Earthquake guy...
96 2016-11-21 by K6gsxr
Wasn't there a guy that said an earth quake was going to happen in California in the next couple days? Due to like astronomical solar wind and shit? Looks like a 7.2 hit Tokyo.... close enough to cali and semi correct ya??Anyone have a link to his account slash post. I want to see what he has to say in regards to being pretty accurate in his prediction.

He mentioned Japan as a potential spot also.

He also gave a spot if it were to happen in Japan, also saying he was still watching

Not a bad guess anyway.

Is Japan on the same fault line as New Zealand? If so, that would be why.
13 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
It's the ring of fire.
I could literally say "there will be an earthquake on the ring of fire" everyday, and I'd never be wrong. Ever.
6 chipper1001 2016-11-21
You wouldn't be able to say there'd be one 7.0 or above
3 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
No but drop it to 5 and you would.
Also. He was off by a bit. When you look at it, sure he was off by 0.2 which doesn't seem like much, until you realize that a 7.5 earthquake has twice as much energy as a 7.3
9 chipper1001 2016-11-21
I mean it's closer than if he had predicted a 5
5 bloodwalt 2016-11-21
yea but he did it by looking at the fucking sun
2 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
And? It's the ring of fire, the most tectonically active place in the world. It's not a wild prediction to think there will be an earthquake, AND he was off by magnitude and time. He said it would happen within 48 hours of his prediction, as in 48 hours or less. Not around 48 hours....he said within 2 days. He was wrong
2 Phinigma 2016-11-21
Ok so predict one with the same margin of error as his.
2 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
Ah now you ask for a margin of error similar to OPs. I will not do that since I don't know enough about geophysics to make that assessment. But as someone that is trying to obtain a degree in earth Science, I can say that OPs prediction was not correct. In science, we would reject that hypothesis. That's not to say OP doesn't know what he's talking about but one prediction that was not right does not mean OP does know what he's talking about.

Thanks for some sanity on this topic!

I'm trying lol its hard in this sub

Hahaha this reads like you are a very sad person.

I don't think people realize how big of a difference there is between two points (like .5 and .6) on the Richter scale
Edit: or what scale we use
1 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
Logarithmic scales ftw
1 CodenameMolotov 2016-11-21
Moment magnitude replaced Richter in the 1970s

The other thing guys, if you go here: http://ds.iris.edu/seismon/ is the lack of earthquakes in the california bay, they have been growing, no tension has been released recently, this is a bad scenario.

BPEarthWatch on youtube covers things of this nature regularly.
2 tinfoilhatswork 2016-11-21
I enjoy his videos on the LHC and the magnetosphere.
Plus his voice is calming and the type he could get a second gig doing audio books that have a "moral of the story" nature.
1 [deleted] 2016-11-21
There is still another super moon December 14th so there will probably be some more earthquakes coming up as well
-4 p0sthum4n 2016-11-21
Haha yeah it's only off 5300 miles. It's like right there! He's practically Nostradamus.
Jesus Christ.

Read the post. He said Japan was a possible target and it would be 7.0+.
-4 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
He was also late by 3 days.
It's the ring of fire. Predicting an earthquake to occur there is like predicting the sun will rise in the east....if it doesn't happen, you know something is fucked.

He was seemingly pretty close to the spot to "if it were to happen in Japan"
0 p0sthum4n 2016-11-21
You're right. It's obviously a guy predicting the future or having insider knowledge of some kind of devious weather and/or tectonics control device. There's definitely some kind of spooky conspiracy going on here.
2 MSparta 2016-11-21
He said he looked at where tension usually happens and such, along with watching the sun.
Prais the Sun
-6 p0sthum4n 2016-11-21
Staring at the sun sounds par for the course for these types.
2 MSparta 2016-11-21
you should read the original post if you havent
-1 whyd_you_kill_doakes 2016-11-21
Japan is one of the most seismically active place in the entire world. It's like predicting there will be a tornado in the Midwest. Good job, you've stated the obvious. Obviously OP tried to be a bit more precise but he was wrong. I'm not saying OP is an idiot, he may be on to something given the circumstances, but one time of OP being days off and at least half as powerful does not mean OP predicted it.
-16 SearcingForTruth 2016-11-21
Whoa. You mean to tell me someone "predicted" an earthquake in California? Color me shocked!
13 jaydwalk 2016-11-21
If you didn't read his post, don't comment. He was predicting a larger earthquake, not one of the smaller ones that happen all the time. This is peoples jobs/livelihood and using actual science to predict earthquakes...
0 NoelTrotsky 2016-11-21
He predicted 7.5 or above...it was 6.9
He predicted it would happen within 2 days, it happened 5 days later.
He predicted it would happen in three of the most active earthquake zones on the planet, Japan, Alaska, California.
Come'on...let's be real here.
1 jaydwalk 2016-11-21
Wow I mean you must have more knowledge about earthquakes and watching the sun then. It's called science and there is trial and error phase when you are perfecting your craft.
But what the hell do I know write this person off as nothing, because apparently you don't watch these earthquake predicting guys...
1 NoelTrotsky 2016-11-21
From his original post,
"When solar winds rapidly drop I believe that the energy from the sun hibernates inside the planet; Call it geomagnetic harmonic resonances. That energy I "feel" is eventually brought back up to the surface when the solar wind speed stabilizes."
Does that sound scientific to you? What energy is he 'feeling'? WTF is 'geomagnetic harmonic resonances"??? That's new age Mumbo Jumbo my friend...pure and simple!
1 jaydwalk 2016-11-21
New age mumbo would be some spiritual shit. Do you follow Suspicious Observers or anything else like that? He's just trying to figure out his theories, as others are in the same field.
You have to have a "feeling" to get off your ass and start doing something no? He put himself out there as a warning, not to be a shill. Do thou what will, I guess...
1 NoelTrotsky 2016-11-21
It's great to be interested in something and dedicate lots of time to learn about it. What isn't great is to pass off work you do as 'scientific' and provide absolutely nothing that passes as scientific evidence.
The truth is I believe people have senses science doesn't understand yet. However if you are claiming that then fine, own it and say how it works for you. But when you start reading 'harmonic' and 'resonance' and 'geomagnetic' it's obvious we've slipped into BS Land.
1 jaydwalk 2016-11-21
Harmonic Resonance: is an extraordinarily diverse and varied phenomenon seen in countless forms throughout the universe, from gravitational orbital resonances, to electromagnetic oscillations, to acoustical vibrations in solids, liquids, and gases, to laser resonance in light and microwaves.
I guess your BS land isn't any where near reality like the one where Harmonic Resonance is an actual thing.
