Question: Are the recent string of Flat-Earthers Shills trying to destroy this sub by making it look really dumb?

Please discuss.

Some may be trolls/shills some may be like me entertaining ideas and playing devil's advocate. I can tell you what though. From entertaining the idea of FE I learned quite a bit about some other things. I don't think the Earth is flat, my conclusion. But, TPTB are certainly lying to us about some things regarding space and science. Would never of learned certain things if I didn't entertain that idea.

Such as?

As in, what I learned or in regards to what they are lying about?

Both.

Well, I learned more about how the whole Heliocentric/Newtonian science/math goes back to Pythagoras, who was proto-Masonic and majorly a part of Ancient Magic/Mystery schools (occult/esoteric/Hermeticism). I also learned about the Van Allen Radiation Belt (and how we still cannot get out of it), and how some of these satellites would have to be created to withstand the heat of LEO. This could never withstand that heat.. That is just a small sample, of the things I've looked into, after FE.

I'm assuming you also learned that Isaac Newton was an occultist first and foremost. He predicted an apocalypse in 2060, spent vast amounts of time and research looking into divination and the Philosopher's Stone, had an enormous library of occult artifacts, studied ancient texts looking for hidden codes within them, studied alchemy, etc., etc.

Point being he was not the hard scientist he's made out to be at all. It would be more accurate to say he was mostly an alchemist/occultist in a way that was borderline obsessive.

and how some of these satellites would have to be created to withstand the heat of LEO. This could never withstand that heat.[1]  .

What's this point? Are you saying Hubble isn't real?

Yeah, I too noticed that the Flat Earth thing is incredibly new--and incredibly inorganic.

Though there was a real Flat Earth society in the early 20th Century, it never had more than 20 members and no one talked about it for decades. Then suddenly about a year ago: Blammo! A million fake "Flat Earth" advocates flooding websites critical of government.

It's a classic technique for discrediting people. You send out shills who claim to agree with you on reasonable positions. Then, just as they seem to align with all your points of view, they'll suddenly throw in a "Oh, and I also hate Jews" or "God hates fags" to discredit you. To link you [falsely] with them.

Agents provacateurs have been dispatched to do this for a few hundred years.

Back in the 1990s, the government had a big push to discredit the patriot movement by linking them with militia members and people who blow up abortion clinics. It's a method to scare away people from these movements which pose a real threat to the power structure.

They did it to the Ron Paul movement, too, turning the Tea Party movement into an "evil racist bigoted Klan rally of hate". They had to do it because too many Democrats and Republicans were finding common ground in a love of freedom. Solution? Equate the movement with racism and watch people flee in terror of being associated with it.

This is really messed up thing in my brain but I never associated Ron Paul with the tea party because I thought they were all idiots (and this is after talking to 2 of them for about an hour), and I've always thought Ron Paul was very intelligent, well spoken and had some very good ideas, especially legalizing drugs. That may have been the issue that made the two seemed incongruent. I think that was the point and it was successful. Republicans infiltrated like you said, and shut it down by klanification

Concern troll.

I'm not trolling. But I am concerned. Oh you mean the other guys.

Why would it reflect poorly on the subreddit? These threads and individual posts are usually downvoted to oblivion.

Except when they aren't because of botnets.

I kind of wish that when you friended someone, you could see an upvote total derived only from your friends' votes, and then in your prefs, per subreddit you could turn off the aggregate anyperson votes. This would be less helpful in subs like /r/news but very helpful in this one, which is rife with shilling.

I'd actually pay for a reddit like that. 5/month max

It's just one of their many tactics. The tend to flood generally though, whatever it is they are talking about.

really don't notice many flat earth threads.

I'm seeing people talk about it ALL over the place in this sub right now.

It's something strange that's happening right now. I would consider this recent surge that started maybe right after christmas, a type of disinfo 'attack'

Link?

Maybe it's not I've met some really fringy CT out there some of them actually believe this. And what if their right ? Aren't soldiers stationed In the South Pole with a border that allows them to use lethal force if it's crossed ? Thought I remember reading that somewhere.

Most everything on McReddit is purported as organic content when it is likely the exact opposite.

Answer: Yes.

What is the point of even mentioning photos in relation to the curvature of the horizon? Any photographer knows that the apparent curvature is entirely down to the focal length of the lens used.

No no, you're totally right. When I flew from LA to Japan, I actually went out of one side of the screen and poppped out on the other side going towards where I was. This is why they have pilots play asteroids instead of flight simulators to pass their exams.

So according to you this is curvature of the earth: http://www.incredible-adventures.com/edge/2/view-mig29-01.jpg ?

That would make the earth approximately the size of Texas

clearly these photos are faked look at the shadows... /s

Flat Earth is one of the best proven and rational theories of all discussed in this sub. You should keep your mind open and check some of the youtube videos

lol

Ok, I will just after I fish my brain back out of this pickle jar filled with blue barber fluid.

I would say "yes", simply because that's the way it's worked out in all other forms of media (print, radio, etc).
However, while the topic of conspiracies brings with it some of the smartest, most creative thinkers, it also comes with a shitload of sickos, and worst of the mentally ill.
So, like all other forms of media, it's being destroyed from the inside, and out.

As long as the posts don't make it to the front page it won't harm the image of this sub.

Judging a sub by /new would be retarded.

Yes. That’s literally all it is.

No, and you should dig deeper into the theory than just googling "curvature of earth from airplane at altitude." If it was that simple to debunk there wouldn't be such a large flat earth community. (It's larger than you probably think.)

Or alternatively: don't and ignore/downvote the threads that discuss it.

I spent months trying to come up with a way to debunk it simply and irrefutably and I am still not sure where I stand. I am certain that the earth is not exactly as we are taught.

No one is going to think any less of you because others are posting about the flat earth on this sub.

Is the earth round or shaped like a pear? Why is nasa lying to us and doctoring images of earth?

It’s a spheroid, slightly wider at the equator due to tidal forces. All planets are. Saturn is the most pronounced in this regard.

Niel Degrass Tyson said it's shaped like a pear. Google it please.

The Earth bulges at the equator due to the Earth's rotation and it has an even slighter variation in the top and bottom halves.

That's why he says it's pear shaped.

However, this variation in shape is less than 1%, so it's closer to a perfect sphere than a pear.

If the Southern Hemisphere is actually “larger”, it’s of a degree so small as to not be relevant to anyone or any calculation.

Can you really not resist attacking and insulting other users? You aren't a doctor and your medical diagnoses and personal attacks aren't welcome here. This is a friendly warning but for real, chill out.

I don’t understand what the problem is. I’m assaulted from all sides, lied about, misrepresented, and all I do is post refutations to the claims of idiots. Idiots, using the proper definition of the word–not as an insult–meaning someone who is WILLFULLY ignorant of presented information.

It’s not acceptable to enter a conversation and refuse to acknowledge what the other person says. Why would it be?

This other user didn't attack you at all. You responded to him by immediately accusing him of being mentally ill. Stop playing the victim card when it doesn't apply here at all.

Idiot or not, what information did you present that I willfully ignored?

what information [have] I willfully ignored?

Any and all proof we have regarding the operation of gravity. Any and all proof we have regarding celestial mechanics. Any and all proof we have regarding geology. Any and all proof we have regarding geography.

If you want to claim that there is a single, overarching conspiracy that has co-opted every single facet of every single area of study for the last 600 years, minimum, you’re going to have to provide some proof.

Are you genuinely interested in my response or are we still operating under the assumption that I am not worthy of discussion because I am an idiot?

Makes no difference to me.
