Afghanistan was a nightmare in terms of terrain, the fighters were hardened veterans of their war against Russia(or countless conflicts of the region), many of them flooded in from Pakistan. There was a cultural and language divide that isolated our troops and made it hard if not impossible for them to gain the local's trust and get in tune with local communities to root out the insurgents. The one email that seemed to make everyone suspicious about "pizzagate" is very easy to explain. Bill Clinton went to North Korea to rescue a hostage. The three Korean people eating pizza were the hostage, her sister, and one of their children. That's it.

But you're never going to see evidence to the contrary because these kinds of stories are so crazy that no credible person even bothers to investigate and point out the obvious errors and fallacies in the story. Also, they know that most people like you probably won't believe the facts that disprove the story anyway, so why should they even bother?

The final level of your belief in this stuff is that you also now think that I'm in denial or haven't been properly informed or part of the conspiracy or whatever.

There's this weird thing I've started to notice where people think that everything Wikileaks releases is dark, secret information that is hiding massive conspiracies. The reality is that 99% of Wikileaks information is very mundane information of no consequence.

Well CNN fired Donna Brazile because of what was found on wikileaks so it's not all mundane/false information. And that picture you're describing doesn't prove anything you're right, there are much more damning emails than that one. My point is that there is clearly code talk being used in some of the emails and the only reason people would do that is to hide something. Combine that with emails about having kids in a pool for entertainment for adults and the comet ping pong Instagram page and it definitely looks sketchy. I'm not saying I have smoking-gun evidence I'm simply saying it looks sketchy. Honestly though you seem a little more preoccupied with fighting conspiracy theories than actually finding the truth so the conversation is fruitless.

Sure, send me the emails. But note two things:

It's possible that some emails are false, that someone edited a small percentage of the emails. Then, if most of the emails are accurate/valid/true, it becomes easy to manipulate people into believing a lie stuck in the middle of a bunch of true (but mostly mundane) information.

Unless the emails show direct evidence, then it's just the same thing that happens always with conspiracies: a small grain of slightly odd information, and then a wild interpretation of that information.

Also note that the New York Times has now said that the story is bullshit. Not that you are going to trust the New York Times implicitly, but you should at least read the article and consider that this conspiracy might be wrong:

And in the process, you might actually be doing important work if you are skeptical about the right things.

The problem when you push questionable conspiracies instead of pursuing more valid conspiracies is that you can actually harm the country -- you can distract us from focusing on the actual conspiracies that are happening at the highest levels of government.

Let me give you an example: there was actually a conspiracy surrounding 9/11, but it's not the super crazy truther conspiracy that most people are familiar with. The conspiracy is that before Bush came into office, the Bush administration wanted to invade Iraq in order to earn money off of a war, to get Iraqi oil, and to exert greater American imperialism around the world. 9/11 gave them the excuse to tell the American people "we need to start this war in order to fight terrorism."

But what happened? Instead of everybody questioning the Bush administration's motives for the war and the lies they told to get consent from Congress and the American people, as we should have, we had this gigantic faction of people spending years trying to prove this outlandish theory that the Bush administration planned 9/11. In the process, this actually helped the Bush administration go to war in Iraq because it made it seem like any criticism of them was a crazy conspiracy theory.

I agree to an extent, but I don't think Trump's motivations are in the right place. He always runs for president, always as one of the joke candidates like the various porn stars and Vermin Supreme. He has done nothing of the sort. He realizes that the situation is a complex one. Now, he had two options here.

He could do what you suggest and lambaste the DNC (who definitely deserve it). He had a HUGE following made up of a very important demographic for the Democrats. An antagonistic approach would fracture the party and even drive some of his base to vote for whoever wasn't Clinton. That obviously means Trump. He believes that a Trump presidency would be even worse than a Clinton presidency (even if she was elected fraudulently).

His other option is to work from the inside to push the platform of the DNC closer to his own. He has actually been quite successful in this, and has forced Clinton to take on more progressive policy in order to secure the vote of his base. This is the only option that actually furthers his dream for the country. His humility in this is not a weakness, but a virtue. He doesn't care about personal power (unlike Clinton), he cares only about moving the country in a more progressive direction.

From the beginning he knew that winning the primary was a long shot, and his campaign was always primarily about creating a grassroots effort that would change the discourse in our political system.
