Remember when the U.S. dropped 2 nuclear bombs on Japan, and put Japanese in a concentration camp. That was an 800,000 person murder spree. They should ban sales of the U.S. flag.
Really interesting. Thought you might like to know I tried the same experiment as you and a woman said that it was "Currently, since there were many customers who reported the confederate flag, we immediately pulled out the item."
You posted this same argument in seven different places because you thought it was total zinger, huh? Nope: we're talking about a government body participating in offending a group of people, and you're talking about the free speech of private citizens. See the difference? I'm going to paste this in the other six places you made your dumb comment.
Law? I don't think it's law! Maybe corporate mandate but certainly not by law! But what do you expect from a some minimum wage employee manning the chat lines at Amazon.
Islam is a religion, not a race. You cannot be racist towards it any more than you can be racist towards Christianity. The flag is a symbol of racism by whites against blacks, regardless of their religion.
It's not even a symbol of racism. It's a symbol of southern heritage. It was originally called the battle flag of northern virginia and was regularly use to show defiance of government by southerners. Just because some assholes took it and used it when they fought integration of the races and still use it today as their symbol does NOT make it a symbol of white supremacy. And I for one would at least like the chance to bring beak the original meaning of the flag.
Ted Nugent got it right earlier. I never thought I'd say that, but there you go. Best of luck reclaiming your flag (both of you). I'm in England and it was always just the pretty flag on the side of the orange car in Dukes of Hazzard.
Hear hear! As a Southerner and member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, nothing disgusts me more than seeing the flags my ancestors died fighting under get misused and misrepresented by a minority of wretched bigots! How dare they attempt rebrand a symbol of Southern heritage into a symbol of hate?
All I want is for folks to give the Southern Cross the same benefit of the doubt they give Old Glory. The Stars and Stripes has arguably flown over much worse than 4 years of slavery; Indian genocide and relocation, internment of German, Italian, and Japanese citizens in camps, an ever-growing tyrannical government, not to mention 90 years of slave ships flying Old Glory atop their masts! Also, the KKK, the National Socialists of America, and other evil groups use it (and have used it for decades) to promote their messages of prejudice and hatred of their fellow man.
But we look past all of this. Why? Because the U.S. flag stands for so much more. It goes beyond the mistakes of the past and speaks louder than those who would misuse it. It stands for liberty, justice, and inalienable rights. I just wish folks would view the Confederate flags (Stars and Bars, 3rd National, etc.) with the same eyes, and not with a double standard.
Anyways, that's just my 2 cents. It's just a shame. I don't want to insult or offend anyone, but I also don't want to hide my Southern pride. :(
I think we should ban images and speech about the founding fathers since they owned slaves. Let's just whitewash history, at this rate that'll be the case in 5 years.
By looking at your comment history, I know how much of a stupid shill you really are, so, I'm not even going to try to explain it to you. If you don't get it, then you don't fucking get it.
I haven't really. I'm taking a shit as I'm talking to you... No really I'm not going to spend too much time on my phone articulating why you're an idiot when I know you're not going to accept or comprehend it. I might when I get home.
It's okay, looking at your history, it's better for your side of you just stfu. Really. You're just not smart enough for this kind of thing and there are plenty of guys who can articulate your side's arguments without making your side look foolish. So, just go away.
This was the golden nugget of argument that you were withholding from me for so long? Listen, despite what you think, this line of argument isn't hard to understand; it's more or less sixth grade level.
So, for starters, I'm not black, so fix your pronouns. You remember what those are, right?
Second, your equivalency is false - I support the free speech of any private citizen in both cases to offend black people or Muslims. But not the government's. Your argument is not clear in indicating that you understand this crucial difference between the two cases. If you believe the differences not to exist, please explain more. I'm willing to have a civil conversation with you about this going forward; I'll drop my snark if you drop yours.
Yeah, that's all I ever said. See? We can be civil.
Except, I'd personally shun someone displaying that flag, also within my rights. I'm just not buying the argument that it represents anything other than pride in a part of their history they should not have pride in.
I know this argument well. It is inescapable, though, that there was no other issue other than slavery (and the threat to its future posed by projected addition of Western non-slave states and the exploding population of the Northeast) that the South contended for against the Federal government. Without slavery, the Secession doesn't happen.
What makes a better argument for Southerners, to me, are that the South was goaded into attacking Fort Sumter by Lincoln, who seems to have used it as a way to backtrack on his promise not to initiate war on the South.
It is unfortunate that Southerners today can't accept that their ancestors fought for an unworthy cause. Baffling to me, because look at the Germans - a fight for pure evil, but they've accepted that it was wrong.
Oh. You're one of those suckers. You think everyone else is a sucker, because you're never had any personal experience with something called "peer review". Have a nice life.
The confederates lost, period. The US Flag should fly over US land. I don't really think a 150 year dead country really needs to have it's flag flown. Besides, they were traitors to the union. Do you really blame them for not liking traitors? They solely existed to propagate slavery (Or protecting their rights). I don't care how much of a screwed up country this is, do you really think they should allow that flag to be flown?
Besides, Islam is not a race. It is a religion. A poisonous one at that, but a religion, not a race.
You must think this is my first day on reddit no one ever changes thier perspective because of internet comments. Just examine what you think you know and see if it stands the scrutiny particularly that which is parallel with compulsory government schooling.
Well, you were calling it racist. It isn't a race. Classifying muslism as a race prevents them from being critisized. Absolutely no-one should be profiled for their defining features, but classing islam under race shields it from criticisms. Any time you critisize the religion, you get called a bigot. This isn't like critisizing christianity. Every religion should get some shit!

The Confederate flag is not banned just because several privately owned businesses no longer sell it.

That's not what Amazon customer service said: http://i.imgur.com/qkvsvOJ.jpg

Amazon is a privately owned business that has the right to decide which products are sold on their proprietary site.
Regardless of their decision, it is still a fact that no law has been passed that censors or bans the Confederate flag.

That was basically all she had to say.

Amazon is selling swastika ps4 console and controller skins and cell phone cases, but not the confederate flag.

Let that sink in for a minute.

That's pretty incredible. What group or individuals have the sway to remove a single product like the confederate flag?
I feel fairly disturbed by this.

You really think Amazon, EBay, Walmart, and Target all individually decided to stop selling flags? Dumbass.
3 crowlibrarian 2015-06-24
My ass may be dumb, but I have a working brain on the other end, unlike those who would give this credence.
2 Gung_Honess 2015-06-24
No no no! They may have been told/asked by the regime to stop selling them. I'm just saying its not illegal or against the law to sell them.
Edit: although I highly doubt the government asked them to. It was just a move by corporate to look more PC

There is nothing to articulate bud! you're an ethnocentric, hypocritical piece of shit with glaring double-standards.
"Confederate flag is disrespectful to me and my fellow citizens, so it should be shunned and marginalize by all upstanding citizens"
and then, using the same chuck of fat you call a brain;
"We should be able to draw Muhammad! who cares if it's insulting millions of people! It's freedumb of speech!"
This is a classic example of Orwell's double-think, but unfortunately, you're too stupid to figure it out.
Now piss off.
