Reddit is now mainstream media.

Not really Reddit but the moderators. If you do not answer or reply as they like it will be cut or banned, even if you follow the rules. If you do not have a million in karma and actually speak your mind in freedom of speech you are censored. Reddit is now under the control of what moderators think. If they want you to be pro Trump they edit Hillary and vice versa. Reddit has become Fox News.

The last presidential election was 4 years ago. Internet culture has changed quite a bit since then. I wasn't on Reddit back then, but I'm pretty confident that things were very different when Obama was running for re-election in 2012. At the very least, we didn't have Correct the Record publicly announcing that they're illegally working directly with the Hillary campaign to astroturf social media. Yeah, I'm sure there was astroturf, but the impact this election has had on the Internet feels a lot different than any other election the Internet has seen yet. Probably has a lot to do with all of Hillary's and the DNC's scandals involving hacks, leaks, and emails and the fact that as each year goes by more and more people "live" on the Internet now.

Indeed. Reddit was created as a community to give people a voice, now what we got is a repeater for content from "reputable media" aka big money corporate media. It's sad.

Where can young people go to hear the uncensored truth?
10 eupf 2016-08-01
no where. Read history, and lots of it. Trust your own sense of reason. Engage fellow citizens, online or otherwise. Ignore elitist twits. The post-modernist era has been a pandora's box that can't be shut, all based on the one truth they actually brought to the table: there is no "truth" (confused yet? :P)

The best advise is get news from multiple sources, read the left leaning news and the right leaning news, fill in the blanks and read between the lines...somewhere in the middle is the truth.

https://voat.co of course!

Democracy Now with Amy Goodman.

I've been enjoying Glenn Greenwald on The Intercept.

I blame Mythbusters, gutter tier atheism for the rise of "reputability" as a euphemism for the desired bias.
10 Namesoog 2016-08-01
The sad part is we are sitting at 19 trillion debt and no one cares. No one!!! Oh well back to my Mac and cheese and beer.
9 Fullofshitguy 2016-08-01
Fuck that debt.
2 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Absolutely, freedom of speech.
2 Namesoog 2016-08-01
You should say what you want. A million minds thinking create power. One mind thinking and censoring creates weakness. The USA is becoming weak having only a few minds think for everyone.
4 troglo_dindu_dyte 2016-08-01
The debt that isn't being talking about is the corporate debt. It is getting close to 75 trillion. Exxon is going to the red and that never happens. That coupled with Europe's banking issues things are fuct. Can you say bubble? Economy has stalled. Stagflaton? Crexit?
1 SandersGuccifer2016 2016-08-01
I think the US is propping it up by a hair at the moment to get through the election. It's been flat for several quarters.
Consumer Car loan bubble is about to burst too.
2 troglo_dindu_dyte 2016-08-01
I've seen these bubble a few times in my life. G 20 meet last week in china agreed on more quantitative easing adding to the 12 trillion since 08. All the money from these quantitative easing has gone overseas or straight to the top. Quantitative easing is also causing the value of our money to erode.
1 SandersGuccifer2016 2016-08-01
YAAAAAY! Quantitative easing! Needs a depressing school house rock. Good explanation.
1 avohec 2016-08-01
It's actually a couple of quadrillion dollars if you factor in the global derivative market.
6 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Hmmmmm should email South Park to do a Reddit episode. LoL
3 Namesoog 2016-08-01
You know how they say the culture of your company filters down from management. Well I think the culture of the country has filtered down from the government. Corruption from the very top. It's all about $$$$$$$$$ and the country second. Bankrupt the banks through mortgage schemes that default and get paid a million dollar bonus for doing it. WTF!
1 dizzee_raskolnikov 2016-08-01
That is absolutely the case, and it's also a great argument for voting Trump

/r/RedditMinusMods is my new favorite sub.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Great thought but it's like father shoots and kills son in dispute. Than on page 48, 2 days later there is a retraction it wasn't the father but a hobo who jumped off the train that day. The thought was there but the delivery, well it was page 48. The mods control our minds. It's like the South Park Episode Yelp rating. They have the say.
2 plato_thyself 2016-08-01
If you click on the comments you can browse through clickable text, the original post links and comment chain. It's literally reddit without mods.

2 vetyu 2016-08-01
It's alright, the community base isn't as good though.
How about you?
2 d3rr 2016-08-01
I suppose I mostly use it for political news and /v/conspiracy I don't need it for entertainment type stuff.
1 petrus4 2016-08-01
Uncensorednews is basically a Reddit extension of Stormfront; the mainstream subs are infested with Stormfags as well, for the most part.
I do not want a single mainstream media which is Left dominant, and a single "alternative" media which is Right dominant and/or white supremacist. I don't believe in white nationalism any more than I can stand looking at BlackLivesMatter or feminism and their crap.
1 vetyu 2016-08-01
I agree but there's no way around it. Listening to both sides though and making your own opinions will open your mind on subjects instead of only reading the view points of what you want to hear.
0 petrus4 2016-08-01
I don't want to listen to either of those two sides. Occasionally there is a good post in here about some unreleased archaeological news, or weird stuff that NASA is holding back. That is what I want. I don't care about political crap.
1 vetyu 2016-08-01
Use RES to try filter out anything to do with politics then instead of whining about what YOU want.
2 Namesoog 2016-08-01
And freedom to choose. That's what gets me into problems on Reddit. I'm not pro or against vaccines I just want to have the right to choose what goes in my body. I am not against GMO's I just want to know so I CAN MAKE THE CHOICE to eat them. The mods here think they like the government should make the choice for everyone. Most people like that on Reddit. They don't want to think. They would like the government to do that for them. Like lemmings they want to be told what to do, how to behave and how to think. Never ever think outside the ordinary. Yikes!!
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
You are correct, I just had some hope. Where do young people go now to see the truth?
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
I am upset because I really do not know who to vote for. Crook, corruption, vs crazy. I really am perplexed this time. Who is the third party?
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Hmmmm too funny. I can post in conspiracy and all is OK. Post according to the rules but against the mods feelings in any other site and vvvvvut your done. I guess comedy and porn are the only other sites legit.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
People use sarcastic comedy for acceptance. I understand that.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
It really is unfortunately. I was told two things I really follow. (1) Follow the money to find the answer and (2) money is involved in every decision ever made. This has been true since the Roman empire.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Well I guess I start acid again.
2 eupf 2016-08-01
nah...if you've done it once/a few times, you've seen what it has to offer. Go easy on that.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
I think every great inventor or personality in the USA used acid, Einstein, Edison, Jobs. Time we free our minds from mainstream.
1 911bodysnatchers322 2016-08-01
It is not "fox news", but you are right there is censorship.
I've written a bunch of things receiving some acclaim here that would never ever be aired on fox news let alone any news channel not even RT; for example how the US government is the biggest "batshit paranoid" conspiracy theorist the world has ever known
1 deepfatthinker92 2016-08-01
Fox News>Reddit
at times.
1 kayjaylayray 2016-08-01
And this isn't just happening in the main subs. Even smaller subs have massive bias and corporate corruption as well as brigading and lack of discourse when someone injects a real opinion or truth.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
Did it make it out of the conspiracy sub? Most other subs would not allow you to say anything like that. We must walk in line.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
I equate it that way only because other subs have their slant on the way they want you to view things. If you comment outside their beliefs goodbye comment. It is censorship and mind manipulation at its best. Trust us, we're experts.
1 Namesoog 2016-08-01
It wasn't always that way. That's how I got to the negative karma so fast. I spoke my mind and didn't care about Fcuking Karma chameleon. When Reddit started it was more open but as it became large it became a threat to corporate America and even the government took notice that people were speaking openly. Now they are the mods. They control what goes on.
1 petrus4 2016-08-01
I'm guessing that this is the reason why they flooded Usenet with warez and crap; Usenet was decentralised and had no moderators. Of course, most Millennials probably don't know about Usenet, and would probably consider it too hard to use if they did. Google is trying hard to create a single central Usenet server as a means of destroying the network, as well; just as it is doing with DNS.
