It's another dimension, it's not physically in the Earth

Wouldnt it be fair to say that cave systems added to this myth? Especially if they encountered a cave filled with bones and other hazards?

Especially the Amazon.... Those fuckers have cave that look like the mouth to hell that go on for miles and miles.

Well that's assuming these cultures didn't all original from a single source, which the myths themselves suggest wasn't the case.

Could be that they're high on something very potent..

Yeah, pretty much. A common destination during Shamanic journeying is "the Lower World". To them this is a place that contains various earth / plant / animal related entities. The visualizations / projections they use to "get there" are all subterranean related.

Sadly seismology has given us a good understanding of the interior of the earth...no such "other world exists". Just a legend.

Scientists scanning the deep interior of Earth have found evidence of a vast water reservoir beneath eastern Asia that is at least the volume of the Arctic Ocean. http://www.livescience.com/1312-huge-ocean-discovered-earth.html

The water then rises up into the overlying region, which becomes saturated with water [image]. "It would still look like solid rock to you,” Wysession told LiveScience. "You would have to put it in the lab to find the water in it."

I have dealt with this topic a lot when talking to creationists. It is molecular water...

The same seismology that found this water tells us the earth is not hollow.

As I understand it, this water is embedded in rock. Someone please correct me if I am wrong?

The water is at a molecular level in the rock. This is due to the immense heat and pressure put on the water at that depth. As the quote I put in said...you would not see any water if you dug up one of these rocks. Calling it an ocean is a misnomer.

Yeah maaan i got 100% faith in $cientists and academia too bro!

Science. It's the new religion.

except science has been around longer than religion.

the ole chicken or the egg routine.

Science nowadays isn't the scientific method, it's the ideas attached to the concept of the scientific method, taken on faith by the population, justified by the scientific method. In that sense it's a religion because no individual is verifying any of the models or information given to us, especially if it's theoretical, like physics and cosmology.

Wow....

Plenty. The math checks and is used to yield real world results. Plus many other geologic theories are grounded in a multi-shelled earth. Mantle, core, ect.

Its interesting to find out about these myths...but that is all they are.

I disagree with you.

The veracity of seismology is verified every day through not only volcanic and earthquake research, but industry. The metals used to build the computer you are typing on were probably discovered via a seismic survey. Rather I "research" this or not is not relevant. Seismology holds true in both theory and practice.

The connection has to do with consciousness? As in what? Another dimension (as stated above)? Why must these ancient myth be correct?

As someone who does conduct seismic research, you're better off sticking with the 'other dimension' angle. You will have no luck dealing with this dimension.

Do you think seismologists are completely impartial and cannot be controlled or manipulated by outside forces?

Is that the angle you're going to tackle this from? That every single one of us involved in the study of seismology is bought and paid for.

That's as ridiculous as giants living within the Earth.

If you have concerns you can check the math yourself. Propagation and wave attenuation are rather simple mathematical concepts. Most university students meet these concepts their sophomore year.

You can have your wild theories of science cabals and back room dealings all you want, but the math is still true and used every day.

Ayahuasca let's you "see" and "realize" the weirdest things. Not sayin there isn't another dimension where those beings may live. But sadly only visitable with the help of Ayahuasca.

Not true. You can have "journeys" through meditation/drumming/rattling etc. Without the help of any other substances.

Still its all happening in your head, not underground.

yes, i know. lol.

def not only ayahuasca. ibogaine, dmt (vaped) etc. all are visionary class entheogens - probably a few more analogues I'm leaving out as well.

Ya there are quite a few. Not sure why downvoted..

Cool!

Archaeology has had to follow the thinking and views of the archaeologists and it has been based on the culture beliefs and reinforcing those beliefs. The discoveries had to fit the narrative of the biblical and cultural views, young "created" earth.

Our newest archaeologists are looking at the evidences and at the myths and asking better questions because the religious establishment no longer has the power to block a different dialog.

Do remember myths are subject to changes over time and misunderstanding as well,

I love reading about these myths, but truly do not believe in them. Interesting stuff though.

..It think I now know what inspired The Midnight Meat Train

The Books of Blood are probably Clive Barker's finest work. Just amazingly well-written and effective short stories.

While not a traditional "journey to the center of the earth" or "hollow earth" story, the Mel's Hole saga on Art Bell's Coast2Coast show (there were two installments) stands as a real pillar of the genre and additionally one of the best radio shows ever. Here's part two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFVvAmh4O44

Macuxi Indians

I just mention it because it's really a great apocryphal tale and you'll enjoy it if you are this into hollow earth ideas.

what about flat earth theory? /s

Well...I have seen the pics of those massive skeletons.

I remember reading something a while back about how American sailors aboard nuclear subs found enormous caverns in the continental shelf off the west coast. Whatever I read, I remember it seeming pretty legitimate and despite the fantastic claim (and my own reluctance to believe it) I was impressed with the seeming validity to the claim.

According to what I read, the subs have traveled about 1000 miles east from the entrance to the caverns and back under California, Nevada, and Utah.

Anyone remember seeing anything like this?

Isn't going into the lower world a shamanistic technique? If so... there's an upper world too. Either way you imagine yourself going into a cave or crack or hole in the ground and... then kind of... pass through a wormhole... and then... spirit animals.

And so on.

Zunis and Hopi, have legends about their ancestors emerging from an underground world, Hopi have an interesting legend on 2 different races that came from the sky , the ant people and the snake people , to me this says any people = greys , and snake people , the reptiles , both come from the Colorado/new Mexico area (think area 51 and underground bases) , the Hopi state they came up from under the earth to dwell on land . worth looking into ;)

Yeah, and christians say there's a magic man in the sky who watches you every second you're alive and makes you burn in fire if you're bad... with wildly varying rules as to what's bad.

So... about the same time you want to start listening to what crazy people spout about shit you can't see, touch, experience, or even quantify................... don't.

good for them, i know a guy who say there is a white bearded dude sitting on clouds that waits for you to get dead and send you to paradise or hell. that guy is fucking rich and sits in palace in the middle of europe.

[deleted]

more like inventing fake crap for idiots to lose time with instead of checking what the real dudes are doing back to their asses

[deleted]

that is the point actually

Indians? There must be a more politically correct term.

These people, where they ever able to invent even the wheel?

I really don't understand why we would pay mind to such underdeveloped people. What of worth could they possibly have to say?

There are myths every bit as exciting from people far more advanced than these primitives. Particularly, the myths of civilizations that actually had written language... Those myths are more deserving of our time.

I believe you'd benefit a great deal by reading this. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns,_Germs,_and_Steel
