The Reddit Secret Santa program seems like a great way for Reddit (and the NSA) to get real names and addresses for thousands of Reddit users. No thanks.
That is how they keep it all hidden...fear.
Sorry for scaring you, but people need to realise that the alphabet agencies didn't come down in the last shower.
They're not stupid and they collect the whole thing.
Just don't play. I know it sounds ridiculous coming from someone also currently playing, but, what do you get out of this? What info do you gain from here that changes how you act in daily life? I can't be the only one who see this site as one of the most advanced propaganda machines ever created. If you don't play, there's no traps to look out for, you aren't showing your cards, and you aren't continually being influenced....
They already know everything about you probably in more detail than you do. I bet the NSA could, with a few keystrokes, give a percentage breakdown of the type of porn you view or how often you use ten letter words in text messages.
I did it once. I put together a really nice gift and sent it off. The person who drew me apparently didn't like my profile info and didn't bother to send anything. They gave me a second person who also flaked. I am not saying that I only did it for the gift, but it did make me feel a little sad. I did end up getting a gift sent in mid-January, and it was nice, but I won't do it again.
I predict the fallout of the "Fake News", Pizzagate, and Twitter CP uproars will be legislation abolishing internet and 'smartphone' anonymity. This law will be fast-tracked through the incoming "law&order" administration in record speed.
Get ready to buy a USB card-reader, or fingerprint scanner for every internet-capable computer you own. Government will roll out the cards (probably modeled on the chip&PIN DoD ID-card) faster than any mass program you've ever seen.
yeeeaaah, no. they already have enough information about me, thanks. i'm sure my post history, submissions and subscriptions build enough of a profile.
I have a suspicion they also get recruited as shills for hire as needed.
Team Oranged and so on. certain people seem to suddenly 'activate' and shill on topics that seem not in their area of interest. sometimes for stuff that obviously wrong and stupid.

What did he say? Bigger conspiracy now that he's gone?
1 OnansElbow 2016-11-22
They allready know who you are.

That was as scary to read as a lone message in my inbox as the truth is.

That's the worst part. Being reminded that the ones who make the rules break the rules.

Doesn't mean I'm going to invite them to send me a fucking package.

Don't forget about those frontpage posts from askreddit. "Redditors what XYZ you like, know, do, want, think?"
Unsuspecting people line up like sheep in answering profile build up questions.
Top that with their browse and subscription history and you can build a great image of who is a user, what he really likes and want

This one time I shat in the community pool and blamed it on my uncle (I like to think everyone believed me)

Unless you are using a separate throwaway device from an open public network this will not get you anywhere.

Those posts show up in this sub all the time.
"What do we think about XYZ?"
"Name the top X conspiracies you believe in"

And pretty much any textpost that's two sentences long. Downvote downvote downvote

Basically. No thanks, as well.

Reddit knows exactly who you are, as does the NSA. Come on, you are in /r/conspiracy and you think you are even slightly anonymous?

I've never used an alias. Never type anything you don't want your grandchildren to read in 25 years. It's useless.

There are so many fucking traps it's becoming increasingly impossible to not fall into one. I have caught myself numerous times before.

yes, this makes a lot of sense.

All this obfuscation will be pointless soon.

I've had just about enough internet anyways. The golden era is over. If Real ID becomes a thing, I'm done. Completely done.
2 txstoploss 2016-11-22
If I'm to be government property, I'll act like it. Grudging compliance when the 'boss' is watching, and planning an escape when he isn't watching.
2 ronintetsuro 2016-11-22
And when do you think the government isn't watching?

it's bullshit anyway. why would someone need some random gift from another total asshole who might not even send you anything.
