CNN has apologized for a segment on New Day this morning in which a commentator described Wikileaks founder Julian Assange as a “pedophile who lives in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.”[deadline]

This is in response to a deleted tweet[archived][current][deleted] calling Assange a pedophile.

This was of course, based upon the totally bizarre smear campaign against him, run by a dating site operating couple far less credible even than Snopes, and who tried to implicate him in an international money scheme. Simply put, they tried to entrap him. And of course in addition to embroiling him in money matters, they smeared him with pedophilia allegations, which is absolutely hilarious, given that they are a Christian couple that had--by their own admission--fallen in love in the 8th grade, which makes them de facto pedophiles, if they aren't complete and total supranational org security trolls and totalfakes.[fgtrds]

Anyway, I assume that Assange is smart and is holding them to their 48 hour notice to air a 1 hour retraction and expose of "who is responsible" otherwise he will sue them.

And probably use something like kickstarter. Which means that CNN is going to get their asses handed to them on a platter. The good news is, that donations to Wikileaks, be it direct or by crowdfunding, will help them take down CNN, should CNN fail to meet Assange's graymail demands.

Might be a good time to start using bitcoin, if you haven't.

Wikileaks can not sue them. They know that.

The lawsuit can not happen without him present and for discovery, but he would get immediately be arrested upon entering the US.

Also I don't believe he is even a US citizen or his organization based in the US to start a lawsuit.

It's posturing and in 48 hours nothing will happen.

You can sue any anyone for anything, but I'm not sure a judge would consider a civil suit with the plaintiff who is not shit represent, not a citizen and not in the country.
