Feels like it to me but all my friends shun this. Too much addicted to media comsumption and buying stuff that makes us feel safe to react and admit this.
The attacks of 9/11, 2001, allowed the governing elite to roll out a whole package of things designed to give the government greater control over our lives. This package, which included Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, and the TSA, was ready to go before September 11, 2001. The terrorist attack was the excuse used to roll out this legislation and these programs to control our movements and monitor our communications.
Insight: the federal government was as corrupt in 2001 as it is today. We just did not know it then.
George W. Bush was a puppet president. Obama was a puppet president. Hillary Clinton will be a puppet president, if (God forbid) she is elected.
The people trying to fix the 2016 presidential election are the same people who drafted all the legislation prior to 2001 that was intended to take away our freedoms.
In short: we already have a police state. We've had it for some time, but just did not realize it.
sad that the tech these days allows them to enforce such oppression can't wait for the robot flys with cameras im going to claim im a transgender Muslim so i can have burka
It's already here, just in a soft form. I have been arrested several times and have not been involved in a violent crime, ever. If that doesn't scream police state then I don't know what would.
To be 100% transparent, I have to say that 98% of the cops I have dealt with have been truly stand up guys and treated me well. The other 2% was just a douchebag with a smart mouth, so not that big of a deal. Of course, I am white so that may be why they've always treated me well.
Another way to look at it is this. Most people think of politicians as lying evil bastards. See 13% approval rating of US congress. But somehow those who enforce the politicians' will are somehow better?
Of course, I am white so that may be why they've always treated me well.
They treat you even better if you are black, because they are terrified of being accused of racism. The exception is when you refuse to obey and resist arrest and then they treat you with physical duress.
The enforcement of a police state in the United States would require an overwhelming show of force. A lot of military and police would need to be willing to lose their lives to citizens who value their 2nd Amendment rights. While places like NYC or Chicago might be essentially locked down, I find it highly unlikely that the US citizenry as a whole would succumb to a police state without protracted civil war.

Yep, I got very frustrated with it all last night due to the current events of Assange and Wikileaks. People are just laying down and taking it.

I think this is key. To enforce a police state needs many officers; to enforce compliance needs the will of the people themselves.

If cops were stand up guys, they would arrest the bad cops. Since they don't it is impossible for the 98% to be good guys.

That is also a fair point to some extent.

I try to remember how R. Higgs put it.
“The whole Good Cop / Bad Cop question can be disposed of much more decisively. We need only consider the following:
(1) A cop’s job is to enforce the laws, all of them;
(2) Many of the laws are manifestly unjust, and some are even cruel and wicked;
(3) Therefore every cop has to agree to act as an enforcer for laws that are manifestly unjust or even cruel and wicked.

Yeah, I give the utmost respect to the person in the uniform. Always, "yes, sir/no, sir". That's a very good point.

That's what the people running the guillotines will say. Some day.

You'd think people would be in front of the White House with pitch forks by now. But nope. Just run to the internet and blog about how unfair it is.

How many Police State movies did he release? 4?
He helped to wake me up. He also showed me, indirectly, those you cannot criticise.

You mean because he's a Jew and Jew defender and labels anyone questioning Israel an anti-Semite?

You know what the first thing I found odd was? He did not ever broadcast on Saturday.
