Reddit mods government employees?

10  2016-06-27 by [deleted]

I was wondering what your guy's take on mods being government employees. I've posted on an off on Reddit over the last couple years and have made two postings under different usernames that were immediately removed. One username was permanently banned and the other was banned in a way that my account is still active but other people cannot see what I post or when I make comments. It seems suspicious to me. What do you guys think?

Certainly I believe communism and now socialism are controlled by the FBI. Worldnews has long been rumoured to be controlled by British intelligence.

How can you tell the difference between the two agencies controlling subreddits if they're both part of five-eyes?

I'm just going by the things the FBI did in the 50s. The FBI is more within US borders, the CIA external, and the NSA more listening than doing.

Okay but then why is Worldnews specifically British intelligence?

Judging by who their censorship benefits.

Sock puppets are a term for fake accounts used to steer public approval. If you think the most powerful nation in the history of the world ain't using propaganda on the most powerful communication system ever them I have some land to sell you on the moon.

Wouldn't surprise me (if many were), in fact it makes perfect sense regarding the platform.

Technically, if you are sitting in a gov office as a mod, it's not an unpaid position, but a strategic position, hence the zealousness ;).

Makes sense that they would take on side money doing government contracts?

I had completely forgotten about that. The government definitely realizes the resource that reddit is

Nah. Government has access to everything, that's all they care about.

What if I said something that really exposed their operation? I'd tell you guys what got me so weirded out if I thought you'd believe it haha.

Shoot

I made a posting that was immediately removed. The same night a guy started going to my gym. Blacked out SUV. He seems to constantly be analyzing me. Follows me within a block of my home everyday. I make another reddit account and post again. Account gets shadowbanned and then gym guy shows up with someone else. Tonight they don't workout. Just stare at me. I leave and they follow me to the parking lot. Another car shows up and they turn around and head back into the gym. I make a posting two days later under a throwaway saying "I posted here a couple weeks ago about.... and as it turns out I was wrong! Sorry for the misleading information." I never see the guy again. I made this reddit account after a year of being off reddit and all of a sudden the same guy is back at my gym. Thoughts? Overly paranoid?

Go ask the guy to use his phone and call yourself. Or ask to borrow a dollar. Or figure out who the car is registered to from the vin.

But yeah, probably paranoid.

I will have to do that tonight!

I think its possible, what topic did you post on if you don't mind me asking?

Go on..

air force

Air Force?

Do you mean admins? Because mods can't ban or shadowban.

I can ban.

Not from Reddit.

I can ban you from every space where I hold the power to do so.

And when you come back (and you will - I'll be waiting) I'll report your account for ban evasion and then you'll disappear and have an IP ban.

It happens all the time.

But do I do it? No. Because I'm not a dick. But that doesn't mean one who becomes a mod of this website (do you think I put it on my CV?) might also be a dick.

So there. Want to talk about it?

Meh, him and I have a strange relationship.

More of a agree to disagree and enjoy a detente.

That's just normal mod powers.

And when you come back (and you will - I'll be waiting) I'll report your account for ban evasion and then you'll disappear and have an IP ban.

Which is something anyone can do (the reporting part). If that happens, i'll be mindful to not use the account 'Rockran1'.

Want to talk about it?

You're not an admin, so there's no much I can think to talk about. If you've got something else to get off your chest then go ahead.

No biggie my man just stopping by.

You do what you gotta do.

And I'll do the same.

Deal?

I guess so! I didn't know the difference! I apologize

Well OP states he had his account banned, and another shadowbanned, that that was what caused his suspicion. Mods can't do those things so he's talking about admins.

But if you mean seperately, if some mods are secretly paid, then sure, that's possible.

What if some mods are admin alts?

Then that would surprise me because they already hold all the power.

Then that would surprise me

Why?

because they already hold all the power.

How so, in the context of "organic content", moderation, and administration?

Something, something, illusions?

So then the admins banned me. I'm just surprised that on a conspiracy subreddit, it literally took minutes for both of my accounts to be banned and postings removed

So it was for something in this sub. Chances are it was for violating a rule here or violating a general Reddit rule.

You gotta give them a reason to ban you, it would be silly if people were just banned for literally no reason.

I guess I should figure out what rule I violated so I don't do it again haha. I have absolutely no idea

I'm a top SRS mod and I've never been offered a dime!

What's SRS?

Oooh. Haven't checked it out yet. I'll have to take a look

go fuck yourself and your scumbag sub
