The fluff articles in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Snopes weren't written to discover the truth, they were written to take up the top Google results for [Pizzagate]. Pages that reveal the dark underbelly of Pizzagate are now pushed down below"below the fold". In the SEO industry this is known as reputation management.
