Wow... the comments in this thread are cancer... she has a smart phone with gps, 3/4g/ wifi connection, and location services enabled. The phone knows where you go and when and provides 'services' to aid you in your typical daily routines. Google / Apple is not 'spying' on you... you are volunteering that information. I hope you all are trolling or at least 6 years old.
Are you really surprised? The people in this channel will immediately jump to the most paranoid conspiracy before they even bother to do the most basic research or think about what they are saying.
If you're so smart then tell me how she got the notification less than a minute before walking out the door? Why would the timing be that precise? She couldve been running to the grocery store. Also, I dont go to school at the exact same time every weekend. Theres no strict pattern to follow here
I love how apparently everyone here thinks they are important enough to warrant getting "spied on" by Google, LEA's and anyone else they're scared of. Like the NSA really gives a shit that your having a game night or something. Jesus Christ...
It has nothing to do with importance of an individual. They collect on ALL individuals. Information is everything and until you recognize that you will continue to be a slave to those more intelligent than you, who value information. Oh and should you ever become important to and need to be elevated to heightened scrutiny in the Intelligence world. Oh look there is this nice neatly packed digital file detailing your entire life's history.
Couldnt agree more. Its entirely possible that Google practices their latest spying software on middle class families before they move on to more important individuals.
My phone started telling me my eta to work. I never told it where i work, never searched the location, nothing. Im assuming it knew i went there every day around 9am so therefore that was my work. Also, my auto fill will occasionally auto type what I was just talking about. Example: "Hey man, do you know how much psi my car tires are rated for?". Search google, type in 'how', then it auto corrects "How much psi...."
No matter how spontaneous people claim to be on their tinder profile, everyone to some extent lives to a pattern. These patterns rely on facts and not assumptions.
Google tells me where I park, when I have a plane to catch, at what time I need to leave to catch my plane. etc etc. I wouldn't worry to much about it.
I know, I understand what you're saying. If I say something you don't like you will no longer allow me to say those things. I have to fall in line and behave in a certain way or you will use your authority to silence any voice of dissent you disagree with.
I live in America, I know how this works. Those in power control the message. The scale doesn't really matter. YOU have power, YOU control what YOU want said on YOUR sub. Freedom of information is a nice thought but really, those with power would rather abuse it for their own ends. This is a pretty good example of that.
I dont understand why you keep telling me this. I get it, drink the punch. Fit in, and go with the flow. It's more important to accept the commonly stated narrative than to be independent. Even if you're right.
Right, I can't say things that the powers that be disagree with or something that I don't have iron clad proof of.
I don't see what you think i'm not understanding. Are you seriously just desperately trying to ignore the fact that you're basically the government of this subreddit except with stricter laws and tighter control on information? Just own it.
But its not all views inclusive. It is literally a rule that you can't complain about the rules. I mean it's like you're looking at an apple and just screaming that it's an orange over and over again until it comes true. But it wont. Because it's an apple.
Posts that attack this sub, users or mods thereof, will be removed. Accusing another user of being a troll or shill can be viewed as an attack, depending on context.
Complaining about the rules is not the same as attacking the sub. Often what happens however is that people do both in one comment. Hence your confusion, I'm guessing.
And what's "ruining free discussion of ideas" is the malicious people who come in here and attack, insult and try to bully into silence anyone that they disagree with.
Only thing is that it records the habits of the user which later can be used to figure out whether they are a danger to the society in the future. And computer programs can provide wrong data. They are working on it. Also the record truly gives ammunition to sophisticated buglers.
You could have control about your smartphone but people are too lazy and turn everything always on. I have no speech recognition at all and only activate gps when i need it.
I think Google released their AI program. It spies on you and does stuff for you, listening to everything you say and do. But that's ok, they're only using that data to sell things to you and make money and do things to your phone automatically, eventually controlling all of your networked appliances. edit: sorry i have to add that that was sarcasm
This is one of many reasons why everyone should throw out their smartphone and refuse to buy another until the user has complete control of every aspect of the device right out of the box.
I did, and I do not allow smartphones in my home. My guests know to either leave them in the car, or place them in the soundproof Faraday cage box by the front door. It is inside the lower compartment converted hall tree and has a speaker wired inside playing 24\7 talk radio. Its comical when the box is opened after gamenight, everyone's phones get their texts at once and it sounds quite discording.
Could you please submit a post in /r/electromagnetics on how you constructed a soundproof faraday cage? Please use the subject tag [Shielding: Mobile phones]. Thanks.
I can take some pictures of the one I plan to build for a friend during construction. It is basically a standard solid frame, dual walled Faraday cage made from scrap copper, the soundproofing comes from an outer shell constructed of wood/eggfoam/spun glass and includes a small speaker attached at bottom. Both the shell and cage open in the front and held closed by a tension and sealed with weather stripping. The whole unit is fitted to the lower cupboard of a hall tree. grounds/power goes through rubber fittings from an old radio power supply, then through the back and the toggle for the radio attached to speaker is wired inside the top drawer.
/u/NoWhiteLight, how were you upvoted 14 points and Argus_Omnibus downvoted minus 20 points? Is it because you commented in both this link post and its crosspost in /r/topmindsofreddit?

It's Google Now, you moron.
Just remove/disable the app or install CyanogenMod without gapps.

I wouldnt call it "looking" in the sense that you have to find it sooner or later. "A shot in the dark" is much more fitting though

Because of GPS, the phone knows where you are Monday to Friday nine to five.

Rule 5. Final warning.
1 CaptainK3v 2016-03-28
Huh didn't realize you guys were into using authority to suppress information and practice censorship.
1 TheGhostOfDusty 2016-03-28
If you can't follow the rules then you don't need to be here disrupting everyone else's experience.
1 CaptainK3v 2016-03-28
Right, conform and don't make waves.
1 TheGhostOfDusty 2016-03-28
"Make waves" and buck conformity (on a conspiracy theory forum, lol) all you like, just don't break the sub rules in the process.
A good example of a contrarian here who can regulate his temper and follow rules is /u/Rockran. Observe and learn.

Because you seem to be unable to comprehend it properly so far but I feel that you might get it eventually if I phrase it right. ;)

You're not explaining anything.
Ok gotcha
Right, I understand
Are you using a language that is very similar to but still different from english?

Don't attack other users with insults or unsupported accusations. Simple enough?
