Stay on Reddit, don't let them disperse us like minded people across the internet to dilute our voice.
We need to stay mainstream and be heard by the many not the few.
Most importantly, DON'T change your behaviour due to changes in rules and laws. That is the main goal of TPTB, they want you to police yourself through FEAR.

Too many agendas being pushed on this site anyways.

Well, maybe use a VPN exclusively on a new account so that they can't give your information up to a vexatious company for a civil suit for "defamation" because of your criticism. But yeah, quite the PR push they've orchestrated here...

I discovered that nearly all the VPNs are compromised by the NSA, not by breaking encryption but by ownership and alliegance. They run their vpns on amazon's aws servers or google's: compromised. On cloudflare: compromised. On limelight cdn compromised. On digitalocean compromised. The DNS their software sets is google or level3, no matter how it disguises itself. private internet access is considered the most private, which means it's the most NOT, you can verify by the fact that I was with them and they gave ALL my info over to amazon. When the recurring payment came up, it billed me through an amazon processor and tried to bill using the card on file with amazon, instead of the prepaid credit card I had used previously. This was all done without my knowledge or consent. I complained directly to them and they ignored me 3 times on this issue.
You have to have a vpn in seychelles, russia or an enemy of the us country in order to really get privacy. That's fucked up.
SO I've given up that game. I paid for 99yrs of vpn ('vpn unlimited') on boingboing that i found out is compromised, so I use for Netflix but that's about it. There's no more privacy unless you use tails and tor, use the secured tails firefox browser and never ever log in to anywhere. Sorry to say.
I think we should fight out in the open instead of being shadowy like they are. Enough people do this and they'll get a really good idea that what they're doing is just not legit in any way.

Bad news buddy. TOR is compromised too.

Gonna make a new account but I'll still be around in spirit.

Adblock Plus + HTTS Everywhere + Ghostery

I switched to using "uBlock Origin"

use the fire fox add on no script. it allows you to pick and choose what loads and what doesn't takes a while to learn but it completely stops any of this b s.
1 G1DA30N 2015-12-31
What are the scripts you let run on reddit? What should which ones should I stop?
2 themadhat1 2015-12-31
there really isnt a lot to worry about in reddit. i just allow all of it. it gets tricky for instance when you go to a news source/site. holy christ the cookies they try to lay on you from those? unbelievable. so you just have to play with it. like you go to a news site and no script is blocking a vid you want to watch. the script you want is usually a cdn. something. it takes time. ad block is cool but it is on or off no customizing.
1 G1DA30N 2015-12-31
Yea, I have a hard time figuring what scripts do what, but for embedded videos there's a little noscript logo in the middle of the video's window you can click on to make it play.
2 themadhat1 2015-12-31
yup. you have to get to know all the titles. after a while they get familiar. shit like googles ad sense.com without all this shit loading on your browser your videos usually load way more fast. porn sites are a nightmare go to one and look at how much shit they try to send to your machine.
1 bkm_br 2015-12-31
I will give it a try to see how it works. Seems like a promissory alternative
2 911bodysnatchers322 2015-12-31
Obviously don't use chrome either. by default it has a remote desktop viewer enabled, which means all this time you didn't know it even existed they've could have been looking at everything you do. If it's gone from your chrome plugins, then it's either been removed because 'we' forced them to remove it by mass surveillance fear mongering and deep state scrutiny, or they've just baked it into the browser itself making it immutable, and removed your knowledge of it instead. Which do you think they did?
chrome://plugins/ Disable everything except wildevine and flash, you need those for netflix and amazon, which are the only 2 things you should be using chrome for anyway, if ever. It's better if you take it off your computer and use firefox like someone who knows something about what's what in their world around them.
Also: Ghostery is deep state. Sorry. Use NOSCRIPT and WorldIP
How do you know Ghostery is deep state? It slows down amazon browsing to where the browser almost doesn't function. Which says one of 2 things--1) it's using amazon to load some script that run at high CPU so it's doing something really complex, which likely means they are siphoning data or ghostery+amazon are trying to hack your machine by password cracking, 2) you the end user is being severely punished by amazon for having ghostery installed (amazon is effectively CIA now)--which means that this would be provable and a case for suing Amazon...which hasn't happened, therefore see item #1

Is a good idea to keep the Native Client plugin enabled, it works like a sandbox for the browser. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Native_Client
1 bkm_br 2015-12-31
BTW, you can always use Chromium instead of Chrome. https://www.chromium.org/Home

i thought ghostery was a questionable app to use? i saw an article here before saying it's basically owned by a corporation that does surveillance stuff. could be wrong but idk
2 bkm_br 2015-12-31
I personally understand that ghostery have an adequate level of privacy, specially if you opt-out for the GhostRank, but you should be cautious with any "privacy enhancer" plugin, for that reason I also use Adblock and the "Do Not Track" available on Firefox. On Chrome you can use disconnect as a second layer of protection.
3 CelineHagbard 2015-12-31
My understanding of "Do Not Track" was that it tells websites you don't want to be tracked, but they have no obligation to comply with your wishes.
1 bkm_br 2015-12-31
Yes, you are correct, for that reason I also use disconnect and ghostery side by side all the time on chrome and Firefox.
1 CelineHagbard 2015-12-31
That's good advice. I do use disconnect, I'll have to check out ghostery.
I just want people to be aware that "Do Not Track" does not make them any more secure. Like "private browsing," I fear it provides people with a false sense of security. I still think true privacy is likely unattainable on the modern internet, but tools such as what you recommend do make it harder to be tracked.

1 911bodysnatchers322 2015-12-31
Don't use ghostery...(ghost story), it's full of spooks. Ok I'll just say it, ghostery is very likely a tool used by deep state. See my other comment here about that specifically (ghostery+amazon)

However adblock has recently been compromised, so I highly urge those who enjoy the feature to move to ublock origin :)
1 bkm_br 2015-12-31
I never heard that Adblock was compromised, I know they allow some companies to pay to have their ads slip (what they call "acceptable ads") but you can opt out after you install it. https://adblockplus.org/en/acceptable-ads
1 AuroraAnyWays 2015-12-31
I'm not able to find the link at the moment - it was actually on this subreddit that I came across that piece of info about 3/4 weeks ago (I had had adblock plus myself up until that point in time). You always have to make compromises with free software though, if you're not the customer, you're the product, eh?
10 CelineHagbard 2015-12-31
You never had any privacy on this site to begin with, and now you're just capitulating your voice. Have fun in the voat echo chamber.
7 Heavy_Logic 2015-12-31
It's the truth, voat still needs a lot of work
when I last used it, and I was a mod on /v/conspiracy but I had absolutely no power
I couldn't delete others posts, I couldn't ban, I couldn't give power, I couldn't take power, I couldn't even delete MY OWN posts
Not to mention only a couple dozen people jumped reddit back when they took the vote numbers down and starting covert advertising
So I just stopped going
Like it or not, this is where it's at
7 CelineHagbard 2015-12-31
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think voat was destined to fail when they chose C# and ASP.NET as their platform. It just turned off so many open source devs that would have been happy to help. This led to the site being too immature to support any real growth when people were getting pissed at reddit, and I honestly think it's missed its window to succeed.
0 Durpy15648 2015-12-31
Seems you and I both heard him well enough in said echo chamber.
3 CelineHagbard 2015-12-31
What? OP just said he's leaving here, so while I heard his last statement, I likely won't hear anything he says again (unless he comes crawling back here.) I'm all for trying to migrate off reddit to a more decentralized system, but you can't just leave and expect people to follow. All leaving from reddit would accomplish is a slow drain of alternative viewpoints; the hive-mind will just become more solidified.
6 Horus_Krishna_2 2015-12-31
I like how they call it a privacy policy but you have no privacy

2 squiggles2187 2015-12-31
What's the best app to use for.this if you are mobile and not desktop ?
1 Nigger_Nuggets 2015-12-31
Ghostery has a mobile browser with built-in adblock that I use, although truth be told staying clear of any tracking with a mobile device is a bit moot if you're more worried about the NSA tracking since they'll just get the data from the ISP directly. I also have GPS disabled. You can also use tor but it's really slow. I'm not leaving reddit because honestly I think they already operate like this, they are just making it official now. I'm not going to change my behavior just cause some power hungry creeps want to control the Internet.
1 911bodysnatchers322 2015-12-31
I will still continue to produce arbitrary quality posts here on reddit. But have fun!
