Reddit has blocked UnReddit

I'm surprised unreddit lasted as long as it did tbh. It's a slave new world.

https://www.voat.co/

The great migration of 2015.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Tip: Use night mode.

The problem is, r/conspiracy has it's place on reddit and should continue to do so. It must stay active for the sole reason that lost souls find the sub and gain a look behind the curtain that has been pulled over their eyes. If everyone from this sub was to migrate to voat, where would that leave the rest of reddit?

Floundering!

I came here from Digg some six aught years ago...The corporate take-over is in full stride!

I'll be here to turn out the lights.

I use both.

Thanks buddy

I signed up for voat earlier this year to check it out. "Obama threatens forced anal sex for anyone who doesn't accept the fag agenda" was near the top of the front page.

If it's, as mentioned above, "a clone of Reddit" you have complete control over what subs appear on your 'front page'.

This was before I even subscribed to any voats.

So Reddit before the fagdom ascended.

Just registered. Now I need to fiND the sub that's relevant to this sub.

It'll still be conspiracy. The site is almost a clone of reddit

Are we finally moving? =D

Groovy, thx!

its 'Critical Thinking' is the name of it. they didnt like the word conspiracy. because they feel there is some validation for why we think the way we do.

Merry Christmas

I'm not ready to make the jump. I want to but I think it still needs a bit of time to find its feet.

Is there an unvoat?

Their moderation is transparent for the most part. Think Reddit prior to conde naste.

It is 100% transparent, there is a log of everything the moderators do. It has even been used already to kick a mod by the admin (she deleted posts that didn't fit her agenda, including one where the owner took part in the discussion).

Voat is no better. They'll delete your content just as reddit will

So I went there, browsed /v/all, and one of the top posts was from /v/niggers. I went to check it out, and i came away hoping it's satire. Otherwise people were right, and voat is just a place for idiot racists.

I have left reddit for Voat due to years of admin mismanagement and preferential treatment for certain subreddits and users holding certain political and ideological views.

The situation has gotten especially worse since the appointment of Ellen Pao as CEO, culminating in the seemingly unjustified firings of several valuable employees and bans on hundreds of vibrant communities on completely trumped-up charges.

The resignation of Ellen Pao and the appointment of Steve Huffman as CEO, despite initial hopes, has continued the same trend.

As an act of protest, I have chosen to redact all the comments I've ever made on reddit, overwriting them with this message.

If you would like to do the same, install TamperMonkey for Chrome, GreaseMonkey for Firefox, NinjaKit for Safari, Violent Monkey for Opera, or AdGuard for Internet Explorer (in Advanced Mode), then add this GreaseMonkey script.

Finally, click on your username at the top right corner of reddit, click on comments, and click on the new OVERWRITE button at the top of the page. You may need to scroll down to multiple comment pages if you have commented a lot.

After doing all of the above, you are welcome to join me on Voat!

the user base is polite even when they totally disagree with you, and they go out of their way to reference the shit they say

Uhh, which Voat are you using? That's the complete opposite of the site I've been on.

Which subs are you reading? Because all I see on that site most of the time are hardcore pro-rich right-wingers and hate groups.

lol the first thing you see when you get on voat is a bunch of racist bullshit. Seems like blocking that would be blocking half the goddamn website.

*Puttitout :)

Right on, I didn't know, glad to hear it.

Why do they even have up or down votes if they don't want the site to be gamed?

because those already exist, they're called chans.

although, they really need to steal this comment tree format.

We also have removed the squatters trying to sit on subs like /v/punchablefaces.

Voat’s shittier than reddit. You can’t downvote anything without 100 upvotes. It’s even MORE group-think than Reddit is, if you can believe that!

Um no. It's just a much better at cutting down on troll accounts.

If you can't get a measily 100 upvotes on the life of your account ever, than you're probably just a piece of shit.

Or someone who reserves comments for when they matter.

reserves comments for when they matter comments matter

Congratulations on not even remotely comprehending the concept of discourse! Pro tip: something isn’t true or correct if a bunch of people agree with it.

Congrats on writing this on reddit, about voat, without a sense of irony. That is just a huge joke sir.

There is plenty of discourse on voat. I'm not going to write out the 6 examples I can think of off the top of my head because I go there everyday and I don't think you go there at all. You've obviously made up your dumb mind though.

There is plenty of discourse on boat.

Never said there wasn’t.

I don't think you go there at all.

Think whatever you want; you’re wrong.

reddit is much better for you then.

I fail to see how your reply is accurate in any possible way.

Voat’s shittier than reddit. You can’t downvote anything without 100 upvotes. It’s even MORE group-think than Reddit is, if you can believe that!

I'll translate: "I like reddit a lot more than voat, and i think that voat is very bad"

Then I say:
"reddit is much better for you then."

And you come back with:

I fail to see how your reply is accurate in any possible way.

I'm not sure how you can't see it. I'm glad you are staying away from voat though.

I’ll translate: "I like reddit a lot more than voat

You’ll have to take a remedial course. I hate Reddit, too.

”reddit is much better for you then."

Given the choice between cyanide and dog doo, I’d rather not eat either. Of course, given the choice between using either cyanide or dog doo for fertilizer, I’d take the latter and work with the thing that is simpler to fix.

I’m not sure how you can't see it.

Your statement just made no sense in context.

i'm not sure that snew is working properly still. I see very few deleted comments.

While not required, you are requested to use the NP domain of reddit when crossposting. This helps to protect both your account, and the accounts of other users, from administrative shadowbans. The NP domain can be accessed by prefacing your reddit link with np.reddit.com.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I nearly upvoted you until I saw the pun.

I'll take the downvote then, whatever blows your dress up friend.

I didn't downvote you either, I just didn't upvote you.

:D D: :D

Dude, get an account and only follow what you want to see. I RARELY see any racist shit unless i go over to v/all, and I'm subscribed to a ton.

Half the posts on /v/politics are racist/bigoted as fuck.

It's hilarious how they claim they want free speech then downvote everything they disagree with there.

It can be argued that downvoting is a form of censorship. The type of censorship Voat users are interested in more is moderator and perhaps admin derived, via removals. Comment and submission removals are logged automatically.

Half the posts on /v/politics are racist/bigoted as fuck.

I think /r/polandball is fucking stupid. That's why I don't go there.

Also, who cares if they have unsavory opinions? I'd rather see what they have to say than get some kind of sanitized bullshit served up by some asshole with an moral agenda. If you think their opinion is terrible, you have a downvote or upvote button as well. Or you could debate them, convince them of the merits of your argument, or whatever.

Tumbler is a "safe place ".

i think fdig would be much happier there or reddit where he doesn't have to worry about things that confuse and upset him.

I'd rather see what they have to say than get some kind of sanitized bullshit served up by some asshole with an moral agenda.

Then just read youtube comments. They're exactly that, uncensored, no PC moral agenda and only a wonky comment system to deal with. The only other problem is that they can make your eyes melt out of their sockets because they're so fucking stupid and horrible. It seems poor moderation only leads to excessive racism and pedophilia, just look at the *chans. At some point you stop wanting to see what they have to say, because what they say is not enlightening in the least, think unfettered cawadoody voice chat with squeakers calling your mom a nigger. I'm too mature for it.

I'm too mature for it.

And yet, here you are casually using the n-word to make a point. You'd fit right in, whether you realize it or not.

Who cares how racist somebody is, or about other people's opinion in general?

It's not that they're racist, it's that they conflate not being racist with being a 'sympathizer' or 'libcuck', and then downvote it into oblivion.

I'd rather see what they are saying than get some kind of sanitized bullshit served up by some asshole with an moral agenda.

I agree, but it's not just that you see the racism, anything remotely 'left' is actively censored by the circlejerk.

If you think their opinion is terrible, you have a downvote or upvote button as well.

I think you're underestimating the ratio of bigots to sane people. Thinly veiled Islamaphobia/Bernie hate even leak into /v/funny. The amount of highly upvoted ignorance and hate is insane. That alone would be one thing, but they dogpile anything that disagrees with them.

You're full of shit. I'm very liberal and also an active Voat user. Yeah, there are racists and right-wing assholes there, but I have no problem with them. I don't read the racist subs and the wing-nuts are entitled to their stupid opinions. At least Voat let's you see what they have to say and have a dialogue--reddit just deletes non-PC comments and shadow-bans people to give the impression that few people disagree with that bullshit. It's like 1984 around this place....I only drop in when I see a bullshit thread like this linked on Voat.

You're full of shit.

No, I'm really not. I'm one of the most active users of /v/politics that isn't right wing. I clash with them on a daily basis. Half of them recognize my username, and I theirs. Check my post or submission history there. Same username.

In fact, one of them just posted this about me:

hey look its cynoclast - the only liberal on voatJPG

https://voat.co/v/announcements/comments/738346/3616971

It's like you think I'm trash talking the site when I'm over there trying to keep it alive. Grow up.

There is so many rules in r/news that only mainstream media links are allowed.

[deleted]

Didn't she get about 1 percent of the poll but still won personality of the year?

The mainstream media don't care about what you want.

Sadly true. Racists regularly overrun /v/news.

I think that people just have their "racism detectors" on full blast because of reddit and the MSM being so PC. Then it just amplifies between them and the people in similar situations they come in contact with. "can i call obama black?", "can i call obama half-black?", "is he african american, are we still using that even though it is often wrong?", "i guess it's best if i keep my mouth shut"

These clowns need to be stopped. Fake elections, dazzling us with Facebook, Kim Kardashian and Star Wars, while they pass bills and trade agreements that might as well be called screw-jobs during the wee hours of the morning, on New Years and during times where people don't really pay attention. It's okay though, Satan's got a warm seat waiting for all these criminals.

Yeah, what's funny is that these crooks are actually leading me back to religion, mainly in the hopes that Hell is indeed real and they will most certainly be among those who suffer eternally.

...but doesn't eternity seem like a bit much? For anything? How rude.

Same here. This life is temporary. The worst of our human qualities arise when we believe that this life is everything and our top prioirty is to have as much as we can!

Very true. I've experienced enough on a personal level to know there is something far greater than individual gain within us that presents itself in a spiritual awakening. It's unfortunate the sadists do not embrace the notion of this existing.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate limited hangout? To be content that there is some form of "ultimate justice" and to go on your way paying no attention to what's happening?

Another win for Buddhism. Always a step ahead of me.

I wish I knew of this before.

What about uneddit? and r.goldfish.me

EDIT: uneddit is not working either

r.goldfish.me

My favourite

I read somewhere that uneddit was used for data collection to aid in doxxing redditors.

how?

bring on the massively distributed version. a little background program anyone can run that forwards the data to unreddit. Good luck blocking the entire internet admins.

Even as a developer, can anyone explain to me how uneddit worked (technical answers)? BTW, sucks that it doesn't work anymore, sigh..

I'm assuming that the deleted comments were stored somewhere accessible, now they are encrypted or placed somewhere where they cannot be accessed by anyone but admins anymore.

anybody got a link to that javascript unreddit button?

This is the Uneddit link I have:

javascript:void((function(){var e=document.createElement('script');e.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');e.setAttribute('charset','UTF-8');e.setAttribute('src', '//uneddit.com/phase_one');document.body.appendChild(e)})());

Hasn't been working the last couple of days though.

Blocking a subreddit is like blocking a channel on YouTube. Did anyone back up and mirror the posts from Unreddit?

Creeping normalcy - slowly change things over time and people will accept them. Only something that compares and contrasts currently accepted normalcy with what used to be can jolt the mind back to remember how it was and how bad it is now.

That's why it's gone.

I wish unreddit had kept track of self posts. Those got censored from here all the time.

With CISA being passed under our noses

It's already been passed, so it's not like unreddit was an important tool in that issue.

[deleted]

People at /r/privacy have been a bit more concerned.

I'll take door number two for the win frank

Unfortunately (but also unsurprisingly) Reddit has found a way to block unreddit and now no longer works.

we sure they didn't just change there rest api? what it does isn't too different from the waybackmachine except it's reddit customized. It would be very difficult to block. I guess you could blacklist the ip's they use to scrape from but that can be worked around pretty easily. It's behavior would be harder to accurately profile against a normal guest than I think reddit is capable of.

we are fuct

http://uneddit.com/

I've always used this.

fuck reddit owners and their agenda. and fuck reddit staff who pursue their master wishes as good fucking dogs they are

it's a private website but we can and should revolt against the owners wishes.

The website uneddit is on the site wide spam filter; all comments which link the url are autoremoved by the spam filter.

Here is the biggest reason censorship is happening so quickly you ready for this "Because we as a nation are waking up to there (Main stream media, governmental corruption and the Fed).

The problem is that UnReddit and other sites out there is they also prevent you from removing or editing your own content.

So if you make a comment and later choose to delete it, these services will show your deleted comment. That's not a good thing...

Things get removed from the internet? TIL

Not with these sites.

This is weird, people complain about Facebook keeping your information after you delete your profile, but a site keeping your Reddit comments after you delete them is okay?

This is weird, people complain about Facebook keeping your information after you delete your profile

People complain about that? I've never heard of that

It's almost as though reddit isn't a single person, and has separate thoughts on subjects

How about, "engage your brain before running your mouth", like you have to do in real life?

I'm on record multiple times as favoring the direct opposite: NO comment deletion by anybody, ever, plus any edits feature strikeout/insert marks so the original is always visible.

How about, "engage your brain before running your mouth", like you have to do in real life?

The internet is different to real life. So why should it be treated the same?

The internet is different to real life.

You are a human (I assume), but the actions you take, for some reason, related to a specific medium (the internet) should be treated in a different fashion than other actions? Why?

There is no difference between Internet and the real life. The internets, the communications, the statements are just as real as the real life.

You are a human (I assume)

...

the actions you take, for some reason, related to a specific medium (the internet) should be treated in a different fashion than other actions? Why?

Because this medium is different to speaking in person.

There is no difference between Internet and the real life.

There's a huge difference. On the internet there's no immediacy, you can plan your response, you can insert citations and all other kinds of stuff.

In person if you're talking or arguing a point, it's all very immediate.

On the internet, everything is recorded. Things in person tend not to be.

Not to mention the rather obvious fact that online anonymity provides a great deal of security and shit talking that people wouldn't dare do in person.

Because shooting off one's mouth without consequences feeds trolls, hit-and-run thread dilution/hijacking, and generally enables liars; "I never said that!".

In real life people forget, people move on, your word isn't recorded so only those that heard it can relay it.

On the internet, everything is recorded. You can say shit a year ago and someone can just look you up today and find that quote.

People change, their views change, they should be able to delete their comment history and move on.

I had no idea this even existed. Well, I can't say that it's a bad thing it was deleted. Some things should be removed from existence.

Voat is even worse than Reddit. The lack of censorship there in conjunction with the standard voting system means the people manipulating votes on the internet (i.e. the hard right wing) can get away with it even easier than they can here. And here it is pretty fucking easy, given that I've dropped 150 karma just from one night doing battle with Hasbara.

We also have removed the squatters trying to sit on subs like /v/punchablefaces.
