Are you chipped?

I am a retailer in a restaraunt in Texas. We just implemented the new Veriphone credit card holder. The chipped credit cards are very slow. I believe it is a temporary technology. Not all the credit cards are chip cards yet. Wells Fargo currently has bigger fish to fry. All day long I hear people say I am not chipped. We are not chipped. So on and so forth. Subtle mind conditioning themselves to take a chip or rfid. The technology exists in the Veriphone card reads. You can tap the reader with your phone and it will deduct money from either your Google wallet or apple pay account. The same can be done with a programmed rfid chip. Are we moving closer to a cashless society as quickly as it seems. As it stands our money is garbage anyways. There are more digital transactions than there are bills in curculation. Feel free to sound off on this.

I refuse to setup Apple Pay or Google Wallet. Sketchy as hell.

Agreed. I will not use it

Me three.

Fourth, having my card info stored in my phone doesn't not sound like safe guarding my information...

It's awesome if you need to buy a cup of coffee and have no $.

What a great feature to allow "those with the knowledge" to take out loans from all these "giving investors" in this new chip technology.

Huh.

I'm suggesting that the new technology made certain types of fraud "more accessible."

No shit. For what convenience? Not pulling out my cash or card? No, the bank already has the info, google, you aren't getting it.

Actually, it's far safer than giving your credit card to merchants or using it at a gas pump. Look up the tech, the merchant never sees the credit card number. All they get is a confirmation number.

Any of you with smart phones probably have given Apple or Google your credit card number anyway, so it reduces the number of places that have access to it.

My new bank card is chipped. I went to trader Joes and they made me do the new " chip " transaction, instead of swiping. Now you insert your card in the front of the machine to read your chip in your debit card. It was super inconvenient, and it took me a couple try's. But I have a shitty phone and dont have any of those new age payment features

The new payment types are shit. It is supposed to be inconvenient so that when they roll out the rfid it's super fast and convenient. All I can say is don't do it.

The Mark of the Beast will be convenient...

That's what I am implying.

At least we know never to take the chip...

Super inconvenient? So you had to insert the card instead of swiping it... cry me a river. The reason they made you use the chip was because if they don't and the charge is disputed as fraudulent then the merchant is liable.

Okay....

Actually, it's done to fuck over the merchants buying these new machines (as they are required to do, by law.) I see the merchant fees and what do you know, about 38% of the chip cards for last quarter used a different merchant for handling debit... and it increased their cost (The store, not the customer.)

Now, that's not the long term goal, but more of a "pay off a good friend" short term goal. If you have to stick your chip card in, double check who your debit/credit transaction is going through. Are you costing your favorite store more $ because of default configurations chosen by "independent market research."

Please, explain my ignorance.

One way or another we'll all be "chipped" somehow, if we aren't already, but the kicker is we'll volunteer for it, look at the lines outside of Apple stores with every new release, we'll buy it up and use it without any concern for our own privacy, all they have to tell us is how many new features the chip will give us and we'll fight to get a new one for ourselves.

This is why the fight for our privacy is one of the most important topics right now, because in a few years from now it will be too late.

I get that your post was about the SMART cards that have recently started replacing the basic ATM/Debit cards and Credit cards, but ultimately my above statement is the steps down the road that are awaiting us in the future, demand physical and digital privacy now before datamining everybody becomes an acceptable norm.

That's what the title was getting at. The chip that will be in the skin that takes only a psst of the hand to process transactions. Do not allow yourself to be chipped. Resist with all your might.

Fuck that I want the features, I mean imagine masturbating in VR while some government crony is watching, really sets off my inner voyeur.

Holy burning hand. That's hilarious!! Make sure to add that extra loud grunt before you bust just to give them the pleasure too. After all they get off on knowing when you do shit like that

Hey if they get off I get off, I know r/conspiracy loves a good circlejerk, I mean most of the sub is one after all, let's all join the fun.

You can tap the reader with your phone and it will deduct money from either your Google wallet or apple pay account.

No, it comes out of your card's account the exact same as if you used the physical card, and neither Apple nor Google (for Android Pay, as opposed to Google Wallet) are part of the transaction. No additional parties are involved, but it keeps the merchant from ever having your real information.

Great job explaining it.

Nothing changed about credit cards except that they are more difficult to misuse now.

Ya and I bet you believe that the defense depart is for defense and not war.

ok. Tell me what has changed about the nature of the credit card aside from the fact that you need the chip to decode the contents of the magnetic strip.

I enjoy reading the COBRA material but I take it like I take this election. It's full of shit.

Huh.
