Vote inside on public access to /r/conspiracy moderation logs.
89 2015-05-27 by Flytape
There are three distinguished comments down below. You must comment to vote. Regular karma votes will not be considered.
One for the mods to vote yes or no in.
One for the community to comment in IF they vote YES for public mod logs (comment should read in the affirmative "YES I want public mod logs!")
And lastly one for the community to comment in IF they vote NO for public mod logs (comment should read in the negative "No I don't want public mod logs!")
SPECIAL NOTE TO ADMINS: I'm not asking for reddit votes as in karma, I'm asking for democratic process from the community here. Do not ban me for asking for votes. As clearly stated above I'm defining a vote as a comment in favor of or against making a this change to our community. Thus I'm not asking for karma-votes and I am not in violation of the rules. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Why wouldn't we want public mod logs o.o
13 Flytape 2015-05-27
They could be used to manufacture drama. I'm confident we can overcome that.
7 Ziroshi 2015-05-27
Ah, I can see that happening
Although i do agree that we can overcome it.

Good news then, because there is the ability to view the rss/json data filtered by anything you can normally filter by in the moderation log page. It isn't yet baked into the github site, but its open source so if anyone who knows javascript wants to, they could probably slap together a fix, make a pull request and I'd merge it, or fork it and run their own frontend.
For example, this is /r/morrowind's plain-jane moderation log RSS feed: http://www.reddit.com/r/morrowind/about/log/.rss?feed=c7b83b457469643f1912d5fee30e18dba808f351&user=publicmodlogs
and this is only the removed posts: http://www.reddit.com/r/morrowind/about/log/.rss?type=removelink&feed=c7b83b457469643f1912d5fee30e18dba808f351&user=publicmodlogs

5 KafkaesqueNightmare 2015-05-27
Good stuff there, Flytape! I really do appreciate it and I know that other members of the community feel the same! Make sure to send my best regards to the mods! I just hope we can maintain this trend; who knows, it might have site-wide ramifications if we can keep this up!
Edit: ALSO: I just realized that by stepping into the light, opening up to transparency, the mods of this community are directly standing against Chairman Pao's idea of Reddit not being a platform of free speech! That is phenomenal and deserves some praise in and of itself. Good luck on your future endeavors towards transparency, free speech, and freedom of information!

but the SRD snoonet brigade is coming after you and AATA, and they know this sub would go down the shitter without you guys, so tread lightly.

YES
Moderation should be as transparent and involve the community as much as possible, WHILE GUARDING AGAINST brigading and shills hijacking.
This could also be accomplished in a sister sub like /r/anarchy does it.
1 Flytape 2015-05-27
Hmm is this a new sub or did something change drastically? I seemed to recall that anarchy was taken over by "safe space" zealots... but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Am I thinking of a different sub?
1 Potss 2015-05-27
I was just referring to the fact that like some other subs they have a separate sub that is used as a mod log and for votes on bans and rule changes etc.

Yes, it would be nice to know why /r/conspiracy is now deciding to capriciously censor comments. Without letting the poster know that it happened or why, I might add.
Makes the whole Reddit thing kind of worthless and pointless really. Especially with the shadow banning that happens for no reason and no explanation.
-4 HaltNWO 2015-05-27

3 oldguynewname 2015-05-27
I don't see how anyone can find anything within the mod logs important enough that they need to see them. Is the reddit mod logs important enough for your daily life you would give up that time to read them?
Reddit is becoming far to goddamn important to you if so. Go ahead and down vote me because you don't agree because you can't say this comment isn't important to the discussion.
Get outside people become active within your community and make a change for the better. Start a movement with others. See someone's face and speak with them about your views or concerns.
Don't think that just cause you get to see the mod logs you will have a realization. Or something else that isn't really important enough to influence anything.
I vote no keep that shit for you as mods to read and deal with all this site is for would be entertainment less I have to sift thru the better.
Keep up the good work in giving the others a voice thou /u/flytape
1 5arge 2015-05-27
Well said.
0 5arge 2015-05-27
No, I don't want them. Let the mods do their jobs without the added scrutiny. Transparency will not benefit anyone but the folks who troll this sub.
1 mr_dong 2015-05-27
I'm honestly on the fence with this one. The last thing we should be creating is more distraction from the nature of the sub, moderator transparency is a nice idea but the reality is that other ways of communicating are available to reddit users anyway.
I would suggest that if the crowd and other moderators want access to the logs then we should link to them in the sidebar. Personally i don't see it being helpful to the page to make a song and dance about moderator discussions week in week out. Besides, i don't want people stealing my pie recipes.
1 thefuckingtoe 2015-05-27
You did notice who posted this right?
1 mr_dong 2015-05-27
Crowd decides, i don't think it's a particularly useful idea but if readers want it we will link to the mod talks in the sidebar.
-1 Mumberthrax 2015-05-27
If you'd like, you can also make modmail available publicly through /u/publicmodlogs, but I am not sure if I would recommend it.
edit: maybe i misunderstood what we were talking about. o_o
-2 thefuckingtoe 2015-05-27
You did notice who posted this right?
3 mr_dong 2015-05-27
The main idea it just to show that the mods here have nothing to hide. As long as the idea remains background i really don't have a problem with it.
2 thefuckingtoe 2015-05-27
When axolotl answers who the fake David Chandler was he touted on the fake Richard Gage AMA, then I'll know they have nothing to hide.
When you or another mod shares the voting on reinstatement of flytape, the I'll know they have nothing to hide.
Below is a list of nefarious mod actions. Clear that mess up and we can have a conversation about mods not having anything to hide.

How many times do I need to answer your questions?
I don't believe the "official" version of 9/11. I don't know how the towers came down, I have no training/expertise in that field.
However, I'm inclined to believe that we've been lied to extensively regarding the events of that day.
The Richard Gage/David Chandler fake AMA was an unfortunate mistake, and one that certainly will never be made again.
Do I need to link that gif again?
3 thefuckingtoe 2015-05-27
You haven't answered my question yet. Who was the fake david chandler you tried to roll out in conjunction with the fake richard gage ama?
The best defenders of the OCT (official conspiracy theory) seem to be the mods of this sub.
I'm bringing others' dirty laundry out. Please help me wash it.
Do I need to link you defending a 911 debunker again?
Mods who don't know anything about 9.11 truth should not defend incorrect statements made by 911 debunkers.
You were involved in defending a 911 debunker that you rolled out as a real person, without verifying the person.
What actions did you take to verify the fake david chandler? Why didn't the fake david chandler show up?
Why haven't you answered a single question about who the fake david chandler was you were going to introduce?
Your silence says more than my repeatedly ignored questions.
Why is a mod of /r/911truth and /r/conspiracy so aggressive to those who seek answers?
You weren't qualified to host a richard gage ama. You've done more to hurt the 911 truth movement than to help it. You've chased away qualified professionals. You've made one post (numerology) about 911, and it's not flattering.
This isn't meant as an attack on mods. This is meant to clear the stagnant air.
0 axolotl_peyotl 2015-05-27
I've answered this. A lot.
The person(s) who faked the Gage AMA said that David Chandler, if he wasn't otherwise occupied, might be available to answer some questions as well.
The whole thing was staged, obviously, so it wasn't true. Obviously.
I'm baffled as to why you're belaboring the point.
I've submitted hundreds of things about 911.
The numerology post isn't even my own research, I just summarized a book I read that I thought was pretty neat.
Air sufficiently cleared?
-3 mr_dong 2015-05-27
He made a mistake, his posting history is second to non regardless.
Flytape is on a final warning and he understands it. The moderators wanted him back in and that was dealt with in house.
http://www.np.reddit.com/r/snew/comments/36wdrv/hi_snew_i_am_flytape_ask_me_anything/crht
This is exactly what we want to move away from. The page should be about conspiracy, not the moderators.
8 thefuckingtoe 2015-05-27
He won't address who the fake David Chandler was. I personally questioned him as to the merits of the fake Richard Gage and axolotl made one of the worst rebuts I've ever seen on this sub, as it concerns the truth movement.
Mods who don't know anything about 9.11 truth should not defend incorrect statements made by 911 debunkers.
Cats don't have as many lives as 'the saudis did 911' flytape.
http://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/36vs66/why_mod_transparency_is_necessary_how_not_to/crhipo4
I want to move away from people harming the 911 truth movement on reddit.com. I can't get one mod of /r/conspiracy to say that 3 towers were brought down by controlled demolition on 9.11.01. That's beyond strange.
Another mod in /r/conspiracy has little to no knowledge of 91101 but put on a fake AMA and tried to bring down 2 of the biggest advocates for 911 truth in one fake AMA.
http://www.np.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/36x2fx/alleged_op_of_the_qatarcoke_post_speaks_up_in/criejpi
Again, let's clean house and open up an honest dialogue. Not meant as attack on mods of /r/conspiracy
