By ISIS? We're already in the midst of a "war on terror" ISIS killing any US citizen and then taking credit for it would create a heightened national security, loss of a few more freedoms and a manhunt for whoever executed the plan, I don't see why it needs to be the Pope.

It wouldn't just be America going to war though. Whether you are a Catholic or not, you can't deny the fact that the Pope is a world leader and Catholics across the globe would be demanding action from their respective countries.

Religious extremists wanting the Pope dead is not a new trend, it's just been given much more attention because a certain extremest group (ISIS) has been getting a lot of attention recently.

Yes they are using closed walmarts that Walmart officially stated as "plumbing issues". Meanwhile videos showing these walmarts having windows blacked out, sign taken off, barbed coil fence surrounding the building, military occupation, federal occupation.

Well, let's look at the history of martial law in America.

Looks like we either need a decently powerful natural disaster (extra likely if it's in a city run by a corrupt mayor), an actual invasion either of an army or outsiders bent on destruction, or something akin to a massive, long-lasting riot (obviously bigger & longer lasting than the recent ones in Ferguson and Baltimore).

And even in all those times, the duration of the imposition of martial law was pretty short. Certainly not even weeks (excepting Hawaii during WWII).

So it seems pretty unlikely to a student of US history that martial law is on the horizon.

Also, please don't rattle the "Obammer will do it to keep power blah blah blah..." That has said of EVERY 2-term US President since I've been alive, and none of them has done it. Martial law puts the highest-ranking military officer in control of the country. TPTB don't want that. Through the emergency powers of COG and many many executive orders, they have become above the law.
