How come a Beavis and Butthead cartoon got thousands of upvotes, while legitimate, well thought out conspiracies get buried in the new que?

Because the masses are more familiar w/Beavis and Butthead than they are with real issues.

Originally published in '85. Beavis and Butt-head started in '93.

This two dates and things aren't really relevant but for some reason I felt compelled to link that book.

Because people do not check the comments, they just see the catchy title and upvote.

That's why that flair had to be added, though it was already a bit too late...

People are easily fooled and want to believe. I got a kick out of it when I saw it, but I knew if it was real I would've heard of it before this. Funny, but also subversive to the truth movement.

Because Reddit is easy as hell to bot attack, and they hide their numbers so its way harder to find them than it is on Disqus.

Understand this. Reddit as a whole has absolutely no attention span.

Read a long thought out theory? Hell no! Quick meme/cartoon? Upvote, what's next.

Maybe this is a good avenue to reach the masses?

Link to the well thought out, possibly legitimate conspiracy?

Because it makes us look like a bunch of juvenile chauvenistic idiots by association with Beavis and Butthead, as well as having an emotional tie in to the so called "cultural Marxist" agenda (which I believe is also being played up subconsciously to have Hillary have a more emotional following) It makes us look foolish for believing something like that. It's easily digestible and would naturally gain up votes by casual browsers of this sub, after the initial ones provided by bots.

Because... It's perfect.

Because most of red it instantly upvotes the quickly digested posts because its like they can't fucking be bothered to invest five minutes into reading an article. And reddit loves anything resembling a DANK MAYMAY.

That has always been the Million dollar question around here.

I stopped sorting this sub by "Hot" years ago.

The beavis and butthead story was news created by Vice and promoted by Vice on social media just so they could do the follow up story.

Because the average user just isn't that bright. Easier to upvote than think.

It tricked people here into think an MTV cartoon predicted 9/11. People love to think that 9/11 was planned and its planners love to show it off, so why wouldn't they allude to it in a cartoon about farts, dicks, and toilet paper? Unfortunately it was fake.

9/11 or the cartoon?

Black magic.

Must be a conspiracy
