It's an anagram for "Source Holdings." But that may be meaningless.

You may be on to something, I was just thinking that it doesn't sound like a real name at all.

Embedding pulsing media into tv programs or computer videos to excite the system and trigger certain psychological responses?
Good lord this is some next level shit right there. I'm afraid to look at the rest of those patents.

Very nice. I like the 94 patent for the dream state machine, which induces lucid dreaming in the wearer.

So I did a little digging after coming across this.
Apparently the guy by the name of Hendricus G. Loos published a book in 1990
As you can see there's only one copy, and it's used, and going for over a hundred bucks. That's weird. But anyone can self publish on amazon. Supposedly it's pretty easy to do so.
Then I looked at another link, and found this which is kind of weird. But there's a link to a download of the pdf of the book, which says the book was written by this guy, and has an address: Laguna Research Laboratory, 3015 Rainbow Glen, Fallbrook CA
Well, okay that's something else. I google that and get this page. Okay so it's a company. But one employee? Oh and lookie there. Received funding from The United States Department of Defense and Department of Health and Human Services.
Going back to the pdf, there's also a passage: Sponsored by: Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Aerospace Technology Office issued by Army Missile Command Under Contract #DAAH01-88-C-0887
Well shit. What the fuck is that about.
But now let's get into the content of the book. Lots of math. A whole bunch of shit that is way out of my league (dropped out of highschool). But since I am a slacker programmer I do recognize some phrases here and there. The one that immediately stuck out to me was "Addressable Memory" and "Associative Memory".
This definitely makes me think about AI. Now again, this is way over my head but as far as I've read and heard, making AI's associate things with other things based on memories is a somewhat unsolved problem, and from what I understand that's pretty much the reason captcha's work (other than a bunch of other shit, but bear with me)
Now this is really weird. Why is this guy (or entity, assuming it's not even a dude and really just a made up name used by some shell company set up by the army/DoD/DARPA) file a bunch of patents detailing ways to influence the nervous system?
I mean the nervous system part makes sense, and that ties in with DARPA/DoD involvement, and even the DHHS, but what's up with the super dense theoretical AI shit?
Anyways, this has been fun but I've hit a dead end. Thought I'd share what I've found.

this is quite burried and I'm not sure you'll get a lot of visibility here, your research is really relevant and perhaps you should make a new post about the guy and his patent including the research you've made about him, that was a great post!

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I'm being 100% truthful when I say to you all that this guy is actually my grandfather. All I will say, out of respect for our family, is that he is simply an incredible man with a brilliant mind, not a secret villain plotting world domination. I have to say it's amazing seeing all this buzz about him, I had no clue he made it onto Reddit of all places!

Who are You? What does your grandfather say about the patents? Thanks, RPTruesdell

Do you reckon he'd do an AMA on his work? Seems like a pretty interesting guy!

Yeah, we don't believe you. Have you ever looked into his patents and who he worked for? Not saying he's a bad guy, but the cause he was contributing to is messed up.

Hi all, popping back in here because I just now got around to checking my messages. A lot of you have questions, but I'm afraid I can't answer any of them. Hendricus passed away recently, and as far as I know hasn't touched his research in years. He was a brilliant man who will be remembered fondly for his genius. I respectfully ask that you all discontinue trying to contact any of us about his patents; we frankly don't know a whole lot, probably less than you avid searchers do! You have autonomy and can continue to speculate as you see fit, maybe you'll even make some cool discovery-- but my family doesn't want any part in the Q&A. Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm, it's been fascinating to see all the excitement!

Either you are completely full of shit about him being your grandfather or you are purposely desensitizing people to his patents and research. I'm a psych major and research like this is not to be taken lightly. I have done enough research to know he was working for certain government defense factions.

This could also be the guy that saves us, preventing big companies from getting these systems.
