There are only nine numbers

There are only nine numbers. 123456789 There's no such thing as zero. That's only a placeholder for convenience in keeping track of larger quantities. There are no fractions or decimal numbers. These are simply creative abstractions. Imaginary things. You can say that fractions exists because we imagine them to. But they do not have any place in our universe. They are like rules you make up to play a game. Outside the game they have no meaning.
You simply can't subject something to fractionation and call it the same thing. You can't cut an apple in half and say "half an apple". It's not the same thing anymore.
Numbers are qualitative not quantitative. That's the biggest mistake in understanding numbers. Thinking numbers are used for tracking quantity. When in fact numbers each have their own qualities. All 9 of them are unique in quality. Why wouldn't someone not want us to understand numbers? Maybe because there is power to be found in numbers. Certain combinations perhaps? Hmm.....

I would suggest you learn the difference between a number, a numeral, a value, and a digit.

Wait, there is a Zero right up there in the right corner... it does exist!

Aren't all numbers essentially imaginary? The amazing thing is we can use them to describe and discover new things about reality.

Numbers, in the "regular" sense of the word, aren't so much imaginary as abstract. If I have five apples, I'm not imagining "five", I mean there they are!
The question of whether numbers are imaginary or not comes down to the question of whether numbers actually exist or not. That's a whole philosophical debate in and of itself.

There are an infinite amount of numbers. Do you think 10 is the only base?

What the fuck is wrong with you
3 raianrage 2015-09-17
Sure. In base ten.

What is 2-2?
-2 Putin_loves_cats 2015-09-17
Technically it's a cancellation (ie. nothing, you are left with nothing, but nothing does not exist). What is 10, according to your comment, in context?
3 Rockran 2015-09-17
Counting is just a repetition of the numbers 0-9
0123456789 10 11 12 13 14 etc

But if 0 is nothing, than how is 10 > than 9 in context to your comment. I know how to count Rocky. I'm asking you to explain your logic of 2-2=0 (nothing) yet 1 with a 0 next to it equals 9+1 (10). Also, 0 is not a number. Maybe you need some more schooling, lol.

You're basically asking me to describe the history of numbers...
-_-
If you're so wise and knowledgeable, why are you asking me for answers?
How does a 2 followed by a 1 = 3x7 and not 3?

Run, Rocky, run! You're original comment is shit and you know it. You need a coffee break, again!
4 Rockran 2015-09-17
I've told you, I don't drink coffee.
I would like a cup of tea.

Numbers are just as imaginary as fractions....its all imaginary.

The history of Leibniz, binary counting and the I Ching has always been a source of curiosity for me.
Op, if you're not familiar, then you might consider looking into it for kicks.
