My "Worst Case Scenario" math for Donald Trump is he wins 269 electoral votes. If that's the case, do you think the House Republicans will fall in line and vote him in as the next POTUS?

house is compromised... but they will do it to speed up the second stage of the clinton plan per wikileaks

If they don't confirm the winner it will be the straw that broke the camels back.
You don't tell the majority of the country "we don't care how you voted...we pick the president, not you". The riots will make MLK look like a food truck line.

Um, Bush 2000 rings a bell...

That was 7 years before the Iphone was released. For all we know that was an even bigger screwjob than 2016. Secrets were very easy to keep in 2000.

Good point.

Um....that's exactly what the electoral college was put in place for.

But it's never actually been used. When it is I think you will see Americans wake up by the Millions.

The electors aren't the House, are they? Maybe I don't understand the question.
2 philosophocles 2016-11-02
If no candidate is successful in reaching 270 delegates the vote is moved to the house of Representatives and they must vote between the top three candidates.
1 philtheprince 2016-11-02
Ah, OK. I didn't understand that scenario. Yeah, whoever runs the house at that point wins that battle.
1 philosophocles 2016-11-02
I think if it gets to that point it will be a little more complicated than just that.
1 philtheprince 2016-11-02
Perhaps. But of a Senate seat is vacated because somebody becomes president, or get in trouble or whatever, the governor typically appoints a new one, and he doesn't look at what party the people from his state voted into that senate seat. I don't see why this would be that much different.
Of course it would be unprecedented. People would be screaming, and I'm not so sure there wouldn't be "unrest". So maybe you're right.
It'd damn sure be interesting to watch. This whole election cycle has been fascinating, until you remember it's actually happening, and barring something REALLY unprecedented, one of these people will actually be president in January.

You have tons of people on both sides who despise both Hillary and Trump. Gary Johnson is a sane alternative. The entire house knows his successful track record as a governor and I think that may play into it a bit if it goes that way.

I would actually love this.
Johnson disappointed me with the Chris Matthews thing. I gave him the "Aleppo" bit, but I honestly think he just couldn't name a foreign leader. And then he tried to spin it, which was .ore disappointing.
I'd still take him over the other choices.

Apologies if this is a super dumb question, but has that scenario ever happened before? And if so, which elections?
2 philosophocles 2016-11-02
Abraham Lincoln. In that scenario he would be the equivalent of Gary Johnson this year.
1 Homonoetic 2016-11-02
Aah, so you're saying it's a good thing!
1 philosophocles 2016-11-02
It's excellent if it works out that way. No one wants either major party candidate and Gary Johnson while not perfect is certainly a better choice than either of the two clowns.
1 matt_eskes 2016-11-02
If it contested, it's supposed to go to the House, a la John Adams.

likely too many of them are going down with the ship when/if Clinton allegations prove true.
if this happens, Clinton is Pres,.

If it comes down to it, they'll pick Hillary. What if they mad McMullen president? Heads would explode. Most people haven't even heard of him.
1 JHVH_UNO 2016-11-02
...with the lowest rating they've ever had and a citizenry ready to revolt. Sure. I doubt even the electoral muppets would want to test their tensile strength at this point in history.
