Both Clinton and Sanders are on record saying they wanted to face Trump. This was going on early on before Iowa.
She wanted to run against him because he was an easier matchup

It's a little more complicated than "she wanted to face him". Thanks to leaked Podesta emails, we know that the Clinton campaign actively encouraged the media to legitimize Trump and give him free media attention. Trump literally received more media coverage than any other candidate, Clinton included, even from supposedly "liberal" outlets. After seeing how they smeared Bernie at the Clinton camp's instructions and after seeing how far the media collusion goes thanks to the recent Podesta emails, I think it's quite clear that Trump only got where he is thanks to the Clinton camp pushing their "friendly journalists" to give Trump free advertising.

Yep, maybe they even though they could get him to fold, the thing is I think Trump smelled blood and figured running against the most crooked Vadodara ever, that maybe he has a good chance to win it.

It's 76% upvoted. Most of the people here are aware that both candidates are terrible. I frequently comment about how Trump is a plant and Clinton is a criminal and I always end up with positive comment karma for it.
