I wonder if there's some connection between this California case and other weird Californians with sci-fi and black magic connections.
Jack Parsons, L Ron Hubbard, Allistair Crowley, Jet Propulsion Lab, NASA, Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C Clarke etc
Maybe David Asimov grew up in a satanic OTO cult or something multi-generational and science fiction related.

Look at how close Robert heinlein came to predicting the outcome of the 20th century... And he ran in the same circles as Asimov and Hubbard
