There's an active "down vote brigade" at the post "Domino’s, McDonald’s, & Wendy’s Are All Feeding You A Chemical Used In Silly Putty".

Unfortunately they will find their way over here as well.

You don't think it's just a bunch of the fatasses who occupy reddit that are down voting? After all, those fast food places are probably where they get half their calories.

McDonalds has a strong presence on Reddit

So? Lots of chemicals show up in weird things. Pancake mix usually has silicon dioxide and that has uses in heavy machinery and a chemical used in cement. Much WOW.

Not my pancake mix.

Yes it does. Even if you ground wheat you grew to make your own flour, mixed your own baking powder from base materials, made your own salt from sea water or ancient seabed, that pancake mix would likely have silicon dioxide in it. It's a major component of sand and many types of rock (quartz is nearly pure silicon dioxide).

Right but why would you bake with sand in any apprciable quantity?

Nvm, you're obviously too far down the chemical fallacy rabbit hole. Friendly reminder: You should really avoid this dihydrogen monoxide thing, it's a powerful solvent that can rust a nail and they use it in fracking fluid. Nasty stuff.

lol

I reverse osmosis my own.

They use milk on an industrial level to make glue and plastics. The notion that you can determine a compound's safety based on a scary sounding name or it being used industrially is dangerous misinformation. It causes people to overlook the danger of "organic" and "natural" compounds.

Yeah, i wouldn't eat things with chemicals like Phenylalanine, Leucine, Methionone, Proline, Linoleic Acid, Palmitoleic Acid, 3-Methylbut-1-YL, Hexanoate, Aspartic Acid, Phylloquinone, and is then sweetened using Ethene Gas.

Oh what, hell yeah I would!

Bananas are delicious!

Just because a chemical has a use in one thing, and sounds scary doesn't mean it's going to kill you and give you cancer.

Actually go out and read peer reviewed literature as to what it does before breaking out your pitchfork and torch.

That's like saying "an ingredient in tank tires is used to cook your food!" (Charcoal), or "compound used to stabilize explosives used in makeup products" (clay).

You ARE talking about what other people eat, that is what the article is about.

Yeah, i'm going to leave this be... I don't have an alt account, and i never vote on things, and even less so comment and post. Believe what you want, but at least try to be objective about it.

I don't know what Ethene gas is but I do know what Ethylene gas is. You're arguments suck and are a distraction. Get lost. You are comparing apples and oranges, or should I say bananas.

Looks like you cleaned house over there, LOL!

Did you see the post I think it was yesterday of a Hillary shill admitting he got paid $150 a week to come on here? He seemed legit, but who knows. It's all so fucked up.

[deleted]

I noticed that too. He's got a ridiculous amount of up votes.

[deleted]

oh yeah

[deleted]

Check out his background posts. He claims to be a gay biochemist student. The poster who claimed to be shilling for Hillary was also a college student.

[deleted]

Yeah I saw his posts on acetominophen and his grandma's illegal antidepressants. He's probably working the drive threw right now. They have him do this shit on the side.

[deleted]

That's fucking hilarious.

Yeah there's no way any right wing nut would make up a lie like that to try to discredit anything anyone says in defense of Hillary.

Can't get a good troll for under 1000$/week.

You can fool some people some times, but you can't fool all the people all the time.

I pulled it from Marley. I didn't know Kravitz used it as well. It actually might be an Abe Lincoln quote originally.

They haven't had anything to say on the anal leakage issue.

http://www.google.com/patents/CA2000784A1?cl=en

I remember olestra had the same issue. It prevents proper absorption of nutrients within the intestine.

Starting in 1996, an FDA-mandated health warning label read "This Product Contains Olestra. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools (anal leakage). Olestra inhibits the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E, and K have been added".[12]

Yep - and the personal experience varies considerably.

I can't eat the stuff. I wind up on the toilet within 30 minutes, and I am not alone.

Do people still eat there?

They have taken a hit, whether they admit or not is another thing. I have noticed that people with still eat this crap even if they have been told whats in it.

EDIT: http://www.wpxi.com/news/mcdonalds-close-900-stores-amid-falling-profits/46306821

It's like 2 year old news according to google and youtube. Not that its not good info to get out. I'm just saying it's not new.

It got quite a bit of engagement, even though it is old.

|" In October 2013, an earlier version titled "You Won't Believe Where Silly Putty Is Hiding in Your Food" targeted several large food companies for their use of dimethylpolysiloxane." | this is from http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/sillyputty.asp I'm very confused as to why I was down voted??? What I said was true.

Snopes is not a trusted source around here. That is why you are downvoted.

Well my first post was the one that got down voted that I was referring to, it did not reference snopes. I only quoted snopes because they had information as to when this story first broke, which was in 2013. I get that the snopes is not trusted as a source for say debunking something, but I was only using it as support for this story being old. Coincidentally snopes actually said this story is true. :)
