The Eternity Club is just an attempt to get prominent Redditors to dox themselves.
37 2015-09-07 by Mr_Zero
So there is a fairly new sub called the Eternity Club /r/EternityClub. It is invite only and open to those who have had posts hit the front page.
I received an invite and accepted, well why not?
The sub really has no point. It claims to be a place for the Reddit elite to hangout, but after joining it seems more like a place where a vast majority of people are like myself who just got lucky with a front page post. However, all of the power Redditors that create lots of front page posts have certainly been invited also.
I submit that this sub was created for the sole purpose of getting users to dox themselves. Here is why. After a few weeks of members just kind of stumbling around and asking what is the point of this sub, the mods came up with a series of daily theme posts, which almost all of ask for information that could be used to identify the members IRL.
Here is a list of the daily themes.
Made It Monday - What did you make?
Transformation Tuesday - Anything that has been transformed, including you. Post before and after pictures of yourself.
Tool Tuesday - Pictures of your tools
No Love Tuesday - Posts that got no love
Window Wednesday - What's outside your window? So we can see the view from your workplace.
Workplace Wednesday - Pictures of your workplace so we can see where you work.
Throwback Thursday - Old photos of you.
Fridge Friday - What's on your fridge? So we can see phone numbers, shopping lists, calendars and stuff your kids created.
Foot Friday - What's on your feet? Are you a man or a woman? If they are open toe we can make a stab at your race.
Food Friday - What are you eating?
Shirt Saturday - What shirt are you wearing? Easiest way to do this is take a selfie.
Selfie Sunday - Selfies
[EDIT 1] I woke up this morning and found this in my inbox
you have been banned from posting to /r/EternityClub.

Suggest they make dox days. You may only be doxxed on days that end in y

No can do. I have been banned from the sub for making this post.

You're too smart for them anyway

Sounds like the Vortex Club from Life is Strange. Hopefully they don't have some End of the World Party, as well. You should ask one of the mods if they received their inspiration for creating this sub from that game. Sounds ridiculously similar.

I had not heard of that before.

Holy shit. This is interesting.
Lets say this is used by people who don't have access to what the admins see - the IP addresses. By scouring through a persons comments they can get a feel for where the person lives. Country/city.
Picture outside house, can find where they live depending on what's in the picture.
Workplace...where they work, income level, job type, maybe even position in company.
Throwback + Foot + Transformation + Shirt = Age/Gender/marital status if ring on finger, clothing or shoes worn = persons financial situation. Old pictures can tell whether person is an immigrant or not, what type of family they grew up in.
Fridge = Single or not, has kids or not, maybe even sexual orientation, also financial situation.
This is a goldmine for data mining and recruiting people who have already landed on the front page to use these same people for corporate/government activities and product promotion or opinion molding.

Fridge. Don't forget invoices, that have your name, address and account information on them.

Or it's just people having fun.
Do people understand "fun" on this sub?

Very interesting.

Interesting enough that they banned me this morning.

lots of people get doxed through century club too. god damn people are dumb. "Give us all your information" "OK! :)"

I don't participate in selfie threads for this exact reason. I've already fucked myself in the self-doxxing front by using my real name, so I'm hosed either way.

The Reddit Secret Santa gets your name and mailing address.

It is also the only sub-reddit I've ever been a member of that threatens to remove you from the sub if you don't post and/or reply.
Like there is some kind of limit of people who can join, or something.
Seems to support your theory.
2 Mr_Zero 2015-09-07
I forgot to mention that. Thanks for bringing up.
2 Trajan_ 2015-09-07
There is a 20k subscriber limit on private subreddits.
3 abertsa 2015-09-07
interesting that you mention it. I was also invited on another account.

Very interesting. I may get banned for commenting here but now that I'm paranoid about getting doxxed I'll unsub anyway.
So I just got here from a google search, I was just invited a few minutes ago, but haven't reached the front page in literally years. I was a pretty avid poster when I was younger, reached /r/all a small handfull of times, but they were all in 2012-2014.. so the invite already seemed suspicious to me, this post satisfies my suspicion enough to get the hell out of there, thanks

Just fake the photos with stock images
1 mysoulishome 2015-09-07
Totally just doxxed my neighbor. Saw his face, address, vehicle he drove...everything. Sucker. M
1 Ravkav 2015-09-07
I dont believe it.
1 Mr_Zero 2015-09-07
Don't believe what? That I was banned for making this post?
0 Ravkav 2015-09-07
I don't believe the sub exists. I heard it was a myth.

Isn't this how most people use Reddit though?
7 KnightBeforeTomorrow 2015-09-07
No, that's FaceBook
-1 TheExtroll 2015-09-07
I disagree. Reddit was made to be a quasi-social network.
5 KnightBeforeTomorrow 2015-09-07
On reddit personally identifying users is strictly forbidden, apparently that rule is just a ruse for the rubes and doesn't apply to reddit staff.

Doxing people is against global rules, but there are no rules against sharing pictures of yourself on Reddit. I feel as if Reddit encourages this.
