The US has never been a democracy and was never meant to be a democracy. It was supposed to be a representative republic (the original intent of the founders).
I think it is funny to see people outside of this country being swept up in the spectacle of it all. Just know that the Col. (aka Sanders) is just as big a piece of the spectacle as any other candidate. Really the only sane choices are to write in "none of you bastards", "ficcus", or "Odin" (basically a vote of no confidence).
I do think it is cute that you think the American people actually have a choice or that they have any power in the vote. Do a little research into the Electoral College and you will begin to see how little our politics actually represents the will of the people. ;-)

What we have now is run, not by wolves, but by psychopaths. They are eating us alive. Under Democracy we might make mistakes but we would try and we would improve over time . They don't believe in empathy conscience compassion or remorse. They believe in the law of the jungle, dog eat dog and survival of the fittest.
When that last dog finally survives in the jungle, I can guarantee that will it not be a civilized human being. Humanity will then have been tossed on the pile of nature's failures.
Forget their Psy op jingle. We would never rule ourselves as destructively as they do.
Hopefully the reaction will set things right. But I doubt It. We'll just accept the outcome and continue on. We didn't even have any proper riots at either convention. They've got everything locked down.
