Do you really, truly, believe that Satan exists, and that God would let us rot in hell for eternity?

No. The notion of God is a proper daft Idea. Religions are systems of social and political control and form some of oldest and most exposed real conspiracies there are.

OK no problem. When you can prove it and subject it to bona fide peer review I will repent. Until then railing into the storm as King Leah will fail to find persuasion with me.

[deleted]

It won't be if you persuade me. I don't know if your a Christian or not but in most faiths saving people is part of the deal.

edit: If you can honestly prove to me the existence of God I promise I won't be angry. In fact I'd be most grateful. I'm not trolling either, I really do mean that.

edit 2: Please feel free to get back to me if you feel like trying to help me and be more charitable in the future if you can back up your claims with something substantial. I'm here and happy to listen to whatever you want to say.

Lol it's not our job to save you.

Save yourself.

Besides no one needs saving anyway that's a stupid notion that is the reason for so much warefare death and fear.

We just need to remember who and what we are. No saving needed... Open your own eyes and do your own research instead of sitting around waiting for someone to type it out in a nice format and get it all peer reviewed and submitted to a science journal like I'm sure you'd like.

Do your own damn research dude. Fuck.

Well said brother glad to see someone else say it

What if it's only ever been Satan? What if Satan made up God just to fool everyone?

Putting this up top for anybody who's showed here after me:

This thread is a waste. Don't bother.

Not me, but I don't think he'd have a problem condemning GHWB GWB and HRC to name a few.

??? Not sure what acronyms those are

[deleted]

As much as I dislike those people, God doesn't judge his children. No matter how far they have strayed from the light.

Thanks for explaining those acronyms

A small segment of people (that interestingly seem to do very, very well for themselves in this reality) do truly believe in Satan.

It's an old fear based model that needs to die. This world would be better off if we realized Satan and hell do not exist.

Check out the Ashtavakra Gita may help out a bit.

Religious followers are mirrors of drug addicts... All waiting for their next hit of bullshit.

i wish this world could be atheistic, but way too many people are not ready

To deny a source, a creator, a God, is to deny who we are. As much as I respect people choosing their own viewpoints and religious outlooks, atheism will not work for what we truly are.

disagree.

So you see yourself as separate from God?

You don't see us as a whole?

You would rather divide yourself from the all that is?

You don't realize that we are all God? Billions of versions of himself experiencing himself and his own creation.

We just live one life and then that's it?

I'm sorry but I just don't understand how people cannot understand these principles.

when we die, we rot. thats it

So where did our soul come from? Why do near death experiences happen? It makes no sense for someone to live just one life. All the research and literature that is on this topic is wrong then?

Alright so I'm not exactly an atheist but: 1)Evidence of a soul is dubious, most of our experiences in perception stems from the operations of the brain 2)Do all organisms that live and die on this planet not appear to live one life? Apes? Sheep? Flies? 3)NDEs are believed to be caused by a rush of chemicals upon death. Similarities between DMT highs and NDEs are to be noted.

Just playing devil's advocate here. I want to believe.

P.S.- Don't let the atheist circle-jerk get you down. You believe in whatever the fuck you want to believe in and I'll respect that (or at least try to).

Every experience is caused by chemicals in your brain. To discount NDEs or DMT or any other experience as chemicals in your brain is to discount all experience.

But to attribute such experiences to something supernatural as OP suggests might be a mistake.

So where did our soul come from?

What soul?

Why do near death experiences happen?

Hallucinations.

It makes no sense for someone to live just one life.

It make no sense for someone to eat just one banana.

All the research and literature that is on this topic is wrong then?

Probably?

Best response to this shit post so far. Giving it all the credence it deserves.

i will just assume you can't even handle the idea of just dying and thats it. you need the crutch

Nope I just educated myself and I encourage you to do the same.

Sounds like you're the one that's afraid of the possibility of life after death.

Let me tell you something.

I used to have the same view point as you. But it didn't sit right. So I read researched and learned the things I wanted to learn which is life after death.

If you refuse to believe in the soul living after the body passing away then that's your choice and I will not do anything to change it.

I've come to my conclusions and I respect your conclusions as well.

lol no thanks. my current beliefs sit right with me.

I will assume you can't even handle the idea of righteous judgement upon death and cling to the impermanence of your actions and experience. You need the crutch.

nah, i was indoctrinated as a child and thankfully i had the rational to get out.

People with your view usually have been thru a shitty experience and cant deal. Have you?

a shitty experience? such as what?

I don't know. Were you tortured as a POW at war? Were you neglected as a child? Their are a range of shitty experiences out there.

no none of that. worst things to happen to me are pretty much "first world problems"

A wise woman once said to me "Forget hell. Forget that pit. THIS is hell. Have you seen how we treat one another? You have more to fear from another human being than you do a devil."

I think it is possible for personalities to split and create sub personalities or conscious protocols as a defense mechanism for the brain in cases of acute or chronic episodes of trauma. Keep feeding a made up character enough and reinforce it with communal fear and emotion from birth and interesting things happen. Unfortunately, sometimes those divisions fight with each other within the same physical brain and that is why you get things like "possessions" particularly with religious people.

This is my largest complaint with christianity, presented in the form of a logical argument (I.e. if you accept the premises as true and the conclusion follows from the premises, the conclusion must also be true).

1) all things that exist, exist solely according to God's will.

2) hell exists.

(Syllogistically thus hell exists according to God's will)

3) hell is a place where human souls go to be tortured for all eternity if they refuse to accept God as their savior (that is, if they don't love God).

Therefore: God demands you love him or he will set you on fire forever.

Doesn't really sound like a loving deity to me.

Exactly. Because Satan was created by the church to make you fearful and to get you coming back.

This is one thing Christians don't realize.

Sin is enough punishment in itself. We don't need a hell to learn our mistakes.

Is God a shadowy conspirator? I don't get the point of this.

No he's not a shadowy conspirator. The point of this thread was to rant my feelings on how hell doesn't exist and neither does Satan and people need to quit living in fear and worrying about going to a place that doesn't even exist.

No. God and angels and the devil were metap hors used in undeveloped times. If anything it was aliens they saw and helped develop what we know as civilization.

Yes I believe in God and satan, angels and demons etc.

I also believe people don't, and can't, understand God or his motives and shouldn't act like they do, especially not by comparing them to our flawed concepts of morality and judgement. People hardly understand this universe, forget about the bigger picture.

You don't relate this topic to any conspiracy. Please find a more relevant sub to post in

I don't really care. It's a conspiracy in the sense that the church purported a false sense of fear over going to a place that doesn't exist.

If this topic doesn't fit into your conspiracy narrative then leave the thread? No sense posting here.
