Colonial Pipeline Leak
63 2016-09-15 by blitzburghfan06
252,000 gallons of gasoline have leaked in Alabama since last Friday (originally estimated at 42,000) and MSM is saying nothing? Fuelsnews.com is reporting they are treating this like a natural disaster and going to code red. Gas will start to become scarce in the Southeast this weekend. Twitter is even blocking links to information saying they are "harmful". Anybody heard about this or think somethings up?

This happens ALL THE TIME. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if unreported leaks were happening on a daily basis. Most drilling operations are in remote areas and the companies seldom report problems unless they are forced to do so by outside attention.

This company does not do any drilling. They carry several million barrels per day on their pipeline network, this leak is substantial, but a small fraction of what they transport daily.

So tired of the 'fractional leak' excuse, which is industry standard.

Not much of a conspiracy here.
Colonial Pipeline is openly maintaining a spill response website with updates:

Nice to see they're concerned and keeping the public updated...about 'supply disruptions'.

That pipeline carries 1,000,000 barrels of product per day. So while it's a large amount of gas that leaked, it appears to be a fraction of what goes through the line on a given day. It doesn't read like there will be a big impact to supply in the southeast. Also, it's in a remote area so the risks to people are low. Still, it's got to be a huge negative impact on the local environment.

My town is 100% out of gas.
It would have really been nice to know about the shortages ahead of time.
Before I was discouraged with the media, now I am fucking furious. I will have to walk to work for the next week.

It's on AL.com so it's probably not a conspiracy. This place is pretty close to me and I haven't heard anyone mention it but I do live in a bubble after all.

And the recent BP oil spill. Has that burning methane gas pipe in CA stopped yet?
3 trytheCOLDchai 2016-09-15
CA methane has been sealed as of Feb 2016
