he believes that the Patriot Act and similar legislation were a necessary part of the arsenal of defense. The loss of rights outweighs the benefits.

Writing actual letters and phoning has a far better chance.

yeah like they will actually give a fuck

Or write a letter, something physical often looks like there is more effort put in

I would if I were american.

email newer works, only real mail or fax, remeber they are old farts
